I took this shot during the channel boat parade that the city of Amsterdam organized for the Dutch (orange) soccer team for reaching the second place at the Fifa World Cup 2010. It was an amazing party and I had a lot of fun. This shot was taken just before the boat with the players arrived and as you can see the people where ready for them. Oranje boven!!!!! (Translated: Orange above all)

Here is one from last summer. Lately I've been shooting everything in HDR and felt like I wanted to step away from that for a minute. I shot this photo about 15 minutes after sunset from the Fort Point National Historic Site. I was there for the full sunset and was shooting off multiple bracketed exposures. As things died down and I was getting ready to leave I decided to capture a few non- bracketed photos.
This one is my favorite of the series. For the most part it's SOOC... I say "for the most part" because I adjusted the clarity and contrast. I also leveled the horizon and gave a small crop.

Fort Point is located at the southern side of the Golden Gate at the entrance to San Francisco Bay. This fort was completed just before the American Civil War, to defend San Francisco Bay against hostile warships. The fort is now protected as Fort Point National Historic Site, a United States National Historic Site administered by the National Park Service as a unit of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

My buddy has always had quite a few birds at his place about 1/2 hour outside the city in Beaverbank (don't laugh) but after he installed this funky new feeder they just come in droves!
I've only ever had one pair at my place!! sheesh...

Lake Powell is a reservoir on the Colorado River, straddling the border between Utah and Arizona. It is the second largest man-made reservoir in the United States behind Lake Mead, storing 24,322,000 acre feet (30 km³) of water when full. Lake Powell was created by the flooding of Glen Canyon by the controversial Glen Canyon Dam.
We spent the night in this beautiful, isolated virgin Island called North Cay. The Experience was grand!
Its been two years since I tried water drops from a sink, so I finally decided to try this again. Fun stuff. SOO much harder than it looks.
Ok, I have spent the last week working on an H20 project. Water is our life-source. I thought I would try and capture different ways to view water. I look forward to sharing more water pictures with you!

So this was taken in Engalnd. :) And that is my nephew Alex,, he is 14 and now looking to buy a camera haha.
The camera he is holding is a new film camera my grandad gave to me, it's a nikon f65:D:D, so expect some film pictures in the next few weeks :D.
He also gave me 2 lenses, :D :D:D so i'm pretty chuffed :D

Hello again everyone. This is a sunset shot from Buffalo Point on Antelope Island on the eastern side of the Great Salt Lake in Utah. This was a shot that came at a very heavy price! Numerous Biting Gnats and mosquitoes were hungrily attacking me as I shot this series of photos! They did not only have me to dine upon, but my nephew and my nieces!
Behind us was a great thunderstorm show, and I kept rotating my camera around to try and catch the lightning! Dang it! Every time I moved it or repositioned my camera, a lightning bolt would strike! Oh well not in the cards for this time.
Tomorrow starts my 5 day photo tour of the Palouse region in eastern Washington. I am extremely excited about that. I have just spent the last day and a half in Glacier National Park. Hopefully I can get a shot or two posted later this week in between all of the awesome crop shots I am about to get.
This is a combination of three exposures (+2, 0, -2) merged and tonemapped in Photomatix. I then used Topaz Adjust to help bring some pop to the exposure and final adjustments in Lightroom 2.

This is by far my biggest project/photo to date. It consists of 35 RAW/NEF Images stitched in photoshop. Its original size is a whooping 1.2GB . Not to mention all the warping, distortions and perspectives :) LOL

This picture was shot on a tripod with three exposures (-2..0..+2..EV). I used Photomatix to create the HDR with tone mapping and detail enhanced. I increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. 1 layer mask for the sky to increase color and contrast. 1 layer mask in soft light mode at 50% gray, using brush tool to lighten and darken some areas of the image, to bring out details. Used Nik Sharpener Pro to sharpen image.

Last week, I received my "big stopper" and I was itching to get out and use it; so, I headed out to the coast and eventually landed in Pacifica, CA. This city is usually blanketed by fog so I was really crossing my fingers for some nice clouds. As I arrived it started to sprinkle, so I pulled out my golf umbrella and shot away. The rain continued so I had no choice but to shoot the pier from this location. The rain eventually gave up and I shot other comps, but to be honest I liked this one the best. Long exposures (B&W) are not as easy as you think and takes lots of patience. By the way, the "big stopper" is a must in every landscape photographer's bag. It's so much easier then the round screw on type.

This was a shot I came across while my sister was getting dressed; the sun was shining on this side of the house. So as soon as she got here wedding dress on I told her to stand at the window. I had to use the flash in this cease because of the major over lighting, this made the back of her dress light up so that you can see some of the details.
I my (sort) experience I found out that photos with just the bride that are over lighted have a great result. The only thing I don’t like is the dark speck on the right side, but there is nothing I can do about that.

Yes, that was a real "inferno" (hell). In a few minutes, this storm will have flooded the whole town (including my area). In some areas, people have seen several inches of hail. I did not report major problems to my house at the end, but in some places the water was above waist line... Seconds after this scary shot (taken in Ponte di Brenta), I started to run back to the car to take cover and there I stood for more than an hour before I could move on... what a storm... !

Sì, un vero Inferno! Fra qualche minuto la tempesta avrebbe colpito ed allagato tutta la città, inclusa la mia zona. In alcuni punti, si sono rilevati diversi centimetri di grandine.
Alla fine non ho subito danni rilevanti a casa, ma in alcune aree l'acqua è arrivata all'altezza della cintura...
Alcuni secondi dopo questo scatto un po' pauroso (da Ponte di Brenta), sono corso alla macchina per trovare riparo e lì sono rimasto per più di un'ora prima di potermi muovere... mamma mia che tempesta...!

THE GATES OF HELL
Not far from The Thinker stands Rodin's monumental masterpiece, The Gates of Hell, installed in the garden of the Museum in 1937. By a decree of 16 August 1880, Rodin received a commission from the Directorate of Fine Arts for a monumental door which was to be decorated with low reliefs inspired by The Divine Comedy of Dante. This door was intended for the planned Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris to be built on the site of the Cour des Comptes, demolished in 1871 (this site is now occupied by the Musée d'Orsay). The subject was probably suggested by Rodin for it is known that he admired Dante and used to keep a copy of his book in his pocket. He started to work feverishly in a studio specially allocated to him for the purpose at the Dépôt des Marbres in Rue de l'Université. His initial idea was a composition in panels similar to the Door of Paradise in the Baptistery of Florence by Ghiberti (1425-1452). However, he soon changed his mind about dividing the door into sections, preferring the example of Michelangelo's Last Judgement in the Sistine Chapel. The third maquette (exhibited in room 10) shows that already in 1880 its composition was close to the one finally adopted.

Space shuttle Atlantis lifted off successfully from Kennedy Space Center this afternoon. This will likely be its final mission, and what a way to go! Perfect weather, beautiful blue sky, and relatively few snags during countdown. We drove down to Titusville for my first close viewing of a day launch.
Space View Park was packed when we arrived about 3.5 hours before liftoff, and the view from any available spots was obstructed by trees. We found room at the end of the adjacent tidal bay with a straight view to the launch pad. It looked like there was a bit of dry land a few feet down at the base of the wall along Indian River Avenue, and we figured I could walk a bit north to ensure that the covered dock didn't block my view of Launch Pad 39A. That didn't work out so well... and the process of discovering this served as entertainment for the crowd and left me with smelly mucky feet! Fortunately, some generous onlookers allowed me join them them on the wall in the coveted area. I sat next to a man and his son who came all the way from London, England to see Atlantis leave Earth for the last time. At least a hundred spectators waded out onto a sandbar in the water to get a similar view.
Needless to say, the launch was incredible!!! : )

this morning was quite frosty, a little surprising for the middle of may.
my fingers were freezing while taking this.. and it took ages to warm them back up after holding my camera super still for a while.
but it was a lovely morning!
Today, Margreet and I went to Ghent Belgium.
It was a cold and windy day, but we had fun.
We went for coffee and a group of Spanish people came in.
Margreet (Margaretha) is from Spain, so she asked a nice man ;-))
to take a picture of us. And although this is a "snapshot",
I love the way how he captured the incoming light and the outside view!

My favorite image from a wonderful trip this last Sunday to Coal Mine Canyon. This marvelous canyon is vast, deep, and filled with amazing colors of geological layers and hoodoos. If you took a quick glance at this photo you'd think it was the Grand Canyon, but that is over to the west by about 150 miles. This location is on the Navajo reservation and you buy a permit in Cameron (at the trading post) for hiking. You are not ok to hike down into the canyon because there is a dividing line of sorts between the Navajo and Hopi and a dispute of some sort. The Hopi do not sell permits for their side of this canyon. But I can tell you there are plenty of places up on this top rim to climb about and see wonders. Some of the hoodoos there are so much like what you think of a Bryce and Zion in Utah. I highly recommend this trip. Mark and I were the only people out there on a perfect afternoon and evening for photography. Just think, hours and hours alone in this place. Yes, cobalt here was in Heaven for sure.

Stopped of at the coast last night on the way to a party as there were some fantastic clouds around. I got some pics but I've never missed so many shots in such a short period of time, always arriving just a few seconds to late for a rainbow or whatever.
A little more than a year ago I was upload a single tree on a field. I used the same tones like here to compensate the poor light and overcast sky. I also used a 16:7 format the first time.
Even though the field is a completely different one, there are parallels to that one shot. I was driving to my grandmother's when I passed this hill and those cars on top of them. I don't know what they were up to, cause I couldn't see the other side of the hill. Was it just like a sunday morning hill party or an occult?
