Hello All!
I vividly remember this particular day of trying to capture the Black Swallowtail that was zooming around in a meadow. You can just imagine me running around, trying not to fall in the lumpy terrain! (It was great fun)!
My goal with this slide was to try and mesh impressionism and vividness together using Topaz Studio. I hope you like the results. Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!

From a couple of weeks back...
It’s been very grey and dull here, this week, so I haven’t been taking many photos. I quite like this one taken from my yard.
Sun setting over The Girvan Valley, out to the Firth of Clyde, steeped in evening mist and fog. The Antrim Hills of Northern Ireland can be seen over the Firth and Irish Sea. To the left/south is Craig Hill, mainland Scotland.

This is a first for me. The Carolina Mantid grows to 2.5 inches which is half the size of the Chinese Praying Mantis we see more often. I found this guy and had to hit the dirt for this shot. Dixon Meadow Preserve - Dixon Meadow House, Lafayette Hill, PA.

A flower of the common houseleek (Sempervivum tectorum), a popular garden succulent after the rain. Houseleeks also called Thunder plants, Roof plants or Roof foil (amongst many others) which originated from early beliefs that they could protect houses from lightning strikes. Whether this is true or not, houseleeks are evergreen, readily self-propagated, with attractive reddish-purple flower spikes. The science name “Sempervivum” translates from Latin ‘forever living’ and refers to its longevity, whereas the epithet “tectorum” means ‘of house roofs’ refers to the original use of the plant. Houseleeks remain popular on green roofs of outbuildings today. Taken in the garden. Bath, BANES; Somerset, England, UK

This was a very nice day to take such a photo - it was misty and sunny at the same time. Having driven my son to school I managed to squeeze a few minutes to take shots from different places and get to work (a few minutes late but what's a few minutes compared to eternity) ;-)
