An eastbound Intermodal is taking the south track through Monte Creek with assistance from KCS 5000.
The first tram of the series, built in 1988, in service on line 13. It's exiting the Vittorio Emanuele I bridge, entering Piazza Vittorio Veneto and heading towards Piazza Campanella.

5000 Launceston Castle is newly overhauled with a new boiler at Swindon Works and is ready to return to main line work again. The locomotive went new to Old Oak Common entering service 28/08/1926 but in Peter's picture it is a Swindon based machine. It was withdrawn from Oxley in October 1964 and cut in April 1965

On a side note, read something very interesting on BBC News today:
Bombardier car 5001- first in its series- leads a rush-hour CTA Pink Line run bound for Cicero and 54th/Cermak high over the Eisenhower Expressway and Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line. The midesection of the Sears Tower is to the left.
This location was once home to Marshfield Junction, a complex and important spot on the Metropolitan West Side Elevated, where that company's Logan Square, Garfield Park, and Douglas Park branches all converged to become a four-track line to the Loop. In the early CTA era of the 1950s, the Garfield Park elevated was demolished piecemeal and replaced by a line in the median of the Congress (now Eisenhower, I-290) Expressway, the first rapid transit line in the world to be built in such a place. Today this is the Forest Park Branch of the CTA Blue Line.

the stadium was packed and huge, yet intimate. We arrived in the stadium 5 minutes before the session started, which meant that coming in we had the impact of arriving to a full stadium of 80,000 people - a moment I won't forget.
A D90 18-200 3.5 had to suffice. I'm not sure exactly what equipment would have been truly adequate.
It is luck of the draw as to where you are sitting. Ben, Abby and Elsie were opposite a screen, sitting on a curve in section C - above this screen. We needed binoculars to see them and they were in the adjacent section! We were in section D (62 rows up - and I didn't feel any vertigo!) which gave us a reasonable view of the home straight (press side) and the medal ceremonies. Had we been on the other side (maybe section A?) the medal ceremonies would have been a real long distance affair with only the backs of the medallists visible, but we would have been able to see the long jump final at closer quarters . .

Sometimes when you find a perfect but random opportunity for a picture you should go for it. Couple of days ago I was visiting a local library and noticed a beautiful environmental artwork at the hallway. Right when I walked in I knew I had to take picture of it and share it here. This a small detail of artwork crafted from 5000 used women's brassieres. It's part of the national women's breast cancer campaign called 'Kanssasi' (With you) which spreads out knowledge about women's breast cancer and also support the women who have had it by creating more positive image of their condition. I found it really beautiful way of honoring these women. It's like a sea of roses, which reminds us that every single individual is precious and a story of its own. Great work!
Now back to Zeiss. Because of my experience with these particular lenses (Touit 2.8/12 & Touit 2.8/50M) I've come to appreciate good lenses lot more than I did earlier. I used to think that there only negligible difference between different lenses (and that one could cross over these differences with post processing). Now that I've tried Zeiss lenses there is no turning back and I appreciate a lot more those 'negligible' differences: better contrast and vivid colors leading to more lifelike pictures. I know someone could argue against my findings, but it's ok since people have so different ways of shooting and different expectations. There is not just one truth, but many of them regarding the point of view. Coming from my personal point of view, I could go as far as to say that it's the quality lenses that really make the camera system to me. And to be honest, I have been quite surprised to see how great pictures even my older generation Sony Nex-5N can capture with the right lenses attached. With this experience I have definitely come to appreciate also the co-operation which Sony has with Zeiss. I know there is lot of different opinions at the internet forums, but from my point of view it means that with Sony I have access to many Zeiss level lenses which have the same colors to which I have fallen loved with using these lenses. When I bought my Sony Nex-5N about two years ago, one argument against the E-mount system was that I didn't have high quality lenses. Today it looks like the E-mount system is coming along pretty nicely with the Zeiss co-operation.
Ps. Still waiting for a small miracle regarding my last season. Fingers crossed..
