REPOST

So I was recently tagged by both PollyPreppyPants and Gareth Weeks! This is a little "party" I had that involved Guitar Hero, tequila, whiskey and security not doing much of securing!

Here are 10 things are may not know about me:

1. I'm 25, very soon to be 26

2. I've been to Disneyworld 3 times

3. I went to college an hour from Canada but never went there

4. I can speak German, and am learning Italian

5. I just left my beloved Blackberry for an iPhone (great decision!)

6. I own 902 DVD's

7. I played baseball for 17 years

8. I'm a financial analyst for a global organization

9. I don't like to sleep in, it wastes too much of the day

10. I love to travel more than anything!

Thank you friends, for all of your views and comments!!!

Back to the HDR tomorrow!

(Challenge: How many places in the image above can you find "rule of thirds"?)

So, as my last, and only other, self portrait was quite well received, I thought I'd try another, and as shots where I get my feet wet often turn out well I decided to incorporate that as well by deliberately getting my feet wet this time, but there is more to this than meets the eye. This is where I grew up and I spent many a day by the harbour, beach and sea in North Berwick, however this was a pretty special sunset and there was an additional treat in store; as I stood for 30 seconds while this shot was taking, I saw a splash out to sea and then another, and then I saw something I've never seen in all my years standing looking out over this view... a pod of dolphins. For some of you that might be a common sight but not here... a very magical moment.

Oh and this was with my new camera :o)

This shot is dedicated to Yasmin Ahmad, who was one of the best directors from Malaysia. Sadly, she suffered a stroke and passed away last week.

Do check this out if you got the time: Funeral. This is one of my favourite commercials directed by Yasmin.

RIP Yasmin.

I've seen countless versions of this kind of shot and have always wanted to try one - regardless of how much of a cliche it might be.

The title should be humorous to anyone who knows a bit of French. For those of you who are Franco-impaired, eau is French for water....and it's pronounced "oh". Besides, calling this pic "Hair Spray" was just too obvious, making it even more of a cliche. At least I have what I think is an original title, even if the pic idea isn't so original.

Whoever did this style of shot first certainly deserves kudos for inspiring a lot of wannabe photographers.

Thanks to my young cousin Claire who was a very cooperative first-time model.

#207/365 The Tour de France finale stage is today. This shot is a tribute to Lance Armstrong. If all goes well, he should finish 2nd or 3rd overall. If you don't know the history here is run down. Lance survived testicular cancer, a tumor that metastasized to his brain and lungs in 1996. Then starting in 1999 he won a record of seven stright Tour de France titles. He then retired only to come out of retirement this year at the age of 37. This guy really is superhuman. This year's tour was really dramatic and I believe he could have won it this year. He announced next year that he is putting together his own team (Team Radio Shack) and will ride again to try to win. Hope everyone has a great Sunday...Enjoy Life!

Hehe! Barney looks like he's ready for take-off here, with those great flappy ears :) We were at the top of the Beacon, the highest point of the Malvern hills, where it's always wild and windy, even on warm, sunny days. He loves it up there, racing about, or simply standing, nose to the wind, taking in the scents and sounds from the villages and farm land below. He loves the wind, and I love what it does to his ears (lol but not what it does to my hair!)

Finally, I am pleased to say that Barney's sore paw has almost completely healed now, he's back to his happy, bouncy self, and going for normal, long walks. I'm soo happy and he is obviously overjoyed at being able to run free once more, thanks once again for all the kind comments and support when Barney wasn't feeling well.

The Black Hmong are the 3rd largest minority in Vietnam with nearly 900,000 people. In the Sapa region there are about 35,000 Black Hmong residing in the surrounding 17 villages and they account for about 50% of the area population. Most reside at an altitude of 1,600 – 1,700 meters above sea level in this stunningly beautiful region they call “the city above the clouds”. The Hmong started migrating to Vietnam from China in the last 300 years.

In this region about half the Hmong are Catholic and half animistic. They live of the land growing rice and corn and they all believe in the spirits.

The Geiranger fjord (Geirangerfjorden) is a fjord in the Sunnmøre region, located in the southernmost part of the county Møre og Romsdal in Norway. It is a 15 km long branch of the Storfjord (Great Fjord). At the head in the fjord lies the small village of Geiranger.

The fjord is one of Norway's most visited tourist sites and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, jointly with Nærøyfjord, since 2005, although this status is now threatened by the disputed plans to build power lines across the fjord.

The Geirangerfjord is under constant threat from the mountain Åkerneset which is about to erode into the fjord. A collapse would produce a tsunami, hitting several nearby towns including Geiranger and Hellesylt in about ten minutes.

Along the fjord's sides there lie a number of now abandoned farms. Some restoration has been made by the 'Storfjordens venner' association (see external link below). The most commonly visited among these are Skageflå, Knivsflå, and Blomberg. Skageflå may also be reached on foot from Geiranger, while the others require a boat excursion. The fjord is also host to several impressive waterfalls.

A car ferry, which doubles as a sightseeing trip, is operated by Fjord1. It runs lengthwise along the fjord between the small towns of Geiranger and Hellesylt.

Midway Beach, Gisborne, New Zealand.

The tide was low and the clouds were rolling in, I was amazed by these cool cloud formations, a reflection was a must.

Aotearoa, New Zealand is the land of the long white cloud.

Place names are often difficult to translate, and the original derivation of Aotearoa is not known for certain. Many meanings have been given for the name. The word can be broken up as: aotea = cloud, and roa = long, (white being added in the translation as it is the most common colour of cloud) and it is accordingly most often glossed as "The land of the long white cloud".

Seen this shot before? well yes you have, I first posted it some 6 months ago, seen here, for that shot I used my father as a model. So here is the simple version.... and yeah, its pushed a little further this time.

About New Zealand

New Zealand is an island country in the south-western Pacific Ocean comprising two main landmasses (commonly called the North Island and the South Island), and numerous smaller islands, most notably Stewart Island/Rakiura and the Chatham Islands. The indigenous Māori named New Zealand Aotearoa, commonly translated as The Land of the Long White Cloud. The Realm of New Zealand also includes the Cook Islands and Niue (self-governing but in free association); Tokelau; and the Ross Dependency (New Zealand's territorial claim in Antarctica).

New Zealand is notable for its geographic isolation: it is situated about 2000 km (1250 miles) southeast of Australia across the Tasman Sea, and its closest neighbours to the north are New Caledonia, Fiji and Tonga. During its long isolation New Zealand developed a distinctive fauna dominated by birds, a number of which became extinct after the arrival of humans and the mammals they introduced.

The population of New Zealand is mostly of European descent; the indigenous Māori are the largest minority. Asians and non-Māori Polynesians are also significant minority groups, especially in urban areas. The most commonly spoken language is English.

Fansipan or Fan Si Pan (Phan Xi Păng in Vietnamese) is the highest mountain

in Southeast Asia, at 3,143 m. or 10,340 ft. Located in Lào Cai province in Northwest Vietnam, 9 km southwest of Sa Pa Township in the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range. Fansipan is dubbed "the Roof of Indochina"; it is to be approved as one of the very few ecotourism spots of Vietnam, with about 2,024 floral varieties and 327 faunal species. The topography of Fansipan is varied. Muong Hoa Valley, at the lowest altitude (950 to 1,000 m.), is created by a narrow strip of land at the base on the east side of the mountain.

Climbing Fansipan -- Fansipan Tourism companies in the area will arrange hikes to the summit taking from one to three days with a local guide. A very small village is located at around 1 500 m where accommodation and food is offered. Further up, at 2 800 m, is an overnight camp. Coordinates -- 22°18′12″N 103°46′31″E

New York is such an amazing city! I've never seen anything like the Times Square at night before. Really stunning!

Info:

New York City (officially The City of New York) is the largest city in the United States, with a metropolitan area that is among the largest urban areas in the world. The city serves as one of the world's primary global cities, exerting a powerful influence over worldwide commerce, finance, culture, and entertainment.

The city is also an important center for international affairs, hosting the headquarters of the United Nations.

Founded as a commercial trading post by the Dutch in 1624, it served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790, and has been the nation's largest city since 1790. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Wall Street, in Lower Manhattan, has been a dominant global financial center since World War II and is home to the New York Stock Exchange. Today, the city has many renowned landmarks and neighborhoods that are world famous. The city has been home to several of the tallest buildings in the world, including the Empire State Building and the twin towers of the former World Trade Center.

New York is the birthplace of many cultural movements, including the Harlem Renaissance in literature and visual art, abstract expressionism (also known as the New York School) in painting, and hip hop, punk, salsa, disco and Tin Pan Alley in music. It is also the home of Broadway theater.

New York City is located in the Northeastern United States, in southeastern New York State, approximately halfway between Washington, D.C. and Boston

West Side Story is a musical with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The musical's plot is based on William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

Set in New York in the mid-1950s, the musical explores the rivalry between two teenage gangs of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The young protagonist, Tony, who belongs to the Anglo gang (Jets), falls in love with Maria, the sister of the rival Puerto Rican gang's (Sharks) leader. The dark theme, sophisticated music, extended dance scenes, and focus on social problems marked a turning point in American musical theatre. Bernstein's score for the musical has become extremely popular; it includes "Something's Coming," "Maria," "America," "Somewhere," "Tonight," "Jet Song," "I Feel Pretty," "One Hand, One Heart," and "Cool."

The original 1957 Broadway production, directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins and produced by Robert E. Griffith and Harold Prince, marked Stephen Sondheim's Broadway debut. It ran for 732 performances (a successful run for the time), before going on tour. The production garnered a Tony Award nomination for Best Musical in 1957, but the award went to Meredith Willson's The Music Man. It won a Tony Award in 1957 for Robbins' choreography. The show had an even longer-running London production, a number of revivals and international success, and spawned an innovative, award-winning 1961 musical film of the same name. West Side Story is produced frequently by schools, regional theaters, and occasionally by opera companies.

Broadway theatre, commonly called simply Broadway, refers to theatrical performances presented in one of the 40 large professional theaters with 500 seats or more located in the Theatre District, New York (plus one theatre in Lincoln Center) in Manhattan, New York City. Along with London's West End theatre, Broadway theatre is usually considered to represent the highest level of commercial theatre in the English-speaking world.

The Broadway theatre district is a popular tourist attraction in New York City, New York. According to The Broadway League, Broadway shows sold approximately $937 million worth of tickets in the 2007-08 season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Times Square is a major intersection in Manhattan, a borough of New York City, at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. The Times Square area consists of the blocks between Sixth and Eighth Avenues from east to west, and West 40th and West 53rd Streets from south to north, making up the western part of the commercial area of Midtown Manhattan.

Formerly named Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed after the Times Building (now One Times Square) in April 1904. Times Square, sometimes known as the "Crossroads of the World," has achieved the status of an iconic world landmark and has become a symbol of New York City. Times Square is principally defined by its spectaculars, animated, digital advertisements.

The intersection of Broadway and 42nd Street, at the south-east corner of Times Square, is the Eastern Terminus of the Lincoln Highway, the first road across the United States of America.
