Wish I had more time this week - this is the only shot I managed of my eyes. The snow is never ending, and almost every early run leaves me with frosty lashes and hair. I've been running with a face mask on...the looks I get from passing cars are kinda funny. Some people are shocked, some laugh, and when I'm running toward a car in a crosswalk, some passengers look downright scared (well only a little - I'm not very imposing). I used to pull down my mask to smile and show I'm not a total nutjob, but this past week I resisted the urge, and instead tried to smile at them with my eyes. I still got the stares ;)

Week 8 in 52 Weeks for Dogs

Taivas is well used to my whims for her photo each week but she did find this one tried her patience. She adopted the 'if I don't look at them I won't eat them' attitude. Even so, I had to replace a cookie during the photo shoot when temptation got the better of her.

2007 Thomas C2: Finally rolling in quite late at the last #8 position and acting as the 2nd outlier is the oldest bus in todays trip lineup. Trusted and tried 53 which is also the only bus with no AC. Not too much of an issue though, perfect temperatures today.

In the train back home, I spotted an incredibly tall young man with a very cool hairstyle, so I planned to ask him for a photo if we got off at the same station.

Luckily, that's exactly what happened. After I told him about my project, he agreed with a smile and said he was very flattered. So we went down into the tunnel under the railway and talked a bit.

Josué lives in Guyancourt near Versailles, he is 19 years old and is a basketball player, which did not come as a surprise considering his impressive height. That evening, he had to play a match in Marly-le-Roi and was 2 hours early, so we had plenty of time to take pictures.

I asked him to stand at the entrance to the tunnel and fired off a few frames. The first pics were good, but there was a distracting ticket machine on the right, so I asked Josué to take a few steps back into the tunnel.

He crossed his arms, looked at me without smiling and I took a few more pictures. This second series was the right one.

Hope you like your portrait, Josué. You did a great job and personally, I think you look great ! Thanks for participating in my project and don't forget to contact me if you want the original files. By the way, I hope you won your match ?

Wynne’s Infallible Exposure Meter, first made in the 1890s. It's the size of a small antique pocket watch.

By timing how long it takes for a paper disk in the meter to change colour when exposed to the light, you can estimate the exposure time you need for your camera, based on your chosen f stop. How technology has changed since then!

Here's more information on the meter and how it works, if you’re interested.

This abandoned farmhouse is known as the ‘Midnight Oil House’. Apparently, this cottage has become one of Australia’s most photographed ruins after featuring on the cover of the music album 'Diesel and Dust' (1987) by Australian rock band Midnight Oil.

First tests with the Samyang 85mm F1.8 manual.

Closed a bit to F4 I think, on a cloudy day, hand held.
