Skomagers House also known as the Old Citizens House is the oldest house in Kolding that was built in 1589 and is located in the #Helligkorsgade area. #Kolding, which is a wonderful #Danish city to visit & is located in #Jutland #Denmark & is full of #TreasuresOfTraveling! As I was waiting for the UBHF to grind uphill out of Thurmont, nary a vehicle passed on Maryland Route 550.
As the sound of the EMDs grew louder, a few cars passed by but the road mostly remained empty.
Then as the lead SD40M-2 slowly ground into view, a solidary vehicle appeared and rolled right into the frame as I hammered down the shutter.
Hooray.
Inglis Falls
Known as “the best waterfalls in the area” is the most visited, anytime of year! One of three waterfalls that surround the City of Owen Sound, Inglis Falls is the best known and most visited. Situated in the heart of the 200-hectare Inglis Falls Conservation Area, Inglis Falls is an 18 metre high cascade, created by the Sydenham River meeting the edge of the Niagara Escarpment. The erosive power of the water has carved a deep gorge at the base of the falls. On a clear day you can see down the valley into the City of Owen Sound and out to the Owen Sound harbour.
There is something for everybody; a viewing platform for those unable to see over the stone wall, 7.42 km of trails of various difficulty, access to the Bruce Trail, more than 20 species of ferns, bird watching opportunities, a series of geological potholes, historical remains of a grist mill, washrooms, picnic facilities and visitor information centre.
Historical Information
Inglis Falls is rich in history – starting in 1843 when Peter Inglis immigrated to Canada and settled in this area. In 1845 Inglis purchased a small existing grist mill built two years previously by a Mr. Boyd, and 300 acres of deeded Crown land. It was in 1862 that Inglis replaced the old gristmill with a new four-storey mill that produced flour, bran and shorts (feed for animals).
Other ventures of Inglis’ included building a sawmill a quarter of a mile downstream of the falls. Peter Inglis also built a woollen mill on the eastside of the river on the brink of the falls. Here were manufactured tweeds, flannels and “rainbow” blankets, so called because of the three coloured stripes at each end. The woollen mill was destroyed by fire around 1885 and rebuilt only to burn down again in 1901.
Management of the mill was passed on to Inglis’ oldest son, William A., in 1886. William’s son, Victor, managed the mill until 1932. Eighty-seven years of steady operation under the Inglis family name is an amazing record which very few industries in this area of the province can surpass or equal.
In 1932, the property was obtained by the City of Owen Sound for water rights. The mill was idle for two years, until purchased by Emil Henkel. He ran the mill until 1945 when a fire completely destroyed it.
In 1960 the former North Grey Region Conservation Authority (now the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority) acquired what is presently the Inglis Falls Conservation Area. Today all that remains of that earlier industrial scene are the family home, a stone building, the silent millstones and the enduring beauty of Inglis Falls.
we finally seem to have a little bit of Winter Wonderland. Snow fell last night and we had teensy weensy snow flakes falling when I was up and about in the great outdoors. The sky was overcast with tiny specks of the lightest blue. Just love those soft colors. Hope that the weather will remain like this over the weekend so that I can head out again and bore you all with winter shots ;-). Must admit though that the birds have flown in from Shadowhouse Creations.

The loco arrived in the United Kingdom on 21 April 2007 and entered traffic with Freightliner in the company's original green livery with yellow cabs and Freightliner logo. The locomotive remained in this livery until 10 June 2019, when Freightliner presented 66587 at Southampton Docks in Ocean Network Express magenta to mark Freightliner's new partnership with the global container shipping company. Named As One, We Can, this was the first time that Freightliner had painted one of its locomotives entirely in a customer's branding.
As the title implies, this is one of several photos taken on a short Spring drive on and around Keeney Mountain in Summers and Greenbrier Counties, West Virginia. They aren't the well known scenic, tourist spots in West Virginia, but rather the back roads with names like Snake Run and Shaw Mountain Road - what we who live here see around us every day; nothing fancy, just good-ole country living. My hope is it will give other viewers an idea of what this short drive looks like from the roadways.

This is one of the very first photos I created with my Fujifilm X-T30. I had just gotten finished unboxing the camera, when I looked out the window and saw this gentleman sitting by the pond and playing his guitar. He was kind enough to let me take his photo.

"As a result of the connection of the Principality of Hildesheim to the new Kingdom of Hanover, the former Derneburg Monastery was given to Count Ernst zu Münster by the King of England and Hanover in 1814. Together with his master builder Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves, the count designed an English landscape garden around the castle, the delightful remains of which attract many visitors to Derneburg today.
In 1839, the year Count Ernst zu Münster died, Laves was commissioned to design a worthy tomb for the Lords of Derneburg. Now the classicist architect should finally have the opportunity to realize an idea that recurs in his designs: the steep Egyptian pyramid. The massive, geometrically symmetrical design language of Egyptian architecture was gladly adopted by classicism. As a student, Laves had to copy drawings of Egyptian buildings and sculptures meticulously. He was certainly familiar with Piranesi's etchings from ancient Rome and thus also those of the 12th BC Cestius pyramid, which may have served as a model for him. The Derneburg pyramid is a little more than 11 meters high and its slope angle is 61 degrees. The door, bearing the Münster coat of arms, is surrounded by a double-wound Egyptian round bar, and an Egyptian groove with double-rowed leaf tips decorates the entrance. Despite all the worship of the Egyptian cult of the dead, the mausoleum remained recognizable as a Christian burial place by a large cross above the entrance. On the stone door there was originally a grave inscription attributed to the Freemasons: “The progression to perfection is eternal, although the trace disappears from the eye on the grave”.
Count Ernst zu Münster, his wife and their daughters are kept in sarcophagi in the pyramid. To the side of the pyramid lies his son, Prince Georg Herbert Münster zu Derneburg, his eldest daughter Marie, "the faithful daughter of her father" (funerary inscription) and a daughter of Count Ernst zu Münster. The following generations of the zu Munster family rest in the tombs in front of the pyramid: Alexander Fürst zu Munster, Georg Herbert's second son, his wife Muriel and their son Friedrich Graf zu Münster, who is still popularly known today as Graf Fredi. The Celtic high cross on the tomb of Princess Muriel indicates her origins in Scotland."

As I said I'll rebuild this, will make it around 24 studs longer so I can fit some no mans land. Should I keep the trench as it is or should I make some changes on that?
I've started to realise that my WW1 builds is pretty plain even though I'm trying to make sure there is both layering and "levels" (or what to call it) for example trees. Still it feels a bit flat.
Don't know if you get what I mean, but if you do I'd like some ideas about how to make it better So I can evolve as a builder.

As I was watering the back yard a couple of days ago, I noticed the Rainbow. So I figured, why not take a shot of it. Looks cool even if it's not a real Rainbow in Nature. Whenever it rains here in San Antonio, Texas, I am hoping for a Rainbow to capture.

In honor of winter I thought I’d put up another from Abraham Lake taken nearly a year ago on a trip up to Canada with Alan and David. This evening was an eventful shoot at the Belly of Abraham Lake with storm like conditions raging over the mountains. It was blistering cold and wickedly windy on the lake surface but the dramatic light made it worthy to be out.
These bubbles are a bit different from my previous posts as these are deeper below as if they are trying but unable to reach the surface. In the background is Mt Abraham with soft evening light and wispy clouds dithering off the summit. Hope you all stay warm for the remainder of winter.

As I have been doing for weeks now, here are a few more photos from my archives. I will add the description that I wrote under a different, previously posted photo taken on the same outing.
"Little did I know what I was going to miss when I went on a short drive SW of the city yesterday afternoon, 23 July 2018! Only when I checked the weather forecast for today did I see photos and videos of the severe hail storm that hit the city while I was gone! Of course, it may not have covered my part of the city. When I was taking photos yesterday, very black clouds did start rolling in, as seen in photo #5 that I posted this morning. However, I had no idea what was happening back in the city. It was windy, too, and COLD, which actually felt really, really good.

The forecast for today gives an 80% chance of thunder storms for this afternoon. I had planned on finally getting out on another botany walk with friends, but I'm not sure I want to risk getting soaked. The temperature at the moment is just 13C at 10:45 am."
As many of you know I've been practicing macro shots, something I'm not very good at. I finally got a few closer bee shots that actually turned out not too bad. On the butterfly shots the centre of them comes out okay but the wings get blurry.
I'm no Jose! LOL
But I can see some improvement over my earlier tries. My hats off to all the macro masters out there, I truly admire and I am inspired by your breathtaking shots! You might be seeing many bee photos in the future, the butterflies don't seem to like me. LOL

New Mexico reports six of the seven Grosbeak species that are seen in the US. Only the Crimson-collared is missing from our list. It is a neotropic species spotted only in extreme southern Texas. Several othern Grosbeak species are found mostly in the southern half of the US. This species and the Pine Grosbeak are grouped separately from the rest in several field guides... they are of like size, but are more northern birds and thus grouped near the Buntings and Sparrows. Our rarest NM Grosbeak visitor is the neotropic Yellow Grosbeak...I have photographed it as far north as Albuquerque.

The route is a peaceful walk in a green and fresh environment.

As part of their mating display, Ruddy Ducks (Oxyura jamaicensis) bob their heads and press their bills on their breasts while simultaneously lifting their tail ninety degrees. For some reason, their females find this behavior extremely irresistible! They are broad parasites, meaning that they lay their eggs in the nest of other ducks, coots, grebes, and other species. The young Ruddy Ducks are fed by the host parents, at the expense of their own young.
