In SPACE at Eldon Building, University of Portsmouth.

The SPACE gallery will be host to the international artist Pete Codling who will be creating a giant charcoal drawing directly on the gallery wall. The building, which will be demolished this November along with this final artwork, was actually Codling’s old studio space when he was a student at Portsmouth College of Art in the late 1980s.

This ‘charcoal epitaph’ is a personal way for the artist to say good bye to the building but also to celebrate the creativity of many artists, designers and musicians who have used this space over the last fifty years.

Codling, who has been travelling in Europe for last two months in search of inspiration, returns to his home town to start on the artwork on the 16th June. He will be working in the SPACE gallery on Winston Churchill Avenue until November where people can see him at work through the window or pop in to meet the artist in person.

Giancarlo Solimano (ctr) dressed some models to recreate Victorian era paintings.

While living in New York City he had the opportunity to workwith such legends in the fashion industry as; Geoffrey Beene, Mathew Rolstein, Kevin Aucoin, Vanessa Williams, Ashley Judd, and many others. With a superb eye for design and a keen sense of style, Solimano now runs his own fashion boutique- salon in the center of Washington’s wine country.

In the heart of downtown Walla Walla, Solimano’s store has become a destination for fashion aficionados looking for a unique style and the experience of finding a one of a kind ensemble (http://chevalfashion.wordpress.com)

Photograph taken in Shirakawa-minami Dori in Kyoto, west side of the Kamo River in Gion. It is popular with tourists who enjoy dressing up in traditional Japanese dress and costumes. You will still see the traditional artists in this area of Maiko and Geiko (Geisha) or maybe try Pontocho on the East side of the Kamo River, this traditional entertainment area has many forms of traditional architecture, geisha houses and tea houses.

Center Harbor, NH.

August 24-30, 2014.

I came to this crazy beautiful place on Monday and I don't have many words to describe it. Enchanting is one. The building itself is an old Catholic church, built at the turn of the century in Center Harbor, New Hampshire, which is now dubbed Star & Snake. Natan Alexander and K Lenore Siner birthed Star & Snake from a combined dream to create an inspirational space for creation, study and celebration.

As partners and artists committed to realizing beauty and excellence in all that they do, Natan and K graciously welcomed me to enjoy and co-create Star and Snake with them in a week-long artist residency, which I came to with the following aims:

To make body art; process art; earth art and earth works;

To pay tribute to the narrative and poetry of Ana Mendieta. To find ways that re-interpret her work in relation to the site, space and land I find myself on;

To make visible the earth, ephemeral phenomena and conditions;

To match the frequency of my body with the earth element. To approach my work from a place that is slow, present and embodied;

To make works that are impermanent, to communicate in as close a medium to life as possible.

We took the Artist's Palette drive on our way to Furnace Creek and stopped here (where there are bathrooms handy!) for a look at the Palette. There was a photographer's workshop in progress, and someone, whom I assume was the leader, kept saying, rather loudly, "Are you chimping? Don't Chimp!" and other workshop leaderish things. I went up the rise opposite the bathrooms and got this shot while the workshop was down below at the edge of the parking lot.

Some day, when Im awfully low,

When the world is cold,

I will feel a glow just thinking of you...

And the way you look tonight.

Yes youre lovely, with your smile so warm

And your cheeks so soft,

There is nothing for me but to love you,

And the way you look tonight.

With each word your tenderness grows,

Tearing my fear apart...

And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,

It touches my foolish heart.

Lovely ... never, ever change.

Keep that breathless charm.

Wont you please arrange it ?

cause I love you ... just the way you look tonight.

The artist was still setting up the sculpture when this photo was taken. I believe the name of this piece is "In God's Hand." It is located next to the Gerald R. Ford museum.
