Rodas es la ciudad principal de la isla griega de Rodas, en el sudeste del mar Egeo, y la capital de la prefectura del Dodecaneso. Rodas ha sido famosa desde la antigüedad por ser la sede del Coloso,una de las Siete Maravillas del Mundo Antiguo.
Su posición la convierte en un cruce de caminos entre Europa, Oriente Medio y África. Esta localización ha supuesto que a lo largo de la historia hayan pasado por la isla diferentes culturas, arquitecturas, lenguas, etc., lo que ha dejado una gran riqueza cultural en la isla. Se cree que está habitada desde el período neolítico.
En el centro de la Ciudad actual de Rodas está el núcleo antiguo, dedicado en su totalidad al turismo junto al puerto de Mandraki. Lo forma la ciudad medieval, con sus calles empedradas, las fortalezas y edificios antiguos reformados, y alguna mezquita. Cabe mencionar las murallas y fortalezas, el Palacio de los Grandes Maestres de la Orden,el Hospital (hoy Museo Arqueológico)... La ciudad vieja está llena de tiendas donde trabajan seis mil personas y se venden toda clase de recuerdos, con el centro comercial en la calle de Sokratos.

Just had a look in my archive and found this one. It was taken last year in spring in the surrounding of my hometown Fellbach (Region Stuttgart, Germany). The path goes up to a small hill from which you have a beautiful view at the forest and the river Neckar.
I like the curves and the way in which the trail runs through the photo.
Bei einem Blick in mein Archiv fand ich dieses Bild. Ich habe es letztes Jahr im Frühjahr hier bei Fellbach aufgenommen. Der Wanderweg führt auf einen kleinen Hügel von dem aus ein wunderschöner Blick auf den Wald und den Neckar möglich ist.
Mir gefielen die Kurven und die Art wie der Weg durch das Foto verläuft.

El día cuatro de Junio de mil novecientos ochenta y cinco, a primeras horas de la tarde, despega de San Javier la formación "AGUILA" compuesta por cinco aviones C-101. La misión: realizar un entrenamiento de maniobras acrobáticas en formación y tratar de hacer un primer estudio del comportamiento del avión al ser sometido a las exigencias específicas de un vuelo de exhibición".
Son las primeras palabras escritas en el Diario de Operaciones de la Patrulla Aguila, heredera de la tradición acrobática del Ejercito del Aire y fruto de la ilusión y esfuerzo de un grupo de profesores de la Academia General del Aire, apoyados siempre por todo el personal destinado en la misma. Es justo recordar aquí al entonces capitán CARRIZOSA, auténtico impulsor, líder y "alma mater" del equipo, y sin el cual probablemente no estaríamos leyendo esto.

This is CPII with his EYE keenly focused on his buddy, the squirrel, that lives in an Oak Tree in our back yard.
I had just returned from taking a shot or two of a rose and caught his intensity with a 100mm Macro lens. Not my lens of choice but I fired away because of the opportunity to capture this pose. I thought it turned out pretty cool and decided to share..
Needs to be viewed LARGE or ORIGINAL to see the focus of his eye. The image starts to blur out quickly because the lens was stopped up to f/2.8 at the time. thanks....

A long exposure of a moving ferris wheel.

I shot this on a tripod, using a polarizing filter to make the sky a darker blue to contrast the bright lights, and a 2 Sec. selftimer. I like the diffraction stars created by the small aperture that I used.
I opened the RAW file in ACR and used a new preset I made to give an image a slight HDR feel by increasing the contrast and recovering the highlights and adding detail to the shadows. Pretty well it increases the fill light and recovery sliders, then compensates for lack of contrast by increasing the blacks. The detail is added by the clarity slider and the tone curve is manipulated to tune the global contrast of the image. Since I agressively increased the contrast of the image I decreased the saturation and increased the vibrance to compensate and tweaked each colour's hue to make them look the way I wanted.
I opened the RAW file in CS4 and blended it using luminousity blending mode with another layer that didn't have the ACR adjustments that I had done, I lowered the layer's opacity to control the HDR-like effects to the image and removed some of the annoying halos around the shadow areas. I used the patch tool to remove a large pole to the left of the frame and finished it off with the cloning tool. I cropped the bottom of the frame slightly to remove a boring portion of the image. At the end I saved a 16 bit TIFF file, converted to sRGB colourspace and saved as a JPEG to upload to the internet.

One of our tours in northern Spain along the Atlantic coast brought us to the fishing village Bermeo, which still preserved the atmosphere of a typical fishing port.
As I discovered the ropes with the boats in the background, they encouraged me to play with the depth of field. You can see the second picture in my comment.

Nice to view Large On Black
Eine unserer Touren in Nordspanien entlang der Atlantikküste brachte uns nach Bermeo einem Fischerort, in dessen Hafen die typische Fischereiatmosphäre noch erhalten ist.
Der Anblick der Taue mit den dahinter liegenden Booten reizte mich zum Spiel mit der Tiefenschärfe. Das zweite Foto seht ihr in meinem Kommentar.

I took this shot during the channel boat parade that the city of Amsterdam organized for the Dutch (orange) soccer team for reaching the second place at the Fifa World Cup 2010. It was an amazing party and I had a lot of fun. This shot was taken just before the boat with the players arrived and as you can see the people where ready for them. Oranje boven!!!!! (Translated: Orange above all)

Nikon vs Canon | View On Black
I'm not particularly fond of taking pictures of my gear. They're boring and meant to be used as tools to produce the images that we all appreciate.
My kid brother and I were busy preparing for the stunt ride event at Reno and had all our gears laid out on the floor. I was looking at the mess on the floor and It hit me, I was seeing the ultimate rivalry between us both -- Canon vs Nikon! So... I convinced him (more like pestered) to setup his studio lighting. After some cajoling, he agreed to do it. Of course, he was complaining and murmuring while doing the setup. I was helping him out, but in the back of my head I was laughing, having the sense of satisfaction that I was emerging as the winner between us "rivals" -- that was the evil me.
Who do you think is the winner?
OH! I would like to remind everyone that having the best gear does not make you a photographer. It's the artistic eye behind the lens that matters. :)
Somebody once told me that EOS stands for Every Other Shot (no offense, pun intended). :p

Technique/Processing
Two exposures (one shorter one longer) for the buildings and the statue. The exifs you see on flickr are for those shots.
The sky has been shot at ISO 3200 and f/2.8 to get as much stars as possible.

My buddy has always had quite a few birds at his place about 1/2 hour outside the city in Beaverbank (don't laugh) but after he installed this funky new feeder they just come in droves!

Esta es la parte central de Dubai. En principio no parece tan grande pero la carretera que lo cruza (Sheikh Zayed road) tiene 6 carriles a cada lado. Si algún día alguien viene a esta ciudad llegará al aeropuerto que queda donde el infinito empieza a estar verde y la primer imagen que se tiene de Dubai es cruzar en coche por esta carretera flanqueada por estas torres. Muchas cosas son criticables pero esta imagen en especial, y dejando a un lado los gustos arqutectónicos de cada uno, es espectacular.
