I wish you all a wonderful weekend, my friends!

I took this photo on a snow shoe hike at Sudelfeld, an area that belongs to the Bavarian Alps. The light was just great at this afternoon...there is nothing better than combining two passions - hiking and photography...

You will notice the Romanesque vault in transversal cradles and its arches with double roller and 2 colors. It is an almost unique case in Burgundy, only the rural church of Mont Saint-Vincent has a similar architecture.

Texel is an island in the province of North Holland in the Netherlands. It is the largest and most populated island of the West Frisian Islands in the Wadden Sea. The island is situated north of Den Helder. The dune landscape on Texel is a unique habitat for wildlife. Notable areas include De Slufter, where the tide comes in and meets the dunes, forming a marshy environment rich in both fauna and flora. Texel is known for its wildlife, particularly in winter, when birds of prey and geese take up residence. About one third of Texel is a protected nature reserve. Nature is at its most unspoilt and raw at the most southerly tip of the island. In particular, the De Hors sandbar shows you how nature goes about its work. New dunes are evolving all the time due to the effects of wind and water. The peace and quiet and the wide open expanses induce an inner calm. The bracing air at De Hors give new energy. This extensive stretch of sand came about as a result of the shifting sandbanks converging with Texel. Nature has free range on this exposed expanse of sand, creating space for the development of new dunes on which marram and rush grass can flourish. The area is also a favourite nesting spot for little terns.

The National Park Dunes of Texel covers roughly the entire dune area, including sandbank The Hors. On the northern edge of The Hors a lot of sand supply. There is wonderful to see how dune formation is done. Man grabs choose not to, given the nature free play. Kanitha exploring the northern edge of the Hors dunes.

Lying halfway between Lisbon and Oporto in the Beiras region of central Portugal, venerable Coimbra nestles on the banks of the River Mondego in dignified glory. Famed for its university - the oldest in the country - and a fantastic collection of handsome churches, serene monasteries, and lively cultural institutions, Coimbra is also a busy commercial hub with its many shops, boutiques, and appetizing choice of cafés and restaurants. The city center is divided into two neighborhoods, the Lower Town and the Upper Town. Its historic heart lies high above the Mondego on Alcaçova hill, known to the Romans as Aeminium. Here, medieval convents, cathedrals, and some fine museums cluster around the old University. Kings were born in Coimbra; they are entombed here, too. Indeed, it was once the proud capital of the Portuguese nation. This royal heritage permeates the city's steep hills, narrow lanes, and verdant parks, all of which are best explored on foot. And exploration further afield is rewarded with the largest and most compelling Roman site in Portugal, and an emerald-hued forest of enchanting allure and breathtaking beauty.

In terms of historic significance and romantic beauty, Coimbra is second only to Lisbon and Oporto. Its ancient buildings cling to the side of the hill that rises above the curves of the river Mondego, the ornate buildings of the famous University of Coimbra are its crowning glory. We are accessing the old part of the city through the Arco de Almedina, we find the old cathedral known as Se Velha. The most picturesque way to enter Coimbra's labyrinth of lanes is via Arco de Almedina. Coimbra's upper town rises quickly and picturesquely from the banks of the Rio Mondego. Photo taken from Hotel Astória.

Fabulous Geisler Dolomites and the Gschnagenhardt Alm (Malga Casnago), South Tyrol, Italy 2015.

A good friend of mine Bruce Livingston sent me an image of a pipe organ and asked if I might use it as it really was a very cool geometric pattern shot. I have been playing around with it for a couple of weeks and it was going to make an appearance last week but I went a bit in another direction. I went back to the shot and carrying the theme of the New York Sykline, it managed to get stirred into the soup and produced many of the shapes and lines in this rather unique view of the New York Skyline as seen from the Staten Island Ferry. This is one of those slides that I just kept following to see where the work was going to take me, a twisted path but I love the looseness and fluidity of the lines. Only three images were used, a building facade, a pipe organ and some tourists taking a picture of the skyline from the ferry.

Thank you Bruce for letting me use your shot, probably didn't see this coming :).

This view of the Vieux Lyon and Saint John cathedral filled me with joy

Last pause on the steep stairs rising to Fourvière, i was red when reaching the top of the stairs! The outstanding view of the Vieux Lyon ("old Lyon") and Saint John cathedral, which emerges still more, rewarded me well for the effort.

NB: I hesitated to choose between this shot and the first of the rise (see comment below) that each show the stairs I had to climb.

But finally, i got to put each online in Flickr, because i think they are both worth of it.
