Since childhood I've been exposed to the image of Jesus Christ. Usually bloody, and nailed to a cross. I was told that we is the savior of mankind. I was also told he was the son of God, God himself, and many other conflicting things, including that he does not, and did not, exsist at all.
I have had a long and very serious relationship with this man. I have thought of him often for year upon year. Yet still, I don't know what he is, or if he is anything.
I have spent hours speaking with him, though even as I spoke, I did not know if I was talking to him or to myself. I have an idea that he did exist, yet also ideas that he was created by men to control man.
I think it is good what he, among others, represent, (usually). Something should stand for what we have come to believe is good and noble in us. I think that this is useful.
However, It seems to me that science disputes him. That even common sense dictates that the existence of he as a God is foolishness.
And yet, there is a burning desire in me that wants these "fairy tales" about goodness, and righteousness, and a everlasting soul living beyond this world to be true.
What a shame if all there is to us is this short and mostly superficial life of ours. What a disappointment.
In my home, and in my studio, I have many images of the Christ. Also, Buddha, and other persons said to be inspired from things beyond this short life span.
Even my own father, long dead, I relate to as if he were still alive. I carry on conversations with all of these people. Some would think me mad. And in a way, I must agree. Is it madness to believe in something that is logically and scientifically disputed? Is it mad to believe in magic and miracles? Is it crazy to think that there is anything more to us than this struggle we call our "life"?
If I were to live 1000 years I doubt I could be certain of the most simple question of anything pertaining to life beyond death. Jesus Christ is the symbol that represents all these questions to me.
** I used a picture from an old painting as my reference model. I found it through a google image search. I have no idea who the original artist was. I bought the Frozen Castle in a local Disney Store on its release day, October 28, 2013. It is very impressive looking, half opened in its large carrying case. It has three stories, nine rooms, five sets of hinged doors, seven pieces of furniture, and five of character figures. The four humans all have movable arms and legs, and can free stand. Anna and Elsa even have cloth skirts. The castle opens up to be 24'' W x 21'' H x 7'' D, when fully closed it is only 12'' (if the side supports are taken off). It took over an hour to fully debox the castle, but it was lots of fun doing so, and enabled me to learn all the moving parts of the castle. The castle itself is very well built, and very sturdy. But in deboxing it, the original box is partially disassembled, so it may take a bit of effort to put it back in a state where it can be a carrying case for the castle again. Overall, I think it is worth its hefty retail price of $100.

"Stirling Castle, located in Stirling, is one of the largest and most important castles in Scotland, both historically and architecturally. The castle sits atop Castle Hill, an intrusive crag, which forms part of the Stirling Sill geological formation. It is surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs, giving it a strong defensive position. Its strategic location, guarding what was, until the 1890s, the farthest downstream crossing of the River Forth, has made it an important fortification in the region from the earliest times.
Most of the principal buildings of the castle date from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. A few structures remain from the fourteenth century, while the outer defenses fronting the town date from the early eighteenth century.
Before the union with England, Stirling Castle was also one of the most used of the many Scottish royal residences, very much a palace as well as a fortress. Several Scottish Kings and Queens have been crowned at Stirling, including Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1542, and others were born or died there.
There have been at least eight sieges of Stirling Castle, including several during the Wars of Scottish Independence, with the last being in 1746, when Bonnie Prince Charlie unsuccessfully tried to take the castle."

I took off the afternoon for a few reasons. My range pass expires until I take the RSO course so this was one of the last days I could go and not expect a lot of people there, as well as it is my birthday. So I'm going bowling tonight, doing something out of the ordinary that I haven't done for a birthday in Mt. Airy since I was a kid and doing some D&B action tomorrow to celebrate with my buddy Clint.
The range was completely empty, no one had been in a couple days, it was quite peaceful. I laid fresh tracks. Froze my ass off, and nailed some nice groupings.

I met Tatsuru while roaming Sasebo just prior to our ship's departure. It was during this time that I really noticed how charming Sasebo could be. In the week leading up to DENVER's final farewell the weather was gorgeous and everyone seemed happy. The spirit of summer had taken its hold.
And along comes Tatsuru. This kid is talented. He was playing a game of HORSE with a buddy...on his skateboard. I asked if I could get a few actions shots and he said it was fine. I might've made him nervous. His next heelflip put him on the ground. :-P
No Skateboard. No Life.
