D&H 5000 leads a C-420 and C424m on a Northbound that is climbing Richmondville Hill at West Richmnodville, NY on December 29, 1981. I was fortunate to catch 2 trains with all Alco lashups on this trip to the area. This was always my go to location in the area as my friends grandfather lived just a couple miles up the road from the West Richmondville grade crossing.

Aurizon's 5044, ACB4404 & 6029 lead loaded coal NB918 through Pothana Lane, Belford. Loading occurred at Whitehaven's Narrabri Underground Mine as it goes to unload at PWCS Kooragang.
The lash up consisted of three of the main loco types used by Aurizon; UGL 5000 class (C40aci), UGL ACB class (C43aci) & UGL 6020 class (C44aci). 28/10/22
A Pink Line train with 5000-Series car no. 5027 (Bombardier, 2009-2015) in the lead is seen at Harold Washington Library-State/Van Buren station.
D&H RS-11 5000 rests at the service area in Oneonta, NY on July 16, 1978. I always thought the high hood RS-11's looked really sharp in the lightning stripe scheme.
A bit of a Flickr milestone today with this my 5000th Flickr upload – a rough average of 450 uploads a year since I joined back in 2010.
Views of my images and albums over that same period have totalled an amazing 16 million, although the value of that stat is pretty flimsy with Fiickr seemingly changing the algorithm as to what constitutes a ‘view’ more than once over the years.
I have had the odd hiatus away from Flickr, but I am still here and continue to get immense enjoyment from sharing my pics, and the contact and correspondence with like minded photographers and rail enthusiasts. Apart from numerous friends who also post on Flickr, I have also made quite a few new friends through the medium, some of whom I’ve gone on to meet up with trackside - you all know who you are.
Not sure if I’m good enough for another 5,000, but I reckon there’s still another 2-3,000 worthy of scanning and uploading, plus of course I’m still out there taking more shots to add to the collection.
And last, but not least, in this image we see Pacific National EMDs 9002/9019/9023 with empty coal train MR977 to Moolarben mine, threading the Goulburn River valley between Sandy Hollow and Baerami crossing loops, New South Wales, on 27 April 2019. Note the vineyard in the right background.

Mjóifjörður means "Narrow Fjord", and it is indeed narrow, while 18 km long. Today it is one of the most isolated and least populated place in Iceland, with some 10 year-round inhabitants in the village of Brekka. It has a feel of an isolated world, as the only road to there is usually closed in winter, and goes through patches of snow even in summer. Lovers of tranquility will not be let down by Mjóifjörður, which has a hostel with a café. A little over 100 years ago, however, it hosted the busiest whaling operation in the world at the time, in two Norwegian-run whaling stations. Altogether some 5000+ whales were processed there in 12 years.
