Windows for Peace - Peace Museum Vienna

Vienna (OTS) - "The project 'Fenster für den Frieden - Windows for Peace' is a joint initiative between the Peace Museum Vienna, Blutgasse 3 in the 1st district and neighboring national and international businesses and organizations," says Liska Blodgett, President of Peace Museum Vienna Association. "Our exhibition, freely accessible for everyone, will represent heroes of peace, such as Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, the Canonized Popes and of course Bertha von Suttner, Vienna's very own peace heroine. Our goal is from June 18, 2014 to present more than 150 peace heroes in the windows of Blutgasse.

As further locations are planned: Domgasse, Schulerstrasse, Grünangergasse, Franziskanerplatz, Stroblgasse and Singer Street ".

Dr. Ruiter-Birnbauer, former judge and co-founder of the Peace Museum Vienna, explaines further: "In our windows, in the heart of Vienna, we will portray the lives of people who have fought for peace. Our goal is by remembrance and explanation of the deeds of known and lesser-known peace-heroes to inspire people themselves to work for peace and tolerance. Also musicians such as Daniel Barenboim, John Lennon and Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), known by their commitment for peace are part of the project".

Anton "Toni" Faber, Cathedral Priest of St. Stephen's in Vienna and friend of Peace Museum Vienna, supports our ambitious project enthusiastically. "The year 2014 is a very special launch for the Windows for Peace project because this is all about the 100th anniversary of Bertha von Suttner".

Liska Blodgett: "We have in this respect an exclusive Bertha von Suttner exhibition to commemorate this great peace hero".

Dr. Werner Horvath, a well-known Austrian artist and political painter, provides 10 of his most exclusive pictures for the Peace Museum Vienna. These have been presented on June 18 at 18.00 in a vernissage. "The images have strong relation to current world politics, especially on the subject of 'clash of civilizations''.

Globaler Klimastreik in Berlin am 15. März 2019

#FridaysForFuture - Schulstreik

) und P.adua ( 1.3.8.3 – 1.3.8.7, 1.3.8.7 Dr. iur. can.).

The University of Central Arkansas Bears finished off their regular season on Saturday with a 28-24 win over the McNeese State University Cowboys. The Bears turned back a last-minute scoring drive to finish the year at 7-4 overall, 4-3 in Southland Conference play.

For the "In the Sack" Tien Limited promotion, Stylist Adrian, Designer Alexis and Fotog Andrea teamed up on the other side of the lens for these fun images.

Step-by-step instructions for my little alternative build for set 77941, Mighty Dinosaurs.

An unfortunate Common Fivering fell prey to a Crab Spider, beautifully camouflaged on a Spanish Needle flower... :-)

I was lucky to get this.. :-)

The Valley of the Queens holds far more than graves of queens. High officials had been buried here before the first queen. In addition, royal children were buried here next to the queens. There are 80 tombs all together, most are closed.

The tombs were built according to patterns from the Valley of the Kings, but on a smaller scale. The custom began sometime after 1300 BCE.

Most of the tombs are very simple, as well as uninscribed. The general layout is long corridor with antechambers and the burial chamber at the end.

The reason why Valley of the Queens is so high on the Luxor bill, is one grave in particular: Nefertaris, and the illustrations to the left and bottom are from this. Nefertari was Ramses 2's favourite wife, rising up to almost equal status as her husband towards his reign.

The tomb deals with two major issues, Nefertari's beauty and her religious zeal. There are no battle scenes or depictions of her good, worldly actions.

The quality of the wall paintings and the colour splendour rivals the very best found in the Valley of the Kings. But it is all extremely fragile, and 5 year long restoration work was completed in the early 1990's, where paint and stucco was re-adhered to the walls, everything without altering or adding anything.

In order to protect the tomb, only 150 visitors are allowed every day, and all must wear masks and shoe pads. Tickets are expensive, at E£100 (E£50 for students).

Other tombs to visit here are the ones of Queen Titi, and the infant princes Amun-Hir-Khopshef, Kheamweset and Seth-Hir-Khopshef. All the princes were sons of Ramses 3.

In the tomb of Amun-Hir-Khopshef are the walls full of images of Ramses 3 leading his son through the funerary rituals. The most unique part here is the mummified foetus that Amun-Hir-Khopshef's mother aborted through the grief over her son's death.

The other three tombs are inferior to the ones of Amun-Hir-Khopshef and Nefertari, but good indicators to how the majority of tombs were laid out.

Thomas Cartwright (1634-1689) was an English bishop and diarist, known as a supporter of James II.

He was born and went to school in Northampton, and studied at the University of Oxford. He was first at Magdalen Hall, and then at Queen's College where he was tutored by Thomas Tully. He was ordained by Robert Skinner[2][3]

He was vicar of Walthamstow from 1658 to 1662.[4] In 1660 he was made vicar of Barking by the Crown.[5] He became an ardent supporter of the Restoration monarchy, and was made dean of Durham in 1672.[6]

He was appointed bishop of Chester in 1686, by James II, and became a member of the King's Ecclesiatical Commission.[3] In October 1687 he was one of three Royal Commissioners, with Robert Wright and Sir Thomas Jenner, sent to Magdalen College, Oxford.[7] They removed all but three of the Fellows.

After the Glorious Revolution he followed James II into exile.[3] He died in Dublin, of dysentery, and is buried in Christ Church, Dublin.

The Westland Lynx is a British-designed multipurpose military helicopter. The design for the Lynx started in the mid-1960s as a replacement for both the Westland Scout and Wasp helicopters. The first prototype flew in 1971 and became the first fully aerobatic helicopter. A modified Lynx also set a speed record in 1986 as the world’s fastest helicopter, a record that it still holds today.

Both land and ship based versions of the Lynx went into production for the Army and Navy. The British Army Air Corps got their first Lynx in 1979 using them for utility, transport, anti-tank, search and rescue, escort, and reconnaissance missions. In 1981, the British Fleet Air Arm received their first Lynxes. The naval version incorporated many changes including wheels instead of skids, sonar, radar and different sensors for use in its anti-shipping, anti-submarine, anti-pirate, and ship replenishment missions. British Lynxes saw extensive service in several conflicts including the Falklands, Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, and the Middle East. It is a versatile airframe with over forty different variants that served with the British military and were exported to sixteen other foreign militaries around the world.

And just look who dear old daddy is! I cannot quite place him without cheating on imdb, but I know I have seen him in a bunch of stuff.

Long session today (9:30AM - 5:30PM) at my least favorite spot to flick graffiti, but one of my favorite spots for the amount of traffic this spot gets. There's also a crossing here, so lots of horn action! The engineers also know "railfans" come out here so sometimes they get a little creative with the honking.

Grand total of flicks taken, 803, total being posted, 616.

Right out of the gate I fucked up big time. First train I saw go by as I arrived was an Amtrak. Got down to the spot and immediately I hear the horns coming from behind the hill. Get the camera out, lens cap off and 30 seconds later and what do I see, autoracks, and lots of them. Sweet! I get in position, and they're coming by quick. I'm just barely framing them up and snapping the flicks. Saw my first Ichabod E2E car, Green/Black. Woah dude!! Cool. (my inner SoCal surfer came out). and then it's gone.

Sat down and looked through photos on little 3 in. screen on back of camera, not good. I zoom in, but I can't tell if photos are sharp or not. Lighting seems ok, but can't tell if sharp. Go to take a quick snap of a little tag on a fence post and camera will not focus. WTH?? Camera was switched into manual focus mode from a project I was working on days previously. ARRRGH!! So out of like 30-40 autoracks, they're all blurry.

Still posting 3 of them, just to document, but I will call them out as bad photos. I was so pissed that I almost went back to the car. Glad I didn't. Throughout the day I caught some really nice pieces from some of my favorite writers. I didn't give up, and came home with gold, as you'll see going through this latest set.

FYI I managed to catch up with some of the day's last autoracks and got shots of them in way better light. So 8-10 pieces shot today have doubles that were shot in two different locations.

Also ended up meeting up with (YouTube) Railroad Fans of the Cajon Pass. He was just down the road from where I was and came down for a bit. He even brought that vicious dog "Buddy" with him. Glad I survived the encounter.

If you want to see some of these cars rolling, here's the videos he shot while I was there. If you look close or not so close in one vid, you might see me in action down the line. Anyway......

Famille :

Liliaceae

Nom français :

Lis martagon.

Lilium martagon (Martagon or Turk's cap lily) is a species of lily. It has a widespread native region extending from eastern France east through northern Asia to Mongolia and Korea (cold Temperatures). Several subspecies have been named. Horticulturally it is in Division IX (true species). It is stem-rooting, growing between 1 metre (3 ft 3 in) and 2 metres (6 ft 7 in) tall. The flower colour is typically a pink-purple, with dark spots, but is quite variable, extending from near white to near black. The flowers are scented. Numerous flowers are borne on each plant, and up to 50 can be found on vigorous plants. The green stems can be flushed with purple or red and the leaves are elliptic to inverse lanceolate, mostly in whorls, up to 16 centimetres (6.3 in) long and often lightly hairy underneath.[1]

This plant[2] and the white form 'Album'[3] have gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

L. martagon was used in hybridising with L. hansonii at the end of the 19th century by Mrs RO Backhouse of Hereford, England.[4]

Name

The Turk's cap lily is a common name given to two separate species of lily namely Lilium martagon and Lilium hansonii. To add to the confusion the Turks cap name is also used for all hybrids and forms derived from these two species. However the Turk's cap common name is most closely associated to Lilium martagon. The species name 'martagon' is a Turkish word which means turban or cap.
