LMS class 5 no. 5000 is seen climbing near Speeton, between Scarborough and Bridlington on 2 April 1983, with a charter which had originated in Leeds. The locomotive is now in the NRM at York.
During a visit to one of the Seven Valley Railway galas in 1990 Black Five 5000 is seen in store at Highley. Going back to 1990 when a locomotive (even one in the care of the National Rail Collection) was out of service it would often be stored outside due to lack of available cover. Thankfully times are changing a little and 5000 now finds itself at Shildon.
