Dallam Park, Milnthorpe, Cumbria.

Went out at sunrise to capture the deer.

For my mental health I try and capture the sunrise at least once per day ;)

Burghley House from the south garden

This is a long exposure of the Thames Barrier, another iconic London location. If you look closely on the left hand side you can just see the Shard poking through one of the gaps.

This was actually taken on a rather flying pre-work visit one Friday in July. Obviously this was during one of my 'keen' periods of photography where I had the energy to get up early and grab a bunch of shots before starting work ...

Dull, grey and overcast with gentle rain sums up Hardwick earlier this afternoon; unsurprisingly very few people about. Sheep and canada geese for company; two pairs had goslings with them, one with four the other two. Spring is definitely in full swing, everything looks fresh and green, especially after the rain.

Close to a very serious fight between male elephants. At this stage it came down to a trial of strength but it can get meaner if one doesn't back down - even to the death. Pleased to say the animal on the left came to his senses and walked off.

Just emerged, early season Holly Blue butterfly in our garden hedge.

Dead vines still clinging to a tree trunk.

The texture and contrast drew me to this, immediately knew how I wanted to process it which is something I'm really happy to find is happening more often.

Stepped in to spend a very short time working on this image taken last Oct...

Ficaria verna, (formerly Ranunculus ficaria L.) commonly known as lesser celandine,is a low-growing, plant in the buttercup family.

A much photographed cottage on Anglesey , hopefully this is something a little different.

While on holiday in Cornwall, I decided to head to Godrevy point one evening to photograph the lighthouse at sunset. I managed to get some waves crashing against the rocks as the tide was incoming.

Great to get back to Sizergh Castle, Cumbria.

A houseplant being tended gave us this symbol. A reworking of a shot from yesterday. The gift that keeps on giving.

While on an annual holiday to The Lake District during the February half term, I set out to find this "hidden" old watermill in Borrowdale on one of two days where it wasn’t tipping it down with rain! I found the mill fairly easily with an OS Map and some scouting on Google Maps/Earth.

On reaching the mill, it promptly started raining! I persevered and the rain did stop. I managed to get a few shots whilst being careful not to slip on the wet, moss-covered rocks. It was worth the visit as it’s a beautiful old mill, which I'll no doubt return to.

Path through the bluebell carpet

The recent rain has brought out a number of slime mould fruits. This is wolf's milk and although one of the most common it is also one of the most striking.

Fairy inkcaps within a very old oak tree in Epping Forest

Buff tip caterpillar in Epping Forest looking for somewhere to pupate - adult in top corner for reference. They are poisonous if eaten and I'm told don't smell so good - another deterrent to predators.

Another shot of Spurn Point Lighthouse on Spurn Head.

You can pay to go up the lighthouse; we didn't have time to do so on this trip though, as you have to be aware of when high-tide is! The end of Spurn Point is cut off from the main land at high-tide which can leave you stranded until the tide goes out again - there is a small shelter for you to wait it out in should you get caught out!

The sun breaking though the clouds to light up Sempringham abbey.

So, after four years with the iPhone 11 Pro, I finally upgraded this week to a 14 Pro, and this is the first time I've had a phone with a camera that can just about hold its own against a 'proper' camera.

With the ability to shoot RAW in the native Camera app, combined with the 48Mp sensor in the main 24mm equivalent camera, I'm finally able to take photographs which hold up to the sort of pixel peeping that was always found wanting with previous phone cameras.

By no means does this mean that I'll be shooting phone pics from hereon in, but at least it means I can get more 'keepers' if a situation presents itself when I'm without one of my main cameras.

I thought there was a great level of cloud cover today, makes a change from either plain blue sky or the blanket greyness which often dominates the skies in London ...

Magical in Epping Forest today - the frost persisted well into the day.

Chased these all over Sculthorpe moor and finally got a distant picture. It was a bit windy for them to be catching dragonflies.
