I think I may have over-cooked the post-production a little bit! There was more light pollution on this side of the mountain than previous Milky Way shot I posted. It resulted in more colour variation in the night sky and I’m not sure oranges and blues will be to everyone’s liking.
Location: Pico do Remal, Madeira.
Equipment: Nikon D7000, Nikkor 10-24mm @10mm, F3.5, ISO 3200, 30sec.
Post-production: (quite a) curve layers used, and masked, to adjust the local colour balance and emphasise the beauty of our galaxy. The details can all be found on Kenneth Brandon’s excellent video tutorial... www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOAmP7A_x6c
Muchos besines, queridos amigos
I wish you all that this year that is already near brings us health, love and peace to fight against this pandemic that seems to have no end.
Many kisses, dear friends
A rare bird for Florida. Franklin's Gulls are very similar to Laughing Gulls. They are slightly smaller, with a smaller bill, larger white eye arcs and a darker, more extensive hood in winter.
Some friends and I spent several hours picking through a couple thousand Laughing Gulls at a few different locations in the Daytona Beach area one day this fall. We finally found what we were looking for right before sunset. This is a first cycle (first winter) bird as shown by the brown feathers in the wing.

Last evening's shot of the Andromeda Galaxy. The image is a composite of 15 one-minute exposures at ISO 3200 and setting the f-stop back one setting to f/6.3 from the default 5.6. Seems to have made a difference in the details. Too bad the moon was rising, it was a perfect night for imaging. Temperatures stayed above the dew point during the entire session.
Observation Site: 40.8978786 N,75.8921584 W Equipment: Canon 6D, Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM, iOptron ZEQ25GT mount. Software: Backyard EOS v3 (camera control), Starry Night Pro v6 (mount control).

D464 was used for the video for Singer Sinead O'Connor new song "Eight Good Reasons", the bus was well received despite some mechanical issues.
This dragonfly was seen this autumn at Lake Lotus Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida, USA. I like its blue - green eyes.
These vertical crops show a lot more detail in large size.

Happy 57th Birthday, Malaysia!
Please enjoy another aerial view of the metropolis that we know as Kuala Lumpur!
In the lower right of the image, you can see the curvature of the River Klang. A major highway flanks both sides of the Klang, where it will eventually meet its tributary, the River Gombak. The meeting of these two rivers is the foundation that gives Kuala Lumpur its name (“Muddy Confluence” in English).
I wish I had had more time to explore, but the memories and experiences were and continue to be unforgettable. In my most recent blog entry, I describe my encounter with the Malaysian military and the full experience of my aerial photography flight with the pilot who initially refused to land the plane upon my request. If you’re interested, the article is called, “A (Somewhat) Comedic Conflict of Cultures above Kuala Lumpur”.
Silakan! Jumpa lagi! / Enjoy! See you soon!

“... A faca e o chapéu grande
deixei na entrada da festa,
pois sei o baile que presta
e, a respeitar o ambiente,
é costume da minha gente
se pilchar bem a preceito,
que até um feio agarra jeito
e se acomoda de frente ..."

Industrial bin after loading with building rubble hanging at chains seen against deep blue clear sky
On my way home from work I saw this container hanging at a construction crane in the air. I already wanted to leave the construction area behind me. Then I turned round and went back, thought this might be a nice shot ;-).
