Most every morning I am out of the house early to fetch ice for my cup to keep my spring water cold all day. This morning I noticed that the moon was shining brightly and lighting the broken clouds in some interesting shapes and patterns. I had my phone with me and decided to swing down to the lake shore to try and capture some pictures of it. Sadly, my phone doesn't take great pictures in the dark. It is better than my camera during the day, but in the dark, not so much. But my camera I did not have... I did get a passable picture of the power plant all lit up and creating a long trail of steam in the 0 degree (-18 C) weather.
While the picture taking didn't fully work out like I hoped, I was encouraged by the fact that while I was out I noticed that the sky was just beginning to grow lighter to the east. It has been a few months since I've had a hint of dawn while out so early. The days are getting longer and I'm all for it!
It was freezing cold and windy while shooting this one on top of accidentally breathing in the smoke balls.
The previous day was gorgeously sunny (see 76/365) and today it's pouring. Classic spring in Portland.
Yappy is traveling today. He thought he was alone and happy, but he didn't know what's gonna happen to him...

special thanks to my underwater camera for dying (like, for good) after the first 7 photos I took (2 of which were test shots of the empty pool) and forcing me to use photoshop to make my half hour venture in this freezing cold pool worthwhile

Plan A was productivity of all sorts. Plan B is meds and naps and Netflix and coloring drawings of cats.
That's the last of my 365 project, it was a challenge to remember every day for a year. Some days it was more than hard to come up with an idea, but I'm happy i did it. Think it helped my photography quite a bit, there were some rubbish photos and some that pleased me.
Note: for copyright purposes, this is a low-resolution image.
And indeed it was. Mt St. Helens basking in early February sunshine.
This was taken from the Sauvie Island bridge, about 15 miles west of Portland, Oregon.
On the trip I was reading the latest wired mag (maybe best publication out there right now). There was a short writeup on a camera toss contest so I thought I would give it a try. You need surprisingly little velocity to get some great trails, this was about a 6 inch toss and spin in front of the xmas tree. Should have gotten a video of me spinning the d3... 350 ... wonder what it will be like in 16 days??
