La foto del "mixto" Arco-Ealos que habeis perseguido por media España ha sido brutal. Pero este tipo de traslados siempre fueron la tónica en Renfe, de tal modo que así se evitaban circulaciones.
Estaba yo recién llegado a Sagunto cuando el cascabeleo típico de las Francesas me hizo girarme y, sin tiempo a cruzar para eludir la contraluz, me encontré con esto: Un tren de ácido sulfúrico con sus Jotas aislantes en ambos extremos, y un confortable BB1-5000 en cabeza dándose un paseíto en su compañía. Obviamente iba vacío, pues no creo que nadie aceptara viajar en semejante compañía......
Como datos curiosos, la locomotora rueda sobre la histórica aguja que unía las líneas de Norte y del CdeA. Y el andén en el que estoy ha visto con los años reducirse su ancho, primero tal como vemos en la foto tras el cierre de Sagunto-Anfiteatro, y hoy día con la Velocidad Alta ha quedado al estilo del intermedio de Chapela, pues la vía desviada pasa justo por donde tengo los pies.....
En aquella época hacía justo dos años que había dejado de circular el último Mixto oficial en Renfe: El Cáceres-Valencia de Alcántara, que no figuraba en los horarios de las guías. Por si acaso.....[276-085, Sagunto, 20-6-1986]

No he faltado a mi promesa de los trenes del mes: Esta bajada en Sagunto fue para cazar, entre otros, al primigenio Torre del Oro, 100% azul y amarillo......

The lobby of the Hotel Pennsylvania across from Pennsylvania Station in New York looks more like the Port Authority bus terminal than the grand hotel it once was. Years of ill-advised modernization projects have taken their toll on the building and it is now in peril. Only the current strength of the hotel market in New York may save the hotel from the rapacious greed of its owners, the Vornado Realty Trust. If they had had their way, the building would have already been flattened for a gobsmacker of an office tower and retail complex said to include Macy's. There is still a possibility that this may happen, but Penn Station and Madison Square Garden may instead be given the wrecking ball. For all its sorry state these days, the bones of the old Hotel Pennsylvania are strong and the hotel could easily be renovated. It is worth noting that the building was designed by the firm of McKim, Mead and White. Casually destroying it would be imprudent. New York deserves more than to have another landmark destroyed for a pile of tinsel. The latest from Vornado is that they are considering renovating the hotel. The hotel is also known for its famous telephone number, Pennsylvania 6-5000, immortalized in the big band tune written by Jerry Gray and performed by Glenn Miller and his orchestra, the Andrews Sisters and many others.

More retro-futuristic hover insanity. Hinged rear quarters reveal detail underneath on each side. I thought that the hover mechanism up front looked like some kind of weird Tesla coils, hence the ad-copy description. Lots of fun building this one, I hope you all enjoy it!
