It is always fascinating to see how flipped reflections in a wet sandy beach take on an almost painterly quality.

Please see below for more rather interesting flipped reflections.

Have a great Thursday and thanks for stopping by.

The Artist's Drive in Death Valley National Park takes you out of the valley and up into the (not so accurately named) Black Mountains.

The main attraction is the Artist's Palette area, seen in the centre of the image.

The colours are a result of oxidation of various different types of metals, producing an amazing mix of colours and beauty to what is a relatively lifeless area.

“This artist’s concept shows what the 4-man GE space station would look like in space. The supply crafts hovering around the station are Gemini vehicles.”

So, this is possibly a MORL precursor? Or, is it MORL without being called MORL? Despite varied literature I came across it's sort of muddled...at least to me. Especially, with this being a General Electric entry/submittal & them being out of the running by the time "MORL" was the common jargon. I think. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I assume the station is spinning. 😉

This has got to be the thickest, heaviest-weight photographic paper with a black & white image on it that I’ve ever come across. It rivals ANY of the heaviest-weight “A KODAK PAPER” (with color image) specimens.

An unexpected & pleasant find, with some other works by the artist, Peter A. Bertolino:

Even more gratifying, thanks yet again to the Legacy website:

“Peter A. Bertolino:

BERTOLINO, PETER A., on May 5, 2004. Beloved husband of Adeline Bertolino, loving father of Michael and Peter Bertolino, devoted grandfather of 3. A Veteran of WWII-U.S. Army.”

While the above is cursory, the following comments more than make up for it:

“My condolences to Peter's family. He was a wonderful man. I can tell you that it was always a pleasure to work with him and to be in his company. I know he was always proud of his work, but even more so of his family. I will remember him fondly.”

Marlene Cecco

And:

“Co-worker from GE days:

“I am very saddened by Pete's death. Pete was a loving and caring person. He always had a story to tell about family, life and especially about his artwork. I still picture Pete with his pipe in his mouth and a grin on his face as he worked on his board. He always made me smile. What a GREAT man. I will cherish all of his Christmas Cards.”

Anna Cecco Robbins

Finally:

“Co-worker from GE days:

“Pete was certainly a great guy. He was a man that I always looked up to, a very special person.”

Image Manipulated from a Self-photo 6/15/'16

I think the artists version will be better

Using the Pano mode on the Iphone11pro I actually walked down the alley to build this photo of artists works.

In Kyiv, Mykhailo Nesterov, who was only 23 years old, found himself in the family circle of Adrian Prakhov. The owner's 18-year-old daughter Olena (Lelya), thin, not too beautiful, but witty and attractive, immediately treated the artist as an old acquaintance. And he sympathized with the girl more and more. It was from her that he painted the image of St. Barbara for the iconostasis of the Volodymyr Cathedral. The similarity turned out to be so obvious that the wife of the Governor General, Countess Sofya Ignatieva, visiting the work in the cathedral, could not hold back her indignation: "I can't pray to Lelka Prakhova!" Nesterov had to somewhat change the features of the great martyr Barbara.

Stormy weather provided the perfect backdrop for the always stunning view from Artist's Bluff in Franconia Notch.

Willem Vermandere, sculptor, musician, painter, poet, friend and Flemish cultural icon.

He'd groan at being called an icon. This humble, wise man touches the lives of everyone who comes into contact with his work. At the moment he is performing in South Africa.

I took this in France after a wonderful lunch together with Magda and his wife.

I really like minimalist and abstract landscapes, and so we decided to spend the day hiking up a massive cinder cone volcano to get a viewpoint of these amazing hills with trees dotted throughout the landscape. It was quite elevated here and i think given that we had lived around sea level our entire lives we were suffering a bit from altitude sickness, feeling headache and so out of breath.

Now that i sit comfortably in my office i say it was worth it :p

i wonder if i should have made this a bit more of a square format rather than the rectangle here - it feels like the left of the frame has nothing particularly interesting to look at
