Entrance to Berlin's Olympic Stadium (1936). From Wikipedia: Architect "Werner March built the new Olympiastadion [from 1934-36] on the foundation of the original Deutsches Stadion, once again with the lower half of the structure buried 12 meters underground. The capacity of the Olympiastadion reached 110,000 spectators. It also possessed a special stand for Adolf Hitler and his political associates. At its end, aligned with the symmetrically-designed layout of the buildings of the Olympischer Platz and toward the Maifeld, was the Marathon Gate with a big receptacle for the Olympic Flame." And the nazi swastika adorned the top of the columns, where the clock is now. Today the sadium is the home of football team Hertha BSC. The 2006 World Cup final between Italy and France was also played here.
Perhaps the 'hang dog' look is because he only got 3rd prize!!

The 3rd down jumping is a tradition in the MUSS (Mighty Utah Student Section) of jumping and screaming as loud as you can when the defense is trying to stop a 3rd down conversion by the other team. It proved to be very successful many times in this 2008 season with apposing teams getting tons of false starts on the 3rd down and helping the Utes become the only undefeated team in the nation for the season!!

So I was pretty convinced that my camera was broken and wouldn't recognize my fisheye lens. (It would read all my nikon lenses. No off brands though.) Thinking that I was doomed I figured that I would try to take it in to see what was wrong. At the repair shop the guy looked at it and within a matter of seconds had it back up and running. It turns out a spring had corroded away inside and wouldn't attach to the lenses it required.
Feeling pretty happy about having my lens back up and running I decided to swing by the 3rd Lair Skate Park on my way home. Luckily there were some guys there willing to skate as I took photos. It has been a while since I have shot skating and it was quite refreshing. I am definitely going to have to do that more often.
In this particular shot I couldn't view the eye piece due to the close proximity of the wall to the edge of the bowl. I decided to drop my shutter a bit and let it drag proving some motion. I had to hand hold it pretty low and swing with the skater as he aired out. I wish I would have gotten a little more of the coping below but other than that I am pretty pleased with the results.

Fritz, Elias, Chris, Rob over President's Day weekend, Denver, playing with a room full of Heidelbergs. Elias prints letterpress in New Bedford in a converted mill building, Chris has a day job with IBM but has a Heidelberg in his garage, and Rob is the wheeler/dealer in letterpress equipment in Denver, and also has an incredible shop. I came back from this with a new respect for my Heidelberg and have tested a few things I picked up working with these fellows.
A wonderful, impromptu day at the coast with my two today. We drove down to Portsmouth and parked up at Southsea, where we watched the ferries and the hovercraft come in (which A was hugely impressed with!), ate ice cream (him not me) and generally had a lovely time. It was great. :)

THINE IS THE KINGDOM, THE POWER-CHORD + THE GLORY.
Join us in celebrating three years of music, mayhem and glorious exhibitionism, through the medium of Rock + Roll Karaoke. With very special guest co-host Monsignor Clint Velour from the Church of the Holy Camembert.
Clint Velour, along with his backing band the Camembert Quartet, are the much loveD house band for the Ryan Tubridy Show. When not polluting the airwaves with his bizzare cover versions or playing the most lavish private parties in the land, Clint loves nothing better than to pop into Songs of Praise and howl along to "Highway to Hell". So what better man to send us screaming into our 4th year.
It has been a remarkable three years not only have we a loyal congregation of lovable oddballs, who stuff the Village every Sunday night, we've had the likes of The Killers, Kiefer Suderland and Toni Bennett join in the fun. Our stage has played host a long list of indie notables New Young Pony clubs stage invasion and Mic Pyros regular expletive peppered re-workings of rock classics stick out in our minds. Or how about Mr Patrick Bergen singing ‘Paint it black’, well that was just plain odd, but fabulous.
Over the years we have expanded our karaoke song list [Which is now available to down load from www.therescuesquad.com/songsofpraise/PraiseMe.pdf ]from from classic rock to punk, nu wave and what ever current indie acts we deem rock'n enough to stand along side AC/DC and The Sex Pistols.
All this with your regular host Sister Barbara and songs of faith + devotion from Rory Montane.
