Cheers!
I got this idea while I was running today. (Yes, I ran! Three
miles! Very sslloowwllyy.) I liked the one I used much better,
but I wanted to say hi before I crash.
I'm sorry I haven't commented on photos for a few days. I've
been swamped with work—first the jewelry, then the wedding.
I processed 125 wedding photos today (and I was only there
for an hour!). My eyes are bleary. I also got paid from the
jewelry job (yea!) and did a little more work for Gina.
And Gina and I figured out a way to get the bee out of the
mailbox. He was dry today when I went to get my mail, and
I was surprised to hear him buzzing so loudly. He has been
stuck since Friday. Poor thing. I'd decided once and for all
that he was getting out of there. First I pushed from behind.
He buzzed. Then I called Gina over (she was in the yard with
her son) to help, and she tried pushing the bee's face. Bee
didn't like that. So I got the idea to put a stick against the
box and let the bee grab hold of it, which he did. He pulled
on the stick, pulled and pulled. You could see the effort. Poor
little thing! And then Gina pushed him a little, and he wriggled
out. With a great buzz, he bonked the mailbox, Gina and I
screamed like girls, and then he flew away. This made me
very happy.
I almost cried with the relief of it.
My proposals went out Thursday, and my agent wrote to say
the pitches went great. I am having to ask about each thing
she writes to me, because I have no clue. Apparently, she
sang my praises on Thursday before the packages went out.
I fretted all weekend long, at my mother-in-law's, and have
thought of little else.
Today, my agent wrote to say that two editors loved the proposal.
I had to ask again what that meant. She said they still have
to talk with all the other marketing and PR and salespeople
and put together an offer; most of them are shot down, so
she said not to get my hopes up. But it's a good sign, she said,
to hear from ANYbody on a Monday morning, and we got
two calls.
So now I'm nervouser.
And that's where I am right now, and I wish you all good
dreams and happiness. (And a note to Flickr Dave that I
hope he and his wife are feeling less grief. And congrats to
Jennifer on that mouse catch. And Teena, that was some
nice polish, even if on your toes. Scout, good to see you
back. Fran, I miss you. HBD, Steve Parke's wife.)

I happened to be in the St. Louis area for family activities when I heard about MVNKC having KCS 4006 as a leader. With Will Rasmussen's suggestion of going up onto the new Route 3 ramp overpass north of Q Tower, I cluelessly hiked up to what turned out to be the out-of-service southbound I-55 ramp off the MLK bridge, which proved to have an excellent view of the skyline, in spite of the wire clutter. Sometimes it all works out in the end!
We had our share of overcast days on the island; this was one moment when the scene was lit by soft golden sunlight.
To take advantage of the situation I briefly tried stalking this Spotted Sandpiper up and down the beach. That was a hopeless cause, with the bird simply fleeing out of camera range in front of me.
Sitting patiently among the fallen trees that line the east side of Fish Point proved a much better approach. When I remained still, the sandpiper walked right up to me.

An alternate shot from my brief street portrait shoot with Hencil. I opted for monochrome and a square crop for this classic portrait. I love the tonality that it brings out in his kind face. Hencil has been in touch with me to thank me greatly for approaching him for the shoot, it made his day to be asked and he is really pleased with the resulting images and how I went about taking them.

When I'm in Niagara, Feeder is one of those angles I end up doing almost every time. Like, I passed "beating a dead horse" status about 18 trips ago. I'm sure we all have angles like that.
This time I tried something a little different. With TE11 having finished their work at Feeder in the yard out of sight off to the left, they're backing the train up to the yard.
It's brighter and happier than the other photo.. but the shadows were bugging me so I toned it down.
Soon as I get the lighting down - I'm going to love this little set up. I am *floored* that Rainbow Deli isn't a more popular Re-Ment set. It's my absolute favorite set. It has stickers, CUTE happy colors, happy faces, rainbow, trees, and everything just makes you smile as you open it :)
Welcome back to another Fantasy Friday! (Theme music plays as host walks out) I'm your host, and today we'll be looking at an attempted revamp of the original Ninjago Ninja. As you can see, each of the ninja was given a new suit, though Kai's just looks like the Flash's. The arms on Kai's Flash suit come from a suggestion from Zen Thorga.
Fig-Formulas:
Zane: Zane ZX head/mask, SW Imperial Hovertank Pilot torso/waist, CMF series 1 Astronaut legs, C-3PO hands.
Jay: Jay ZX head/mask, Blue Beetle torso, hands, and legs, and original Jay arms.
Kai: Kai ZX head/mask, Flash torso/waist, Toy Soldier arms, C-3PO hands, CMF series 5 boxer legs.
Cole: Cole ZX head/mask/arms, Thor torso, and MoS General Zod legs.
Personally, I like Jay and Cole the best, but I'd like to know what you think. Thanks for reading, and come back next week for another exciting episode of Fantasy Friday!
Once again, not entirely sure if they fall into the fantasy category, but I'm sticking with it. I had another post that works better, but I'm saving it for Slight.of Brick's possible contest. Anyways, hope you like them, and the whole "host" thing. Have a great day!
An alternate (HDR Painterly) rendition of my recently photographed Palm Sunset. The HDR effect is more dramatic and colourful, I think. Note the Ibis at bottom right and the gulls flying out of the highlight in the clouds.
In Rick and Mory, Rick seems to get naked quite a bit, so I thought, why not make a Naked Rick Sanchez in Lego?
Just an all grey body with the black bits painted. The censor bleep is also painted using several shades of grey.

Macro Mondays theme: Wabi-sabi (alternate)
Wabi-sabi is a Japanese word roughly translating as 'imperfect aged beauty'. It is used to describe a particular philosophy that beauty can be found in the old, the everyday, the imperfect, broken and decaying subjects.
My subject today is a book printed in 1940 that was sold for pennies by the US Naval Station, Jacksonville, Florida Library in 1947 the year I was born. I spent many hours of my childhood poring over the pages of this book and a few more hours as an adult trying out the projects. The internal beauty of this 80 year old book is far more valuable for its history and personal connection but I feel these images achieve artistic merit on their own. Choosing one of them was difficult so I hope you will take the time to enjoy the whole set.

I have taken any number of photos of Benchsward from the other side, but I think this is the only one from this angle. Explored.
Our visit to Sainte-Chapelle came on the middle of a cloudy day, which gave fairly even light across the chapel. The aura of the purple light coming through the stained-glass windows as was the detail on every beam, simply stunning. Impressive enough to visit in the 21st century, I'm sure it was quite the sight in the 13th, when it was constructed.
