- Happy Women's Day, darling!

Napping in the park with her favorite human

This is Scarborough Train Station.

Taken in Scarborough, Yorkshire.

Jesse: "You okay?"

Nate: "Yeah, it's just so irritating how he acts. Grandpa died, and he doesn't seem to care. He doesn't seem to grieve."

Jesse: "Neither do you anymore."

Nate: "Oh, I do. I just turn my grief into anger, and I use that anger to kick the butts of our opponents."

Jesse: "How have those superpowers been?"

Nate: "I'm getting the hang of it. Plus the suit helps."

Jesse: "Told you."

Jesse's comlink starts beeping and she activates it.

Jesse: "There's a break-in into the S.T.A.R. Labs facility in Central City. Oh God... They are coming for dad!"

Nate: "Since the JSA isn't here anymore, they're going after their loved ones to draw them out."

Jesse: "I have to go there."

Nate: "You won't make it in time."

Jesse: "Damn it! Who of the All Stars is closest by?"

Nate: "Jack."

Jesse: "I'm getting over there. You get back to your father and make sure every loved one has A.R.G.U.S. protection. Joan, Inza, even Doctor Mid-Nite's owl."

Nate: "Will do."

As Jesse speeds away, Nate contacts Jack as he is almost literally standing next to the building.

Nate: "Citizen Steel to Star-Sprangled Kid, do you copy?"

Jack: "For Christ sakes, Nate. This a secure line, knock it off. What's up?"

Nate: "There's been a break-in at S.T.A.R. Labs. Jesse and I believe doctor Wells is in danger. She's on route as we speak, but I need you to check it out."

Jack: "Will do. Jack out."

Jack enters the building. It's almost completely dark, so he shines his cosmic staff in the air. As he walks through the hallway, he hears a small explosion. He starts to hover and flies towards the noices. He enters the cortex, and he sees Harry Wells firing an energy gun towards Shadow Thief who keeps dodging them. As Jack enters he just boosts the brightness of the room and scares Shadow Thief away without any big trouble. As Shadow Thief leaves, the lights come back on and Harry puts down his weapon.

HW: "Star-Sprangled Kid. Thank you for the save."

Jack: "The pleasure is all-"

HW: "Did my daughter send you?"

Jack: "Yeah, she's current-"

HW: "Okaythanksbye."

Jack just stands there with a look of disbelief on his face. Harry turns towards him and starts to repeat what he said.

HW: "Ooooookaaaaaay........Thaaaaaaanks........Byeeeee."

At that point Jesse comes speeding in and gives her father a slap in the face.

HW: "Ouch! Totally deserved that..."

Harry ignores his worried daughter coming in and turns to his computer.

Jesse: "Jeez dad. I'm glad you're fine. And way to thank Jack over here for saving your ass."

HW: "Yeah, yeah. Listen kids, I'm sorry, but I have work to do. I almost found Zahl's location."

Jesse: "Wait, what? How did you-?"

HW: "Your mother told me."

Jesse: "Oh. Nonetheless, how did you determine his location?"

HW: "Well, we know he's working with a speedster. If we track any signatures on common places, we can find out where he is."

Jesse: "Dad! That's great!"

HW: "Let's see. It looks like he's at a warehouse near the docks. See these lines overlapping each other at that point? That's where he must be."

Jesse: "I'll call Sand and the rest. They'll take out Zahl and the speedster. Jack and I will stay here until A.R.G.U.S. arrives."

HW: "I can handle myself."

Jack: "Yeah, right."

Harry glares at Jack who in turn looks very uncomfortable.

Jack: "Sorry..."

Same try done with my previous pic’ (Ant’walk). The ring flash is "writing" a kind of 8 (like the number of a runner of a marathon).

Don’t hesitate to zoom on this fly’s eyes. I was impressed of all the captured details (it’s a single capture photography).

It's almost low tide on a sunny October morning and you can see part of two of the gates of the Thames Barrier. To the left, 8 is in the closed position and to the right of the gate mechanical and hydraulic mechanisms, 7 is open.

The Thames Barrier spans 520m across the River Thames near Woolwich, and it protects 125 square kilometres of central London from flooding caused by tidal surges. It has 10 steel gates that can be raised into position across the River Thames. When raised, the main gates stand as high as a five-storey building and as wide as the opening of Tower Bridge. Each main gate weighs 3,300 tonnes.

The whole barrier is closed under storm surge conditions to protect London from flooding from the sea. It may also be closed during periods of high flow over Teddington Weir to reduce the risk of river flooding in some areas of west London including Richmond and Twickenham.

In such cases the Thames Barrier will then remain closed over high water until the water level downstream of the Thames Barrier has reduced to the same level as upstream. This is a managed process to provide for different circumstances, and takes about five hours. The barrier is then opened, allowing the water upstream to flow out to sea with the outward-bound tide.

The Environment Agency has closed the Thames Barrier 193 times since it became operational in 1982 (as of June 2020). Of these closures, 106 were to protect against tidal flooding and 87 were to alleviate tidal/fluvial (river) flooding. The frequency of closures has increased over recent decades:

In the 1980s there were four closures

In the 1990s there were 35 closures

In the 2000s there were 75 closures

In the 2010s there were 79 closures

In the 2020s there have been none so far (as of June 2020)

The barrier is currently expected to be in service until at least 2030, and possibly as far into the future as 2070, although scientists and academics are already suggesting that a replacement needs construction now.

Part of the new financial developments on the Isle of Dogs can be seen in the background.
