Marktplatz der kleinen historischen Stadt / marketplace from the small historical city in Germany

Persepolis (Takht-e Jamshid - Throne of Jamshid; or Chehel Minar) was the ceremonial capital of the Persian Empire during the Achaemenid dynasty. Persepolis is situated 70 km northeast of the modern city of Shiraz in the Fars Province of modern Iran. Archaeological evidence shows that the earliest remains of Persepolis date from around 515 BC.

Sometimes photography is just about being at the right place at the right time. I didn't plan to take this picture at all. I was just driving home after I already took some pictures, when the sky suddenly turned pink. I stopped the car immediately, got out and took a couple of shots. I was just in time, because 2 minutes later the pink sky was completely gone. I already posted a similar shot a few days ago but I thought this sunset was so beautiful it deserved another exposure. Besides that, the colors are very Flickr-ish.

What I like most on this photo isn't the colors but the people on the foreground. If you look closely they are communicating with each other, they are not skating.

Note: these are the real colors as spotted that day, no PS enhancements needed. Well, only a few basic corrections.

He has his eye on me most of the time. Border Collies like to stare, and Barney is no exception, I think this is why is good at having his photo taken, many dogs are worried by the lens (apparently they think its a hard stare from the alpha!) but Barney is happy to look straight back at you, its not a challenge, he's just not afraid of eye contact, in fact he likes it!

I took this shot this morning, we were playing on the field, its cropped a lot but for some reason I seem to like it, anyway I kept coming back to look at it, so thought I'd put it up!

Page # 1 Explore. Dear all, have a Flickerized 2009!!!

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. The name is a derivative from Amstel dam pointing to the city's origin: a dam in the river Amstel. The city is known for its historic port, the Rijksmuseum, the red-light district (de Wallen), the liberal coffeeshops, and the canals which have led to Amsterdam being termed the "Venice of the North". The Westerkerk ("western church") is a Protestant church in Amsterdam, built in 1620-1631 after a design by Hendrick de Keyser. The church is right next to Amsterdam's Jordaan district, at the bank of the Prinsengracht canal.

Here's a view of the Westertoren in the winter -5 ºC december 2008, Jordaan - Amsterdam

... is easier when on the Cable Car.

The edges of the wide angle Sigma create a mechanical vignette when pushed. It is an engineering defect and/or benefit. Cropped a bit up and to the right to allow for the light at the bottom left to provide an exit path.

Many people already made that kind of shot, but I think I'm the first one who did that with a red savina habanero!

Happy 2009 to you! :)

it was a cloudy and gloomy day all day and i was so bored so we decided to stop by at camden, nj. one hour into sunset and lo and behold, the sun started peeping out so we got clear skies, some fog, calm waters, and no haze - essentially the perfect conditions. little did we know that the ben franklin bridge was also quietly celebrating christmas with her own beautiful lights!

London (pronounced /ˈlʌndən/) is the capital of England and the United Kingdom. It has been a major settlement for two millennia, and its history goes back to its founding by the Romans, when it was named Londinium. London's core, the ancient City of London, the 'square mile', retains its medieval boundaries. Since at least the nineteenth century, the name "London" has also referred to the metropolis developed around it. Today, the bulk of this conurbation forms the London region and the Greater London administrative area, with its own elected mayor and assembly.

London is a major global city and one of the world's largest financial centres. Central London is home to the headquarters of more than half of the UK's top 100 listed companies (the FTSE 100) and more than 100 of Europe's 500 largest. London's influence in politics, education, entertainment, media, fashion, the arts and culture in general contributes to its global position. It is a major tourist destination for both domestic and overseas visitors. London hosted the 1908 and 1948 Summer Olympics and will host the 2012 Summer Olympics.

London contains four World Heritage Sites: the Tower of London; the historic settlement of Greenwich; the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; and the site comprising the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and St. Margaret's Church.

London has a wide range of peoples, cultures, and religions, and more than 300 languages are spoken within its boundaries. In July 2007, it had an official population of 7,556,900 within the boundaries of Greater London, making it the most populous municipality in the European Union. The Greater London Urban Area (the second largest in the EU) has a population of 8,278,251. while the metropolitan area (the largest in the EU) has an estimated total population of between 12 million and 14 million. The public transport network, administered by Transport for London, is the most extensive in the world, London Heathrow Airport is the world's busiest airport by number of international passengers and the airspace is the busiest of any urban centre in the world.

RATM -Killing in the name

I'm pretty lazy today, I didn't feel like removing the ghosting from the car.

Samantha wants to be a mahout. Sitting on the neck of the elephant behind the ears. She had a very exceptional experience with a protected elephant here in Laos. Being with an Elephant Mahout (Elephant keeper) and learn about them and their life. Outside of Vang Vieng this former working Elephant have a new home. Samantha, BieJee and Kanitha enjoying the elephant ride through forest and river landscape. A wonderful activity of great nature and landscapes and a touch of adventure. Along the way, we have the chance to experience the villages, greeting the local villagers and experience their daily lifestyle and enjoy unspoiled natural forest and over viewing splendid scenery landscape of limestone mountain.

Samantha, BieJee and Kanitha enjoying a Elephant ride in the green forest of Vang Vieng, where Samantha is our little mahout ;-)..
