Mobile phone cam shot of an Old School Beauty BMW reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Almost completely unedited, no tricks, no Photoshop, just some added saturation and contrast and my old S700i SonyEricsson phone doing its thing :)

I've posted a slightly different shot , check it out here!

A "discreet" parrot wanted to pass unnoticed between the herd of pigeons that pecked bread. Unfortunately for him it was discovered. In the last years the population of parrots in freedom in Barcelona has grown enormously, and they already dare to compete with the pigeons.

In 1714 Barcelona fell to the army of Philip V after a long siege. The dogged resistance of the city meant that its new rulers wanted to keep it under firm control.

A year later, Philip V ordered a giant new garrison fort, the largest in Europe, to be built in order to guard the city. The buildings of the Ribera district were demolished and in their place, in 1716, the new fortifications began to be erected, paid for by the city itself.

In 1841, the Junta de Vigilància (Board of the Guard) began to dismantle it, but under the Regency it was restored in 1843.

After the anti-Bourbon revolution of September 1868, the Catalan general Joan Prim decideded to turn over the garrison fort, the Ciutadella, to the city, which from 1869 to 1888 had it pulled down, this time definitively. All that was preserved was the Governor's palace, the chapel and the arsenal.

In 1888 Barcelona held a Universal Exhibition, inspired by Mayor Rius i Taulet, and the park was built on the grounds of the demolished Ciutadella. This event marks the end of the old provincial Barcelona and the establishment of a modern cosmopolitan city.

CASTELLANO

Test shot with the new Polaroid SX-70 I've got from eBay, rather a clever little Polaroid, it's surprisingly small too, I rather like how easy it is to focus and how it look through the viewfinder, much better than looking through my Lubitel 166B viewfinder (quick note - i didn't like having the border on the Polaroid so I decided to just crop to the picture itself, nice and clean).

I managed to modified the 600 films into the SX-70, removing the ND filter on the sensor and set the camera to the darkest setting on the sensor, picture still came out slightly overexposed but not so much.

Who need Photoshop?

Edited - I've notice due to Polaroid announced that they won't be doing instant film anymore, this lead to an increase number of people searching "Polaroid" on Flickr, and since this polaroid came first out of the list of search, I take this chance to show you the Save Polaroid site;

"This site will document the aftermath of this announcement and will serve as a home-base for the effort to convince another company to begin producing the cherished technology that Polaroid has so carelessly abandoned, this is not about saving Polaroid, the company, rather the remarkable invention of Edwin Land, the instant film that made Polaroid a household name."

This is the picture we're going with for the final. I think the composition is more balanced, the tones more intense, the lighting dramatic. I might have to add some elements for the final (bringing more definition to the light going out, etc).

Quizz thinks they are waiting at the bus stop -- I like that.

There are times I curse at the street lights and at the lights from the Cliff House, but this night I found them to be quite the blessing.

If you should ever come to my village, rebelxtned, I hope, you will find the way to the lonesome tree by having this picture in mind!

Yukon Quest is a sled dog race that takes places every February. Mushers compete for the grand prize of $200 000. Usually this prize money is also suplemented by some amount of real gold (gold coins, or brick of gold etc.)

The race is 1000 miles long and has many international attendees.. It starts in Whitehorse, Yukon and finishes in Fairbanks, Alaska or vice versa. The direction of the race alternates each year. Mushers take 10 to 14 days to complete the race. High percentage of racers do not finish. Air rescues are not uncommon because of the remoteness of the area and extreme weather.

Other photos of dogs and mushers, both from me and from other photographers, can be seen at the The Yukon Quest pool.

This lone oak tree stands in a field just a few hundred yards from my front door. This was last weekend as the sun came up on a frosty Saturday morning. Moments before this was taken my youngest daughter who chose to accompany me to watch the sunrise had been swinging on the rope hanging down from one of it's branches.

Kiev is a cold place in the winter. I can't for the life of me figure out why the Germans chose to invade these old Russian cities in the winter months. They say the Russians had some significant success because they initially did not depend on tanks, which are not great in the snow, but instead relied on horse-cavalry.

All of this ultimately made me think that the only thing worse than being a German soldier during a Kiev winter would be being a Russian horse.

Over on the right there, you can see the huge statue celebrating the Great Patriotic War, which we know as WWII.

I am headed to Iceland in a few hours to hang out with Asmundur - I can't wait! I also took a few interesting shots here in Amsterdam, but I've had no time to process them.... coming soon!

Thalankuppam is a small fishing hamlet, at the extreme north of Madras city. A river - called variously the Kourtaliayaar, Mogathwaram, Thalankuppam - meets the sea here, at Thalankuppam. A wide, sandy beach, broken piers, fishing boats, and more make for a great way to spend the evening.

Thalankuppam, otherwise just a small dot in the map of Madras, has one little thing going for it. Fresh fish. Locals and people from far flock to the daily and weekly fish market here. Fish here is sold in big lots, and buyers bid for it.

Apparently, the British Raj too bought its fish from here. They would board their ships at the Fort St. George, sail north for 17 kilometres, and buy their lord's favourite here, 200 years ago.
