These birds got their name by appearing at night, I got lucky to spot this one still out in the morning.
A Brown Fish Owl, with striking yellow eyes wide open, stares down at me from its nest hole in Sri Lanka.

A small and common babbler found in the countryside and sighted always in flocks much like the other babblers. They are noisy chatterboxes though delightful to watch and shoot. The birds are found in the scrub and underbush often flying from one bush to the other looking for small insects.
On this occasion though, the birds were singing and try to mate - my first such sighting. The males were not successful since the female wasn't interested, but it was an insightful experience to watch the birds sing from the same perch and wait for females to respond. The female did get a bit closer, but almost immediately became disinterested and flew far away taking a few of the males with her. The birds are not sexually dimorphic though - I assumed the genders based on the behaviours.
Thank you so much in advance for your views, feedback and faves.

I was briefly in Boston yesterday and what a beautiful spring day it was! I didn't bring my good camera along. Although the technical quality of this panoramic is not great because it was captured with my phone, I enjoy the spring atmosphere it conveys. It works best on a large screen.
Have a great Friday all!

A beautiful morning above Mahon Pool in Sydney eastern suburbs.
Despite light wind I was still able to slow the shutter down to 1/2 second for a little more long exposure aerial goodness.

I think it is a marvel of the spectacle of the man made construct of time, so much so that, when we see trees as of now, consider the time they sprung from nut or acorn, we see that moment as ancient times. If all things are consciousness, we could learn a great deal from the silence of the forest.
This I took at the Grunewald, which translates into Green Forest, very near tot eh same location I caught the macro of the Dor Beetle...
Well, I hope everyone's week is going well and so as always, thank you! :)

This one was feasting on our Cotoneaster - a good chance to get some images with the wings open. It was so engrossed in feeding it didn't seem to notice me.
Happy Wing Wednesday!
