Driving around and exploring the countryside in Kvarner, near the seaside, is a bit different experience than in my usual, fully continental environment - springtime is almost there, while the continent is lagging a week or so. Interesting!

Taken with Olympus OM‍-‍10 film camera and Sigma Super‍-‍Wide II 24mm F2‍.‍8 wide-angle lens, on Rollei RPX 400 film.

As white it can go! That day, snow buried everything quickly, but it was a wet snow, so I went out as soon as I could. I did a decent hike through a park nearby and returned home soaking wet.

The very first photo I've taken with my "new" Ica folding camera from the 1920s!

The camera is designed to use either roll film in the already discontinued 118 size or 9x12 cm film plates/sheets. Since I've never taken a single photo on sheet film I decided to use roll film – in this camera medium format film gives you nice wide 6 x 10,8 cm negatives.

I used empty 120 spools, screws and hot glue to craft extensions to a roll of Fomapan 100 and to make a matching take-up spool.

And here's the result. One second exposure at the widest aperture, f4.5 and the old Carl Zeiss Tessar from 1924 shows you what it's made of.

I took an early afternoon walk almost a year ago. Here's an immaculate clearing in Bundek Park's forest.

Taken with Pentax MV film camera, with smc Pentax‍-‍M 40‍–‍80mm F2.8‍–‍4 zoom lens, on a roll of Maco UP400 film expired so long ago I wouldn't be surprised if ancient Romans used it. :D

Tower of Light is used for testing light bulbs in TEŽ, the light bulb factory, in Zagreb, Croatia. As far as I'm aware, it is no longer in use, since the company went under. The tower is a protected cultural heritage of industrial architecture so it'll stay there for the foreseeable future.

I managed to clip the roll here. Oops.

Taken with Pentax MV film camera and smc Pentax‍-‍M 28mm F2‍.‍8 wide-angle lens on AgfaPhoto APX 400 film. Developed in Adonal, 1‍+‍50 dilution just slightly above 22°‍C.

The elliptical world centred on a bridge pylon—the underside of a Hendrix steel railway bridge over the Sava River in Zagreb. The bridge was named after famous musician Jimi Hendrix, sometime during the 1990s by somebody painting the name in big, red letters on a light-green bridge. Finally, in 2017, city officials accepted the name.

The image horizon is curved due to the camera being intentionally pointed slightly upwards during its rotational movement. It was an experiment that turned out quite nicely, I'd say!

The most common movements in a vineyard are all repetitive, on every scale imaginable – some chores cycle on a yearly basis, a lot of chores are on a much shorter scale. For example, cutting grass is a cyclic, repetitive motion where you swing the trimmer left, then right, and back again, multiple times per minute.

So yeah, what comes around comes around. Literally.

Foma Retropan 320 in Adox Adonal 1+50, printed on Foma MG paper.

A row of school buses parked for the summer at our local grade school. I didn't think I'd ever get to use this camera, because they haven't made the special type of film it takes in probably 50 years or so. But, I noticed the shutter worked, even without batteries, so I cut down some 120 film, positioned it carefully where I thought it should be, (in total darkness, of course!), and then shot with it. For the first attempt, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Now I can mark off another camera in my collection that I've used. My goal is to be able to say I've used every camera in my collection - all 267 of them. (And counting....?)

Taken with my hundred and twenty-sixth camera. This image is not cropped, I simply scanned it to all the edges. It turned out the same dimensions as a 35mm negative, so I suppose that's the shape the original instant prints must have been. And I must have gotten lucky in where I positioned the negative in the camera because it was level and where it needed to be, apparently.

Edit: this was developed in Adox Adonal, 1+80 90 min semi-stand development, 19°C.

The grain is much sharper and coarser than in Compard R09 One Shot, perhaps closer to what I used to get from expired Agfa Rodinal.

Of course this dilution and time combination is also quite heavy for this film exposed at box speed. I shot this roll in two cameras and the other part was shot at 1600/3200 in very low light. I think I tried to favor those shots in development - will have wait for the scans to see if it worked out.

Agitation: 1 min + 10 seconds at 30 and 60 min.

Traditionally, whenever there's a family gathering, I tend to take an hour or so to wander around the neighbourhoods and drive around aimlessly, hoping to find a photo or two. This year's All Saints' Day was no different.

These photos are quite contrasty, from what I've seen. Ferrania P30 seems to work best when developed with Rodinal 1+100 in a stand process. It's good to know for next time!

Believe it or not, that railway bridge officially got its name after the musician Jimi Hendrix. Sometime in the 1990s, somebody wrote Hendrix on the side in big, red letters over a green/turquoise bridge, and after a decade or two of redoing it after each bridge repaint, city officials accepted the name everybody used. Before that, a 306-metre steel bridge was called just the Green Railway Bridge.

Or just the top of the mountain nearby, the highest peak I walked to during the year, but still the highest peak I've reached in 2024. And the only camera I took was this untested, cheap and simple point-and-shoot.

Despite the obvious lack of image quality, I'm quite happy with how it turned out. Not every photo needs to be sharp — that day most certainly wasn't!

Again, a sunny day (the same one!) in December in a park, and a camera I've never used before. It's as simple as it can be, one shutter speed, one aperture and a plastic lens, but that works surprisingly well.

I've been practising taking a walk around the block as a break from work lately, but I don't always have inspiration, so a bit more random photos this time. Here, obviously empty basketball field, inviting me to score a hit. No ball, no score - I'm not tossing my camera around! :D

I've been testing this Minolta X‍-‍700 which definitely saw much better days - it's full of signs of hard work, and every corner is worn off. It's been sitting on a shelf at my cousin's place for more than a decade, but it needed just a set of fresh batteries to continue working perfectly fine. What a great camera!
