Spotted @ local thrift.
She matchs a doll I received on my birthday ~1971, except she has a purple kimono (mine is orange), but the same pattern. Priced at $4.94 - reluctantly passed on buying since I have run out of room in my doll case.
Day 51/365
Took this on my way to work -- the fog was so thick you could almost feel it as you walked through. Luckily it was a holiday, so the roads were not a complete disaster. #365project #columbus
Day 119 of 365.
"Won't you take me to Funkytown?"
Tonight, I stumbled on a street concert (right in front of Aburaya) put on by a band made of 13-year olds. They were covering 80's hits like "Enola Gay" and "Funkytown" and they were good.
The beer-drinking werewolf in the audience was definitely a fan.

My wife and I are shopping all day for Christmas presents, and using up a nice present from her parents - a gift card for lunch. It's been a long time since we were able to spend the day with just each other, and it's so, so nice to reconnect. These are the flags on the wall of the restaurant we sat in, enjoying each other's company.
I understand these things will actually shave whiskers... but I have little experience these days ;-) The joys of working at home... 266. As a note I am sure I have seen a similar shot before and it stuck in my head, I will do some research later and post a link it I can find the image that my snapshot tries to replicate. Thx bg

É MUITA JAPONESISSE PARA UMA MESTIÇA SÓ, BRASIL!
SOCORO. NUM GOSTO! D:
Fudge! Each year for the Christmas carry-in at work, I bring homemade fudge. This year, I won't be able to eat any of it because it's definitely not corn, gluten, or dairy free, but oh well! It will still be tasty for others (and I am bringing some fruit for me). The recipe I use is probably the easiest fudge EVER to make. You can find the recipe on my blog. Enjoy!
This week the theme for my 365project is "still life." I submitted this photo for today:
This is a still life watercolor that my dad painted back in 1984. When anyone mentions "still life", this is the image that comes into my mind's eye. It's been hanging on some wall in every house I've lived in for the past 26 years and is now faded with age (thank you, Photoshop for letting me bring some color back to it!).
My dad was a banknote engraver at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, a profession which required a high degree of exactitude. Those of you with a bit of age on you have seen his work on currency and postage stamps in the United States. However, being exact by profession worked against him in his leisure time passion for painting. He was so highly trained to be specific that he had difficulty creating artistic interpretation. You can bet that every fold in the backdrop in this painting really was there, as portrayed!
He died 7 years ago this week, so this week's theme provided a perfect opportunity for me to think about him and remember what a fine person, father, husband and, yes, artist he was!
Here's a few more remembrances: www.susansharplesssmith.info/?p=503
One of the items on the scavenger hunt list was a snowman. When you live in North Carolina, and it's mid January and the trees are already budding because it's been such a warm winter, chances of getting a picture of an actual snowman are pretty slim. However, at my house, marshmallows are always in full supply. So, as I tell my girl scouts, using my resources wisely, I made this little guy. He might not be as authentic as the real thing, but he sure is tastier!
Our backyard butts up to a county road, and across the way, there is nothing more than a field and a farm house. A firefighter lives in the farm house, and he puts on a big 4th of July fireworks show. Last year, he couldn't do it because it was so dry that all fireworks were banned. So, this year, he had double to set off, and he did so tonight. We had about the best view you could possibly get from our back patio :)
P.S. our bathroom window faces the back, and yes, indeed, you could watch the show while sitting on the toilet if you wanted. :-P
