"In the shadow of the city, the light glows brightest."
I took this shot right before I left for Hawaii and I felt like taking a break from seascapes. I went for 6 shots with the camera in the portrait position. I overlap by about 1/5 of a frame when capturing the panoroma. I do this because when it comes time to stitch, I want as much source image as possible to sample from to take out those infamous trails in the water from the constant ferry, coastguard, and freighter traffic around the island. I do my stitching in Photoshop CS5 on the “reposition” setting. After the rendering is complete, I look for the seams and then I overlay the original source image on top of the panoramic image and mask in where the seams are visible. At least with lines in the water, after you get the knack of it, its quite forgiving. Sometimes the reflections can make it look like there's a seam where there isn't because of the way light hits the miniwaves and currents. The hard stuff is when you have a weird seam on hard structures such as building and bridges. The reason for this is in water or sky, often you can mask away the hard line in the seam at 100% opacity then feather it out by reducing the opacity of your brush. You can’t do that for hard objects, if you do you’ll wind up with transparent building and the like - not too pretty. I’m definitely better at the process than I was a year ago, so its all practice. Don’t forget to zoom in at 100%+ to look for the smallest seams. Panoramas can be ton’s of pixels and even the smallest seam gets big once you’ve printed it 20x60 inches!
The side-effects to using 7 shots to create the panorama is that it takes 3 min to make all the exposures and the light will change during that time unless a pure nighttime shot. To accentuate this I started on the right side where I knew it would be brightest (also where most of the ocean traffic comes from so you can stay ahead of them) and moved to the left. I did play with ISO slightly to adjust exposure as I panned left to keep the things close in terms of brightness. But I wanted it to be dark and glowy on the left. If you don’t, or have different lighting situations, pan the other way for more even light - you’ll start in the dark area when it’s brightest and move to the light area when it’s darkest. Changing the ISO only changes the noise level and not water smoothness (shutter speed) nor DoF (aperture) and with the 5D II, anything below 320 looks very very similar unless when viewed at 100+%.

Photo attached to this song of my singer revelation of the year.
When people who gave light to life, is gone, you feel abandoned.
In 1998, the Global Nature Foundation initiated steps for the recovery of Boada Lake( photo ) , distant only 11 km from the Laguna de la Nava ( photo ) and ecological characteristics very similar to this wetland.
With the support of the City of Boada and the Ministry of Environment already flooded 60 hectares of wetland.
You can see the thousands of waterfowl that visit this lake, especially the common goose, and that this wetland is the third most important area in Spain, with an annual quota of 10,000 and 12. 000.
Thousands of waterfowl down every winter in the lagoons of La Nava and Boada, mallards, teal and ducks spoons
During the spring and summer, lapwings, stilts, coots redshanks and bring to front their brood in the shallow waters of the wetland.
Before the fall several thousand small birds such as mosquito nets, warblers and swallows feed and rest in the creeks and marsh vegetation.
The vast cereal that surround both lakes are home to an interesting community of steppe birds. Species such as the Great Bustard, Sandgrouse, Montagu's harrier or calendar are in this area a unique habitat in Europe..
This was the sunrise over Seattle this morning, my friends. It was one of the most phenomenal sunrises I had seen in months. You can see Mount Rainier, Washington State’s tallest mountain (and dormant volcano) that dominates the horizon on unbelievably clear days such as this one.
An impromptu decision to curtail my morning workout at the gym gave way to serendipity, which led me to capture this image today. If I had followed my regular routine this morning, I would have completely missed this.
This image was taken from the balcony of my apartment. Enjoy!

Here is another shot from our trip to the backwaters in Kerala. this is what people living in these areas see on a daily basis. The beautiful Sunset across the array of coconut tress makes for an enchanting scene and for me, a first time visitor to this part of the world, it was nothing less than magical.
On the technical front, I'm not completely happy with this image. The light was too harsh and was difficult to handle the exposure. This is the best I could achieve after processing it but some good GND filters would have made my life easier and I'm planning to invest in them something soon.
Have a wonderful day ahead, my friends.

A kaleidoscope is a circle of mirrors containing loose, colored objects such as beads or pebbles and bits of glass. As the viewer looks into one end, light entering the other end creates a colorful pattern, due to the reflection off the mirrors.
This is a processed photograph where a single photo is twirled at Photoshop and then mirrored twice to give a kaleidoscope effect. Thanks Evan for the tutorial!

oooooooh its heavily raining here. i went out with raincoat to take a flower shot, since there were drops on it, i got an idea to make this as flower-drop shot.
you all know that i used to hold the thing with drops in my left hand and camera in right, but this time though i was holding only my non-SLR camera in hand, i faced difficult in making the shot, as wind was blowing along with the drizzling rain.
i managed to take this shot and returned back with this droplet shot and droplets on my camera

A little bit of autumn color for you ... before winter gets here!! I have so many autumn photos I took before I left for my Yosemite trip. I spent a few hours at a local nature center. I was the only one there; the light & the colors fabulous!!
Happy "Fall Color" Monday!
Taken from my hotel room on the 22nd floor of the Cerulean Tower Hotel in Shibuya , Tokyo .
The Hotel actually had 40 floors on the elevator so I asked the concierge in my most polite japanese if it was possible for me to go higher up to make a photo ?
He said I could from the restaurant but it opens at 11am and unfortunately I had to leave at by 7.30 for the airport . I can only imagine how spectacular that view must have been. Shikata ga nai !
Finally I got a change to enjoy my seascape fetish for couple of days. A successful weekend trip with my friend Örvar Atli to the north of Iceland, visiting some "hidden gems" and less visited places of our part.
Ernan is a shipswreck at Borgarsandur, near Sauðárkrókur in Skagafjörður, north Iceland. The remaining ship is only visible on low tide, so for successful photography it's pretty hard to plan to visit it during sunset/sunrise unless having the tide figured out also. So it's really a hidden gem.

Another shot from my Oregon Zoo tour. This guy is the coolest. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it’s too bad Lions are so dangerous otherwise they would make the perfect 21st century family pet. Heck YAH I’d walk down the street with one of these on a leash. Ya think anyone would bother me? Who needs a watch dog when you can have a watch cat? The only problem would be carrying a shovel and shopping bag instead of one of those small plastic doggie bag thingies for......well......you know. =)
A temple snuck in at the junction of the hillsides. An oddment in Ladakh as there is no Hindu population large enough to build temples. You have Buddhists in majority and they have their monasteries to go to. There are few Moslems and that is all.
This is a temple located enroute to Pangongtso and lies at the base of the actual climb to the Changla Pass. The deft touch of hybrid construction and assimilation with Buddhism is all there to see. The prayer flags in red, yellow, blue and white fluttering briskly in the cold breeze are the visible hallmarks of Buddhist temples.
Peace and Prayers flow everywhere, religions are localized. These makeshift temples are courtsey the Army and there you have the Hindu population for you.

My husband was concerned, the sky was very dark then maybe we would not see sunset in Naples, he had already visited the city and the beaches, but for my sister Miriam, my son, Jose Luis and I, it was our first time, I I told him that the sun would beat the clouds and as we expected this time of sunset, the boat gave us this picture worthy of retention and remember in our hearts.
I did not use textures here just added my signature with my photoshop program.
