I think I may have over-cooked the post-production a little bit! There was more light pollution on this side of the mountain than previous Milky Way shot I posted. It resulted in more colour variation in the night sky and I’m not sure oranges and blues will be to everyone’s liking.
Location: Pico do Remal, Madeira.
Equipment: Nikon D7000, Nikkor 10-24mm @10mm, F3.5, ISO 3200, 30sec.
Post-production: (quite a) curve layers used, and masked, to adjust the local colour balance and emphasise the beauty of our galaxy. The details can all be found on Kenneth Brandon’s excellent video tutorial... www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOAmP7A_x6c

Buren's Rings (also called The Rings) is a work of Daniel Buren and Patrick Bouchain located on the Quai des Antilles in Nantes (island of Nantes).
Along the Loire and the bananas shed, the work consists of 18 rings, 4 meters diameter, silver colored, attached to the railing of the pier, located at equal distance, one behind the other. At night, the rings are illuminated red, green and blue alternating.
The Rings were created to allow interpretation for the visitor. Nevertheless Daniel Buren wanted to include his work in the history of the city and its geography. Thus, circles refer to the rings which enclosed and imprisoned slaves, with reference to the triangular trade. Nantes was the hub of this eighteenth century trade.
Similarly, they evoke wedding rings uniting the river, sea and land on a space at the intersection of the elements.
The rings are installed on old bollards which the artist has met the number, timing and layout. The work was conceived so that his night vision is completely different from its daytime vision. During the day, the rings made of galvanized steel invite the visitor's eye to sweep all the surrounding landscape, while the night lights LEDs offer the dominant bright, colorful games that intertwine and merge into each other.

One Angel Square
One Angel Square[1] is an office building in Manchester, England. Construction work began in 2010 and was completed in February 2013. The landmark building is the head office of the Co-operative Group. Standing 72.5 metres (237.8 feet) tall, the building forms the centrepiece of the new £800 million NOMA development in the northern quarter of Manchester city centre. The building cost at least £105 million to construct and was sold on leaseback terms in 2013 for £142 million.
One Angel Square is one of the most sustainable large buildings in Europe and is built to a BREEAM 'Outstanding' rating. It is powered by a biodiesel cogeneration plant using rapeseed oil to provide electricity and heat. The structure makes use of natural resources, maximising passive solar gain for heat and using natural ventilation through its double-skin facade, adiabatic cooling, rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling and waste heat recycling.
The building's distinctive form has been compared to a sliced egg and a ship.[16] Its design was announced by architects 3DReid in May 2009 and construction began in July 2010 with a projected completion date in March 2013. In December 2012, the scheme surpassed its pan-European sustainability aims and achieved a world-record BREEAM score of 95.32%. It is also an energy-plus building, producing surplus energy and zero carbon emissions. The building has received numerous awards for its striking aesthetic and sustainability aims.

The Rainy Day
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
By Simran Khurana
.
The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
,
And the day is dark and dreary.
Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark...

Ross Abbey, Headford, County Galway, Ireland
The Ross Errilly Friary is a medieval Franciscan friary located about a mile to the northwest of Headford, County Galway, Ireland. It is a National Monument of Ireland and among the best-preserved medieval monastic sites in the country. Though usually referred to by locals as "Ross Abbey," this is not technically correct as the community never had an abbot.
Like many other abandoned Christian sites in Ireland, Ross Errilly has continued to be used as a burial ground by area residents. In addition to tombs that date from the friary's active period, many graves dating from the 18th through 20th centuries can be found inside the church walls. In some cases, tombstones comprise the floors of walkways and crawlspaces.

I didn’t even realise that this wonderful natural formation even existed until recently. I was in the western coast of Ireland when I found out and located this barely known arch stack!
It is located on a small peninsula called Crohy Head. Very difficult to climb down too and you even have to use a rope that is attached to some rocks on the cliff face! Amazing location with this very unique sea arch

Stuttgart is the only city in Germany where wine is grown within the urban area, mainly in the districts of Rotenberg, Uhlbach and Untertürkheim.
Stuttgart is still one of Germany's largest wine-growing cities with more than 400 hectares of vine area, thanks in main to its location at the centre of Germany's fourth largest wine region, the Württemberg wine growing area which covers 11,522 hectares (28,470 acres) and is one of only 13 official areas captured under German Wine law. The continuing importance of wine to the local economy is marked every year at the annual wine festival ('Weindorf'). (Wikipedia)

The day began before dawn on a cold day at the top of Mt Haleakalā. We easily descended miles into the crater on the Shifting Sands Trail with all our camera gear on our backs, happily shooting dozens of photos of this amazing moonscape. At some point we realized, oh we should turn around and head back up, mindful we had descended at least 4 miles. Halfway up we discussed leaving our precious tripods at the side of the trail, 3/4 of the way up we were ready to leave all our gear behind to save ourselves from heart attacks. Slowly and with many stops, we made it back to the car with all our equipment in tow. A day not to be forgotten, despite the pain I'd do it all over again to be part of that magnificent landscape. We are told NEVER shoot directly into the sun, I believe rules are made to be broken, how else would I have captured this colorful flare?

Rhodes(Greek: Ρόδος, Ródos, IPA: [ˈro̞ðo̞s]; Italian: Rodi; Ottoman Turkish: ردوس Rodos; Ladino: Rodi or Rodes) is a Greek island approximately 18 kilometers (11 mi) southwest of Turkey in eastern Aegean Sea. It is the largest of the Dodecanese islands in terms of both land area and population, with a population of 117,007[2] of which 53,709 resided in the homonymous capital city of the island.
Historically, Rhodes was famous worldwide for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The medieval Old Town of the City of Rhodes has been declared a World Heritage Site. Today Rhodes is a tourist destination.
The island of Rhodes is shaped like a spearhead, 79.7 km (49.5 mi) long and 38 km (24 mi) wide, with a total area of approximately 1,400 square kilometers (541 sq mi) and a coastline of approximately 220 km (137 mi). The city of Rhodes is located at the northern tip of the island, as well as the site of the ancient and modern commercial harbors.
In the 1st century AD, the Emperor Tiberius spent a brief term of exile on Rhodes, and Saint Paul brought Christianity to the island. Rhodes reached her zenith in the third century, and was then by common consent the most civilized and beautiful city in Hellas. In 395, the long Byzantine Empire period began for Rhodes, when the Roman Empire was split and the eastern half gradually became a Greek empire. Although part of Byzantium for the next thousand years, Rhodes was nevertheless repeatedly attacked by various forces. It was first occupied by Muslim forces of Muawiyah I in 672. Much later, Rhodes was retrieved for the Byzantine Emperor Alexius I Comnenus during the First Crusade.
In 1309 the Byzantine era came to an end when the island was occupied by forces of the Knights Hospitaller. Under the rule of the newly named "Knights of Rhodes", the city was rebuilt into a model of the European medieval ideal. Many of the city's famous monuments, including the Palace of the Grand Master, were built during this period.
The strong walls which the Knights had built withstood the attacks of the Sultan of Egypt in 1444, and of Mehmed II in 1480. Ultimately, however, Rhodes fell to the large army of Suleiman the Magnificent in December 1522, long after the rest of the Byzantine empire had been lost. The few surviving Knights were permitted to retire to the Kingdom of Sicily. The Knights would later move their base of operations to Malta. The island was thereafter a possession of the Ottoman Empire for nearly four centuries.

Denver is also the second most populous county in Colorado after El Paso County. Denver is a consolidated city and county located in the South Platte River Valley on the western edge of the High Plains just east of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The Denver downtown district is located immediately east of the confluence of Cherry Creek with the South Platte River, approximately 12 miles (19 km) east of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Denver is nicknamed the Mile-High City because its official elevation is exactly one mile or 5,280 feet (1,609.3 m) above sea level, making it one of the highest major cities in the United States.The 105th meridian west of Greenwich passes through Union Station and is the temporal reference for the Mountain Time Zone.
