A misty morning at Officers Gulch Pond, Colorado

A rainforest is an area of tall, mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall. Rainforests are Earth’s oldest living ecosystems, with some surviving in their present form for at least 70 million years. They are incredibly diverse and complex, home to more than half of the world’s plant and animal species—even though they cover just 6% of Earth’s surface. This makes rainforests astoundingly dense with flora and fauna. Rainforests’ rich biodiversity is incredibly important to our well-being and the well-being of our planet.

Je vous souhaite une excellente année 2017 à tous !!!

A few months back I was watching the white hawk through my bins, when I heard the distinctive toots of a Pygmy Owl. Sure enough, a pair was in the oak trees behind me.

Do you remember my photo 'A work in progress' ?

Well, I finally finished the basic pattern. It is a very large extension of this origami-tessellation, called 'Start'.

It is the first time I ever folded such a large grid!

Now the fun part begins, adding the final pattern by altering the magical hexagons ;-))

Folded from a hexagon 43cm, grid 1:128, 'Anett'-paper.

If you are interested to see more, have a look at my tessellation album Origami - Tessellation Progression".

A scene from a hike up in the Berkeley Hills. An oddity, for sure. Not really in space, but perhaps seeming to be?

29:52 - Make a portrait where the primary goal is to engineer intimacy from a situation that is fundamentally artificial.

In Cape Scott Provincial Park, where we recently went, one of the trails is the North Coast Trail - 60km (37 miles) long. The hikers feel connected through the fact that they are in it together, and have a common goal. When they have completed the hike, they nail or somehow attach whatever they wore on their feet onto this Shoe Tree. Looking at this tree covered with old and battered shoes, and even a prosthetic leg, seemed so intimate to me. If the people who wore them hadn't all hiked the same trail and endured the same hardships, these would just be meaningless shoes.

Last week I posted this privately to a 52 week theme group, so apologize to those of you who have already seen it and commented.
