I used Adobe Lightroom to enhance this photo so you could see a closer version of what I actually saw while looking for the Orionid meteors. My camera does a very good job, but it needs help making some things look the way they looked through my eyes, especially at night. You can see part of the Milky Way extending from the upper-left of the image to the center. Jupiter makes an appearance at the bottom, and the Pleiades cluster is a little above it to the right.

day 79/366 : funny

day 19 : funny face

This is one funny girl!

day 49/366 : drink

I wish I could say this was some super-yummy new drink. Nope, just "Very Berry" Airborne. Actually tastes pretty good. Can't wait for this chest cold to be done!

The sun went down at around 5:30 and this was taken about 40 minutes after that. The sky sill had a nice glow, but the stars were starting to emerge. This was only a 15-second exposure, but I set the ISO to 3200 so I could get those upper stars to show.

The location is the Deerlick Astronomy Village, which is about 100 miles east of Atlanta. You can see that a could of other stargazers were already there, and several others arrived not long after this shot. You can see a warm-up shed, a pavilion, and restrooms on the left side. Also, there are electrical hookups on that fence you see in the foreground, and the beam WiFi across the field from the shed. It's a great place to view the stars with mostly dark skies and a nice low horizon. Anyone can purchase a field membership (which is what I did) for $35 for an individual or $50 for a family. It's a great deal if you want to do some serious stargazing.

When I was a kid, I was scared of everything—this included the non-existent bright, red eyes.

It was nice and rainy while shooting this one, which made it all the more creepy. The red eyes are in camera, not photoshopped.

I've been neglecting my Canon 5D Mark 2 for a while now, I recently purchased a Fotodix Pro EF to FX adapter. We'll see how I like it in the next week, as it wasn't cheap.

Another rainy day but hey, I now have my two favourite models home for the holidays (sorry kids!).

Here's Imogen playing her NEW cello - yes, we went for it! I'm sure it will have more of a starring role soon if this weather doesn't perk up!

12/366. Next door to the Arkansas Work Force

I love shooting the moon just about anytime, but I really love how it looks in a clear blue sky. I only used a 200mm zoom here, but I managed to get that large crater on the left side.

Don't take it to serious!I sure know this is unesthetic. But therefore my question:

What is esthetic? And what does esthetic means?

Esthetic as a philosophical theory as to what is beautiful.

A banal day to day life photo can be esthetic! But this one is not. This is the most common / banal stuff my dog does!

For me this is unesthetic for sure. Got that! But still trying to find what is esthetic to me and above all what is esthetic to everyone! Lets see your reactions! Let them please come!

I love shooting the sun during the daytime. It's great having a solar filter so I can see our closest star.

366 Project 2012 --- 4/366 --- January 4.

After several months, I'm almost done scanning and digitally restoring images from some old film negatives brought back from a trip to India in 1999-2000. To see the results, check out my India 1999-2000 set here.

I donated my time to photograph the 2012 Canstruction even in Atlanta. Canstruction is a nonprofit organization that holds annual design and build competitions to construct fantastic, giant sized, structures made entirely out of canned food. In each city after the structures are built and the winners declared the creations go on view to the general public as giant art exhibits. At the close of the competitions all of the food used in the structures is donated to the local food banks for distribution to community emergency feeding programs. See canstruction.org for more information.

Nice to get a few sunspots in there as well.

Even grass has cobwebs!

not a lot of opportunity for photography.

A new house means a new garden, which means new flowers to take pictures of! There are a few patches of daisies in the backyard, I love them.

I don't think he is really standing guard, he's just having a rest
