This June and July, I've been driving through the countryside surrounding the highway to the seaside more than ever - the highway was congested quite often, and I'd rather drive slowly through the beautiful scenery than be stuck crawling on the highway.

Taken with an Olympus OM‍-‍1 film camera, and Olympus S Zuiko MC Auto‍-‍Zoom 35‍–‍70mm F4 lens, on a custom-rolled, shortened Agfa APX 400 film. Developed in Adox Adonal 1‍+‍50, at 21‍°‍C for 19 minutes.

Scanned with my trusty Plustek OpticFilm 8100 dedicated film scanner using VueScan x64 9.5.

Nearby series of backwater lakes are quite promising locations, but somehow I never go there. I must fix that mistake, and find a place where I can park, at least!

Here, a bunch of water lilies form a pattern on a lake.

Taken with medium-format Zenza Bronica GS-1 film camera, with Zenzanon-PG 100mm F3.5 normal lens, on Fomapan 100 black & white film.

Developed with Adox Adonal, 1+50 dilution, 7:10 min at 21.75°C.

Scanned with my ancient Canon CanoScan 8800F flatbed scanner that needs a thorough cleaning.

I've been practising taking a walk around the block as a break from work lately, but I don't always have inspiration, so a bit more random photos this time. Here, that would be me, peeking from a window of a church next door. Yup, that's a church, despite trying hard to look like an inside of a bathroom.

I hope the joke in the title is understandable - a tree on the right looks like it's arguing with a fellow tree on the left, about their fallen fellow, on the bottom right.

#smalltowninertia Carl in his apartment July 2017

Wonderful afternoon shared with Carl, today.

We made interviews focussing upon the stresses of living in an apartment block that is poorly maintained with stairs that are increasingly difficult to navigate, has poor security and recently had a Police raid because Heroin was being sold.

Together we also made photographs together and discussed his coming image/text story.

There are many contrasts here: a multi-story residential tower with a lot of people resting versus a major football stadium; a building enjoying the late-autumn sun and the one in the shade; an urban centre right here and a mountain wilderness far away.

Last summer, a friend was testing battery-powered garden tools and joined me briefly in my vineyard chores.

It's a nifty little tool that works like a charm, but doesn't have the endurance or sheer power of a big, petrol-powered rotary trimmer.

#smalltowninertia David at home September 2016

Early Thursday morning I had a telephone call from David, his SARA audio scanner (Fundraised via social media) had ceased working.

David was beside himself with worry.

A quick telephone call to the wonderful Sight and Sound technology later and I was relayed a way to potentially fix the problem. Juggling caring chores at home I immediately headed over to David’s home on the bus.

The SARA device is a lifeline for David. Samantha, the electronic voice that reads aloud any printed material scanned has evolved into being as important, in the absence of an actual person, a companion, a voice that cuts through David’s 100% NLP (Nil Light Perception) blindness and informs hen reading bills or a newspaper and transports and soothes when reading pages of books.

Thankfully, the fix worked and in no time I had cleaned, repaired the SARA device and once again it was working perfectly and Samantha’s voice sang out. David was overjoyed.

Afterwards, David and I took the time to make some portraits together. I’ll be returning next week to work some more upon a coming update to his story of enduring blindness, alone, in 2016.

Full stories with David can be read, here :

Despite the shorter days, people are using the embankments on both sides of river Sava for recreational purposes on a regular basis - there's always at least someone running up and down the dike, and this October wasn't the exception!

I miss snow! Fortunately, I managed to catch some snow time this winter, I went to see how far will I be able to go through the unpaved road to the nearby mountain lodge - despite some, at the moments iffy road and my completely ordinary car (but with proper winter tires!), I managed to reach the snowy top, the whole 815 meters.
