Pristine 42073 arrives , bunker first at Haverthwaite - a pretty gloomy day but this brightened thimgs up! This loco last seen here in 1973 in a spurious LNWR livery.

Upland heathland under restoration, Manor Common, Bodmin Moor, Cornwall.
The common is showing good recovery of dwarf shrubs, especially Heather (Calluna vulgaris) and Western Gorse (Ulex gallii), amongst the Purple Moor-grass (Molinia caerulea), following reduced stocking under a Countryside Stewardship agri-environment agreement. It used to look like a billiard table (I'll scan an old slide of it when I get chance)!
