D&H 5000 leads a C-420 and C424m on a Northbound that is climbing Richmondville Hill at West Richmnodville, NY on December 29, 1981. I was fortunate to catch 2 trains with all Alco lashups on this trip to the area. This was always my go to location in the area as my friends grandfather lived just a couple miles up the road from the West Richmondville grade crossing.
For 30 Thursday we see CP 5000-942 cresting the grade out of Penn Central's Detroit River Tunnel. Originating at the C&O's Rougemere Yard in Dearborn Michigan, they will take a circuitous route eastward along PC's Canada Division Mainline out to Pelton and then north on the C&O's Canadian Subdivision No. 1 before turning eastward on the CP's Windsor Sub at Walkerville Junction. Geez, I hope I got that right. It was a long time ago.

A milestone upload for me today.
I have always wanted to see where the Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim is located in relation to the South Rim. I took this foto from the Bright Angel Trailhead on the South Rim toward the north rim. After uploading the fotos I decided to zoom in on the far rim and search for the Lodge and found it. If you can zoom on the note box you may be able to see it too.
The 1950 has subtle design differences from the 1949 model, which was a whole new car when introduced.

We're definitely not in Utah anymore, but we are in Goodland, Kansas where UTAH #5004 lays over for the weekend.
#5004 is one of six MK5000s picked up by the Utah Railway in 2001; originally built with 5,000 horsepower, the MK5000s were Morrison-Knudsen's attempt to break into the locomotive market dominated by EMD and GE. Ultimately, the engines would prove unreliable and would essentially be rebuilt into SD50-3s.
The Utah Railway kept these MK50-3s in service until 2016 when G&W lost all coal contracts in Utah. Today, they can be found hauling grain on the old route of the Rocky Mountain Rocket.
Having just met an eastbound this CP extra for Windsor, Ontario is starting to pull out of the siding at Longwood with GP30 5000 leading a pair of M630's in May of 1987.
This rock-faced, Richardsonian Romanesque church was built in 1896 for the Episcopalians. In 1907, it was purchased by a Roman Catholic congregation and became Holy Rosary. The gilded statue of the Virgin Mary atop the church's prominent square tower, was added after the church became Holy Rosary.
The church is another effort of the prominent architectural firm Malcomson and Higginbotham.
