Palamidi is a fortress to the east of the Acronauplia in the town of Nafplio in the Peloponnese region of southern Greece. Nestled on the crest of a 216-metre high hill, the fortress was built by the Venetians during their second occupation of the area (1686–1715).
In Greek mythology, Palamedes was the son of Nauplius , prince of Nauplia who led the Nauplians in the Trojan War.
He is said to have invented counting, currency, weights and measures, jokes, dice and pessoi, as well as military ranks. Sometimes he is credited with discoveries in the field of wine making and the supplementary letters of the Greek alphabet.

This one is for Munich.
For all the fantastic architecture whether the old or the new one.
For all the breweries and the most delicious beer in the world.
For all the rollercoasters at the Oktoberfest which make so many people happy every year.
This is to the people.
To all those people sitting outside in the sun even though it is freezingly cold.
To all those surfers who are surfing no matter the season.
To all those drunken strangers at the Munich beer festival which are friends for one night.
I love you guys, you are my inspiration, you are my life.

This is the view from the Thompson Trail #121 south of the Roosevelt Dam by Roosevelt Lake in the Tonto National Forest.
www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/tonto/recreation/bicycling/recare...
From State Highway 188, the trail quickly climbs along an arroyo and then follows the contour of the ridges above the highway and Roosevelt Lake. After 1½ mile, at the junction with the Cemetery Trail 255, the trail turns south and gradually ascends a broad ridge to the junction with FR 341. This trail is named after Jerome Thompson who served as the district ranger, 1956-1965, for the then-named Roosevelt Ranger District.

As Darrell and I walked back across the campus after a session with the WIU Hot Shots photography club in the University's photography studio, we spied a stand of dandelion stalks softly lit by the setting sun. Neither of us could resist pulling our cameras out and taking some shots. This image of one going to seed is probably only the second dandelion picture that I have posted to flicker in the last couple of years. To obtain the shot, I used the articulating LCD (instead of the viewfinder) while holding the camera down near the ground. It was processed in Lightroom 5 using a radial filter.
My attitude towards these prolific and tenacious weeds has radically changed since moving out into the countryside of western Illinois. I used to fruitlessly try to eradicate them from the lawn... but now, because of the sheer overwhelming number of them and the huge size of the lawns out here, I am content to keep them mowed down with the rest of the grass. :D

People accuse me of “Photoshopping” my photographs. That’s crazy! All my photographs are SOOAA, that is “straight out of Apple Aperture.”
I was walking in Lafayette Square, a public park located directly north of the White House, in Washington, DC last week. I noticed these cumulus clouds and composed a couple of photographs. I know this is Washington, DC where everything is an illusion, but I pulled no magic tricks in post-production. I simply increased the contrast and bumped up the vibrancy. Mother nature gets all the credit for this one.
It has been a roller coaster week here in the nation’s capitol. Scandals have burst over the political weather front from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) limiting free speech to the Justice Department spying on reporter’s phone records.
I guess my “Photoshopping,” I mean my SOOAA skills, aren’t the only scandals brewing in Washington, DC.
Happy Travels!

I had the chance to sit down with Miss Angela at the Palm Springs Air Museum for a one on one interview. I must of asked her a million questions but she just kept staring at me. After about an hour, I gave up and left. I think she was just shell shocked by my masculine beauty and it left her speechless.
Miss Angela is B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber and she looks darn good for an old lady.
View on black or I'll stare at you for hours without saying a word. (it's pretty creepy when I do that)

Welcome to the Brickell Financial District immediately south of downtown Miami. This entire district -- according to the locals and Wikipedia -- contains the highest concentration of international banks of any American city. Brickell is part of the greater downtown Miami area and actually has more people who work in this district than in downtown Miami itself. One could say the central business district of Miami is now Brickell.
This photo would not have been achieved without the help of Roberto, whose classy photography is already very familiar to many of you. When we met, the rain was pouring heavily, and we thought for a while that the blue hour and night would be spoiled. It seemed to start that way, but when the storm passed. . .WOW! As many of you know, the sky and atmosphere is cleansed after a heavy storm passes, so it really makes for some magnificent photography, especially after sunset in a densely populated area. Our patience paid off and time was on our side.
Roberto was a fantastic guide and showed me many vantages along the Miami River. We walked around downtown and Brickell. With the help of the free, public light rail system, the Metromover (which you see towards the right), we were able to get around downtown with very little effort -- and avoid getting drenched when the rain made a few more cameos!
Muchas Gracias, Roberto!

Thinking about all my peeps today... Especially those who are not around any more to share a glass of wine or a laugh. Maybe watching the Dave Allen documentary last night had something to do with it!

This monument was built by the Prince Leopold III. Friedrich Franz of Anhalt-Dessau 1785 -1787 and used as a guesthouse.
The guesthouse gained great popularity because of the beautiful view and the tasteful, modern furnished rooms. In the long guest list includes names like Schinkel, Hölderlin and Novalis.
The guest house Eichenkranz is acting like a castell construction. As a gateway to the city and an important reference point for the beautiful gardens of Wörlitz, It represents an ingenious architectural and urbanistic solution.

Starbucks Coffee Company recently invited me to make a presentation about night photography for its internal photography club. It was a terrific event for which I had nearly a month to prepare. I was never nervous once until a few seconds after the presentation started. A bout of apprehensiveness struck me, which was really all in my head. Nothing unfortunate or embarrassing occurred!
Fortunately, I had a very good-natured and engaging audience. After a brief microphone sound-check took place two minutes into the discussion, and a few playful quips into the mic (i.e. Recall Joey’s popular quote from the “Friends” television series, “How You Doin’???”), I was ready to go! Laughter from the audience is always reassuring.
There was a turnout of approximately 70 individuals, and the head of the photo club told me he couldn’t remember the last time a presenter received audible applause at the conclusion of a presentation. I thought I could have done a lot better, but the overall feedback I received was -- to my delight -- extremely positive. Like most human beings, I am my own worst critic. On top of that, amidst the preparation, I was exhausted from multiple aspects of my daily routine from the previous month leading to the event. No complaints, though. Every minute and every second of this photography venture has been worth the effort.
If you would like to see the “Introduction to Night Photography” presentation (revised to target an online audience) and the concluding photo video, both are currently on my official blog. Pictures taken during the presentation are posted there as well. If anything, viewers can take humor in my nerdy voice and fashion sense. Please feel free to share the presentation and video with your friends and colleagues.

This is a view of Seattle’s SoDo (South Downtown) neighborhood, which is essentially the city’s warehouse district adjacent to Harbor Island, which serves as the Port of Seattle. Starbucks’ world headquarters is located in SoDo. I love the bright lights of the port in combination with the thick clouds engulfing the Olympic Mountains along the horizon.
Even Seattle’s warehouse district has an alluring charm!

Lake Garda is the largest in Italy. Its wider part to the south is surrounded by morainic hills that were left following the glacier recession, while the narrow northern part is enclosed by the mountains that create its fjord-shape and provide a very mild Mediterranean climate. The luminous environment, temperate climate, and flourishing vegetation - mainly olive and lemon groves, palms, cypresses, oleanders and orange trees - along with the majestic landscapes are the background to the remarkable historical and cultural remains spread all around and make this lake the most charming in Italy. Given the intense colour of its water with a marked shade of blue and matchless transparency, Due to its natural beauty, impressive scenery and reliable thermal winds, Lake Garda is one of the most popular windsurfing spots in Europe. It is the perfect place for surfers, from beginners to pros. Even if you're not a windsurfer, it doesn't take long to discover that windsurfing at Lake Garda is really popular.
Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. It is a popular holiday location and is located in Northern Italy. Campione del Garda is an unique location, the highly favourable climate and the ever-present winds all year round make this the ideal place for a wide range of amateur sports, where air meets water, from windsurfing and kitesurfing to sailing. Photo of Kanitha and Samantha at the edge of Campione in front of Lake Garda and the impressive Mount Baldo - 1,800 meters.

The Wall Beach is certainly one of the wildest and most pristine of all the northwest coast of Fuerteventura. The strong wind, waves and his brave waters most of the year, make this beach an ideal place for surfers, kite and naturism. The Mountains that support its golden sands have been eroded by wind action, what turns the beach into a paradise for the surfers and other horsemen of the waves.
