I couldn't resist taking this shot, even though I know there a lot of sky/sunset shots out there from far more picturesque locations than my kitchen window!
The cloud momentarily looked rather like some kind of cartoonish creature running across the sky...
As a side note, I know the processing may not to be all's taste, but it's surprisingly close to what was actually there. London can manage some pretty good skies when it puts it's mind to it.
It's interesting seeing the fisherman come in early morn and with all the clothing - long gum boots, hat ++ and just wade into the water.
I have been to this spot a few times and this was the only time I got this........one from archives - long forgotten. Shot with my 18-200VR lens...not great at the long range...a bit soft which I do not like !!!! but loved the fisherman, and the mist rising up in the backend
single exposure. tuned thru lightroom and CS

Coastal Obsession
Lately, I've been obsessed with a little stretch of coast on Highway 1 spanning from Laguna Creek up to Panther Beach between Santa Cruz and Davenport. In fact, five of the last six seascape shots I've posted have been from two of the beaches in this stretch.
My lunch breaks, although always late in the afternoon, no longer coincide with sunset. I am waiting patiently for daylight savings time to spring forward and have sunsets be after work!
This is my first semi-serious attempt at a panoramic, as I actually spent setting up. I do not have any special gear other than a nice tripod with a ballhead with panning base. I leveled the tripod and leveled the ballhead clamp and shot in vertical format and is comprised of seven images stitched together.
I want to go back here for sunrise or sunset and try it again. Until then, I have this as a reminder of my obsession. And Aaron, the weather says rain, but the windows certainly are nice!

What do you do on a sunday? Right! As a reputable person you go to church! So did I!
But not for prayin' :-) hehe.
Somehow I ain't to satisfied with this shot.. or to be honest: I think it somehow sucks.
But after having spent at least 2 hours editing it I thought it would still upload it to hear your HONEST opinion. I don't want you "to put lipstick on a pig" (that's how Leo translates the German "schönreden")
PLEASE (!!!) critizize this shot! I somehow find church HDRs very difficult and once again I salute the incredible ARTIE - the master of (church) HDRs.

Capaccio loc.
Capaccio loc. Capo di Fiume (SA) - Italy
At the foot of Mount Calpazio, whose peaks are called Monte Soprano north and south Monte Sottano, we find this wonderful place called the head of river, from rich sources of water that are a branch of the river Calore that passes under the mountain and from which derives its name from the city of Capaccio, from the Latin Caput Acquae.
Capo di Fiume is an absolutely beautiful place, between the natural beauty there is a restaurant converted from an old mill surrounded by many streams in which the course is made up of water.
There is a lake which shows only one column of an ancient Greek temple, here shooting step, it is also an ideal habitat for various aquatic birds and presents an interesting phenomenon at the point from which rises the water, many air bubbles rising from the bottom to the surface, making the place even more fascinating and unusual.

When Andrew, our guide at Rattray’s said, “we’re going to see some Buffalos”, we couldn’t have guessed what impressive spectacle was waiting for us. We drove up to the area and he parked the car .. We saw some buffalos, but they were a bit far off. I looked at Andrew a bit confused but he just leaned back and smiled.
Soon it became clear why…. More Buffalos came up on the field… and more… and more. Pretty soon the car was surrounded by a herd of hundreds of them (see picture below). I could have easily touched them. We’ve spent a good part of an hour with them, before they moved on.. slowly.
Know that, although it looks like your average herd of cows, buffalos are considered one of the most dangerous animals of Africa. They have no fear. You can feel that when you look in their eyes. We've been chased by a (wounded) Buffalo Bull once a couple of years ago, no pre-warning; he just attacked out of the blue. Just escaped from him hitting the rental car we drove - and I have a very healthy respect for them!
One of the nicest things about a herd of Buffalos is that they are always in the company of ‘Red Billed Oxpeckers’. These busy little birds feed on the ticks on the hide of the grazing Buffalos and they fill the air with their constant chatter.
Guess on this shot it's not really hard to see how they got their name.. :-)

When:

About:
Sir Sandford Fleming established a summer retreat on the property fronting the Northwest Arm, part of Halifax Harbour, during the 1880s after finishing construction of the Intercolonial Railway. He called it the "Dingle".
In 1908, Fleming donated the property to the citizens of Halifax for use as a park and proposed the construction of a tower within the "Dingle" to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of representative government in Nova Scotia; the province having been the first colony in the British Empire outside the United Kingdom to have such a form of government. - Wikipedia

Herkese iyi bir hafta sonu diliyorum.
I have a fascination with plants with large leaves. The larger the leaf the more I admire the plant. One of the largest undivided leaf exotics in the tropical plant world is the Alocasia odora from South East Asia sometimes called giant upright elephant ear. This tropical plant reaches an impressive 3.6 meter. With stiff leaves that resemble something from a movie about King Tut or Cleopatra with the leaf blade being used as a fan, the leaf approaches 1.2 meter in length. The fruits have a vivid color. The orange Colocasia fruits are eaten by birds which distribute the seeds. Its stems are used as a green vegetable in the cuisines of Southeast Asia, and often used to flavor soups. It is used in local medicine as a very powerful herb for asthma and lung cancer. The treelike stem is cut into a slice per day which is cooked together with a piece of fat pork to a soup. This soup needs to be taken 3 times a day.
Photo of the Alocasia fruit taken nearby Kuang Si Waterfall not far from Luang Brabang - Laos.
The sun finally decided to show up after almost 3 weeks. I went to Kirkland waterfront hoping to get some beautiful sunset. It was hazy and cloudless, all the boats were parked away for the winter-- not exactly what I had in mind. In a distance, you can see the Seattle downtown skyline. They should build some crazy tall skyscrapers, photographers will definitely benefit. :)
This shot was taken 40 minutes after sunset.

I want to do more seascape photography. There is something about moving water that sucks me in. I want to thank Mr. Patrick Smith for his photostream which inspired me. He has some of the best seascape images I have ever seen, and definitely is one of the top notch photographers here on Flickr. He generously puts up detailed descriptions of where, when, and how he took each of his photos. It's a learning experience viewing all his amazing work, as well as great motivation.

I always enjoy trying to catch the light trails from the London buses at night...this one is in St Pauls, London.
St Paul's Cathedral is the Anglican cathedral on Ludgate Hill, in the City of London, and the seat of the Bishop of London. The present building dates from the 17th century and is generally reckoned to be London's fifth St Paul's Cathedral, although the number is higher if every major medieval reconstruction is counted as a new cathedral. The cathedral sits on the edge of London's oldest region, the City, which originated as a Roman trading post along the edge of the River Thames. The cathedral is one of London's most visited sites.
The nearest London Underground station is St. Paul's.

One of the best sunsets I've seen around here for a while!
It's hard to tell in this small size that the dark "cloud" over the horizon is actually a fog bank or more accurately a marine layer hovering over the water. I wish I could have gotten closer to water here but all access points are on private property and these locals (mostly fishermen) have shotguns! :-)
