ZLATIBOR is a mountain of exquisite beauty. It has pleasant and mild climate, large clearings, exuberant pastures intersected with mountains with mountain streams and pine trees - which this mountain is named for.
The average hight is about 1000m above sea level.
Mountain and sea gulfs encounter here which speed up the curing and the recovering from large number of lung and heart illnesses, especially from illnesses of thyroid gland and anemia.
The Balkans is the historical name of a geographic region of southeastern Europe. The region takes its name from the Balkan Mountains, which run through the centre of Bulgaria into eastern Serbia. The region has a combined area of 550,000 km2 (212,000 sq mi) and a population of about 55 million people.
The ancient Greek name for the Balkan Peninsula was “the Peninsula of Haemus” (Χερσόνησος του Αίμου, Chersónisos tou Aímou).
The Balkans are adjoined by water on three sides: the Black Sea to the east and branches of the Mediterranean Sea to the south and west (including the Adriatic, Ionian, Aegean and Marmara seas).
The identity of the Balkans is dominated by its geographical position; historically the area was known as a crossroads of various cultures. It has been a juncture between the Latin and Greek bodies of the Roman Empire, the destination of a massive influx of pagan Slavs, an area where Orthodox and Catholic Christianity met, as well as the meeting point between Islam and Christianity.
The Balkans today is a very diverse ethno-linguistic region, being home to multiple Slavic, Romance, and Turkic languages, as well as Greek, Albanian, and others. Through its history many other ethnic groups with their own languages lived in the area, among them Thracians, Illyrians, Romans, Uzes, Pechenegs, Cumans, Avars, Celts, Germans, and various Germanic tribes.
The Balkan region was the first area of Europe to experience the arrival of farming cultures in the Neolithic era. The practices of growing grain and raising livestock arrived in the Balkans from the Fertile Crescent by way of Anatolia, and spread west and north into Pannonia and Central Europe.
In pre-classical and classical antiquity, this region was home to Greek city-states, Illyrians, Paeonians, Thracians, Epirotes, Mollosians, Thessalians, Dacians and other ancient groups. Later the Roman Empire conquered most of the region and spread Roman culture and the Latin language but significant parts still remained under classical Greek influence. During the Middle Ages, the Balkans became the stage for a series of wars between the Byzantine, Bulgarian and Serbian Empires.

Este es un dragón marino, pariente del caballito de mar, en el Acuario Georgia de Atlanta. Viendo las noticias me enteré que por primera vez en la historia del acuario uno de ellos queda embarazado. En cautiverio esto sólo había ocurrido en otros dos lugares: el Acuario del Pacífico en Long Beach y en el Acuario de Melbourne. Lamentablemente, están en peligro de extinción.

This is a weedy sea dragon, a relative of the seahorse, at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Watching the news, I found out that for the first time in the aquarium history one of them has gotten pregnant. Only two facilities in the world to have successfully bred weedy sea dragons in captivity: the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach and the Melbourne Aquarium. Sadly, they are an endangered species.

Breukelen is a municipality and town in the Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht. It is situated to the north west of Utrecht, along the river Vecht and close to the Loosdrechtse Plassen, an area of lakes and great natural beauty. During the 17th century a number of Amsterdam merchant families built opulent mansions along the river near Breukelen. This park belongs to the castle of Gunterstein next to the river Vecht.
The borough of Brooklyn, New York in the United States, is named after Breukelen.
This photo was taken at the park of Castle Gunterstein. Such a quiet and forgotten park since we didn't met anybody during our 2 hour walk. That's very rare in Holland ;-)
Gunterstein is een kasteel gelegen aan de oostzijde van de Utrechtse Vecht in de Nederlandse gemeente Breukelen in de provincie Utrecht. Het huis werd in 1680 gebouwd nadat het oude kasteel Gunterstein kort na het Rampjaar in 1673 was verwoest door Franse troepen. Rond het kasteel ligt een parkbos. Een deel van het gebied is weiland met houtwallen en het oostelijke deel bestaat uit populierenbos. Vroeger waren delen van het landgoed in gebruik als moestuin, boomgaard en hakhout. In de Franse tijd kwam daar een siertuin bij en zichtlanen om het huis meer aanzien te geven. Vanaf de tijd dat de Engels landschapsstijl in de mode kwam werd het park meer en meer natuurlijk en gebruikt om tot rust te komen. In de binnentuin bevindt zich een schitterende mammoetboom, een Ginkgo biloba en een moerascypres. Nu wordt het nog steeds gebruikt om rustig in te wandelen.

The dunes were formed from sand deposits of the Rio Grande and its tributaries, flowing through the San Luis Valley. Over the ages, westerly winds picked up sand particles from the river flood plain. As the wind lost power before crossing the Sangre de Cristo Range, the sand was deposited on the east edge of the valley. This process continues, and the dunes are slowly growing. The wind changes the shape of the dunes daily.
There are several streams flowing on the perimeter of the dunes. The streams erode the edge of the dune field, and sand is carried downstream. The water disappears into the ground, depositing sand on the surface. Winds pick up the deposits of sand, and blow them up onto the dune field once again.
Digging a few inches into the dunes even at their peaks reveals wet sand. If the streams were to dry up, the dunes would disappear; in fact part of the motivation of turning the Monument into a National Park was the extra protection of the water, which Colorado's cities and agriculture covet. -Wikipedia

Vinod is a pehlwan (Indian wrestler) who allowed me to take some pictures during his training last January.
As he was very easy with the camera I asked him to become one of my models for the catalogue of our new collection.
I took this picture a few hours ago at sunrise at the Akhara which is near scindia ghat in Vanarasi (Benaras).
The sun was reflecting from river Ganga and providing this golden light.
We were having a break and Vinod was showing what kind of actor he is.
On this portrait he looks like a victorious Roman general at the time of his triumph, where he would relinquish the title of Imperator as well as his imperium.

Awful weather here in Piedmont. Turin is on state of calamity and rain is falling without a break. Today I couldn't reach my office, as the railway lines were interrupted. And in this hell made of water...Neve and Ribes had the sweetest rest, side by side. Bunnies (and the pets we love) are the warming light in the darkest days.

Apesar do nome, era na realidade uma usina movida a carvão - o tal "Gasômetro" fazia referência a área onde hoje está a Usina, chamada de Volta do Gasômetro. (fonte: Wikipédia)
A Foto ficou com esse aspecto pois coloquei o filtro polarizador na frente para conseguir mais tempo de exposição e ele acabou indo pra frente, e o que era pra ser um defeito, acabou sendo um "efeito" interessante, pois a leve deformação da fish fez parecer uma bola de vidro e o gasometro ficou pequenino lá dentro :D

Nel '54 fui ospite di una famiglia di contadini al Testaccio di Barano d'Ischia, ero con un amico, lontano parente dei contadini ed ebbi una ospitalità indimenticabile.
