Global 5000 on the takeoff roll.

5000 Meters Altitude

Just got back to Australia from 3 weeks travel around China and the remote Sichuan province. The Sichuan province has to have some of the most amazing pristine landscapes I have ever seen . The dramatically change from Kilometre high snow mountains , rolling hills and plans to vast lakes and rives . With so much to photography we were really pressed for time to capture it . Our Tibetan driver however really made the most of it taking us to remote locations on along small gravel roads along cliff edges .Have over 15000 photos to go through from the trip .

This panorama was taken from about 5000 meters altitude of Yading Nature Reserve from the Phantom 3 pro . We had to hike for about 10kms to an altitude of about 4700 meters to reach this spot . I then took the opportunity to take the drone up to get a panorama of the two lakes .

Yading is a national level reserve in Daocheng County, in the southwest of Sichuan Province, China. It is a mountain sanctuary and major Tibetan pilgrimage site comprising three peaks sanctified by the 5th Dalai Lama. The peaks are seen as emanations of the three boddhisatvas Chenrezig, Jampayang and Chenadorje, with Chenrezig being the highest peak at 6032 meters above sea level.

The Laser 5000 is a double-handed, dual trapeze skiff with an asymmetrical spinnaker . It derives its name from its length of 5 metres. Losing out to the Bethwaite-designed 49er for selection as an Olympic class for the 2000 Games, it was one of 11 designs that took part in the ISAF High Performance Olympic Dinghy Evaluation Event in 1996.

It was designed in the early 1990s by Phil Morrison. The design was informed by Morrison's earlier experimental Gemini design he had designed and built with Bill Twine and Nick Lightbody in Berwick, East Sussex in 1979. The class is strongest in the UK and Europe.

Like many of the successful sail lofts in the world, Hyde Sails grew from racing and in particular racing one-design dinghies. But the challenge of making sails of exactly the right shape, with top class materials and faultless craftsmanship permeates through all the sails we make from racing yacht to old gaffer.

Established over 55 years ago as Musto and Hyde, the red Flying Dutchman logo reflected Keith Musto's Olympic success in that iconic dinghy. He went on to establish his very successful clothing range while the sailmaking business spread to encompass sailmaking for all types of boat of all types and sizes. Hyde Sails have one of the biggest product ranges of any sailmaker in the world from Optimist dinghies to round the globe cruisers.

Ichiyō Higuchi (May 2, 1872 – November 23, 1896) was the pen name of Japanese author Natsu Higuchi, also known as Natsuko Higuchi. Specializing in short stories, she was one of the first important writers to appear in the Meiji period (1868–1912) and Japan′s first prominent woman writer of modern times. She wrote relatively little as a result of living a brief life—she died at 24—but her stories had a large impact on Japanese literature and she is still appreciated by the Japanese public today.

Higuchi was unique among her peers in that her writing was based on Japanese rather than Western models. Her work is highly regarded for her use of Classical Japanese language, and for that reason people are reluctant to update or translate it into contemporary Japanese, leaving it difficult for the majority of Japanese people to read.

5000 Seeds by Lorenna Grant and Alan Clark is described as ‘a geometric ideal that reflects the external nature of the Source (of life)…a veil in which to interpret the forest, manifesting an alternate window to the forest.

The view is flattened like an intrinsic mosaic of vibrating particles.’

Got that?

Bombardier car 5001- first in its series- leads a rush-hour CTA Pink Line run bound for Cicero and 54th/Cermak high over the Eisenhower Expressway and Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line. The midesection of the Sears Tower is to the left.

This location was once home to Marshfield Junction, a complex and important spot on the Metropolitan West Side Elevated, where that company's Logan Square, Garfield Park, and Douglas Park branches all converged to become a four-track line to the Loop. In the early CTA era of the 1950s, the Garfield Park elevated was demolished piecemeal and replaced by a line in the median of the Congress (now Eisenhower, I-290) Expressway, the first rapid transit line in the world to be built in such a place. Today this is the Forest Park Branch of the CTA Blue Line.

the stadium was packed and huge, yet intimate. We arrived in the stadium 5 minutes before the session started, which meant that coming in we had the impact of arriving to a full stadium of 80,000 people - a moment I won't forget.

A D90 18-200 3.5 had to suffice. I'm not sure exactly what equipment would have been truly adequate.

It is luck of the draw as to where you are sitting. Ben, Abby and Elsie were opposite a screen, sitting on a curve in section C - above this screen. We needed binoculars to see them and they were in the adjacent section! We were in section D (62 rows up - and I didn't feel any vertigo!) which gave us a reasonable view of the home straight (press side) and the medal ceremonies. Had we been on the other side (maybe section A?) the medal ceremonies would have been a real long distance affair with only the backs of the medallists visible, but we would have been able to see the long jump final at closer quarters . .

B-98888 Bombardier BD700 Global 5000. Biggin Hill 22 Feb 22

The lobby of the Hotel Pennsylvania across from Pennsylvania Station in New York looks more like the Port Authority bus terminal than the grand hotel it once was. Years of ill-advised modernization projects have taken their toll on the building and it is now in peril. Only the current strength of the hotel market in New York may save the hotel from the rapacious greed of its owners, the Vornado Realty Trust. If they had had their way, the building would have already been flattened for a gobsmacker of an office tower and retail complex said to include Macy's. There is still a possibility that this may happen, but Penn Station and Madison Square Garden may instead be given the wrecking ball. For all its sorry state these days, the bones of the old Hotel Pennsylvania are strong and the hotel could easily be renovated. It is worth noting that the building was designed by the firm of McKim, Mead and White. Casually destroying it would be imprudent. New York deserves more than to have another landmark destroyed for a pile of tinsel. The latest from Vornado is that they are considering renovating the hotel. The hotel is also known for its famous telephone number, Pennsylvania 6-5000, immortalized in the big band tune written by Jerry Gray and performed by Glenn Miller and his orchestra, the Andrews Sisters and many others.
