week 24: Discover your Camera or Lens (try a new function)
I have tried everything with my lenses , the only lens that I never tried with Studio lights is Lens baby .
I have to say it wasn't that easy, to get the right exposure and manually focus also to make sure blur is in the right place .
Catch up part 3:
Week 32/52: Using only natural elements to frame the subject, in this case, framing the forest with the heather.
story of this portrait is - what am I going to do for this weeks theme(s)??
Portrait: Self Portrait - Start things off right with a "selfie"! Explore the self timer setting on your camera.

Story: Rule of Thirds - The rule of thirds is the first compositional rule most photographers learn; but most don't know why they learn it. The rule of thirds is amazing for telling a story. Tell a story using rule of thirds.

11:52 Shadows – The opposite of light is dark, the absence of light is shadow. Interpret this however you like.
I’ve found a 52 Week challenge from an article....that I may, or may not, complete. I’m not very good at following a set of rules, I tend to loose interest. It will be a miracle if I manage to do it, lol. I’m not submitting it to any group, just doing it for myself.
Anyway.....Week 1: Self Portrait - Take a photo that tells us who you are, without actually showing your face.

This week I could not get out at all and today was the only day to get a shot for this weeks challenge. The weather looked quite promising in the morning but by mid afternoon the weather changed. It didn't stop Des & I heading to Connemara. After nearly 2 hours of driving the weather was getting worse and we decided to go to Tourmakeady woods in co. Mayo. The trees provided some cover from the rain and I managed to get a few shots of Tourmakeady waterfall.

4/29/2016 - 5/5/2016
The artistic inspiration this week is texture.
For this weeks challenge I really wanted to do something different.
For some time I wanted to try to take a picture with a scanner.
After week of collecting some shells with the kids I pulled out my good old cannon scanner that I haven't used in 10 years.
It took some time to make the damn thing working on windows 10.
It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Any dust on the glass would show up in the picture and I ended up cleaning it after every attempt. Also because of the size of the shells, it gets so much light leak .
After many hours of experimenting I got this shot.

Just back from the most amazing vacation in British Columbia with 10 fabulous Flickr friends and tomorrow I head off again for a work trip. I'll catch up with you all very soon!
21/52: Hands – usually the face is the strongest element in the frame, with the hands being the second. Make the hands the most important element in your image.
For the Through The Lens week 5 theme of "The Elements" I shot these raindrops in our back garden with the Lensbaby Sweet 80.
47/52: The 52 week challenge - Try to capture an unposed picture that contains the elements of a story, a strong sense of geometry and evokes an emotion in the viewer
I hate posting out of sequence but I am so behind with the challenge that I feel I will never catch up if I don't.
When I saw this scene, on a recent visit to London, I thought it would fit the bill. Not exactly a feel good photo and not my usual style but I guess that is what a challenge is all about.
Shot with Canon EOS 5D Mark II + Canon 50mm f/1.8 II
This is the resulting image for the fifth week of my 52 week project, which I challenged myself to complete this year.
I guess I cheated. I did not shoot this image over the course of this week and not for this topic. I actually created the concept last week for the "out of focus" challenge and then decided to use a different image in the end. However, I feel this is a great fit for "Mirrored Image" and since I shot it for the "52 week challenge" I can live with cheating like this.
Also, my creative spirits weren't too great this week either, therefore cheating is also kind of necessary.
Here you can see the previous results of my 52 week challenge.
