Place: Guangzhou, Guangdong Province
Chinese name: 奇瑞旗云2 (qíruì qíyún 2)
Year of launch: 2011 (Cowin: 2003 / Fulwin: 1999)
Chery Automobile was the largest Chinese carmaker for quite some time, thanks to successes of the QQ, Tiggo, A5 and the old Windcloud/Flagcloud (Fulwin/Cowin) models. Chery is a state-owned company founded in 1997. It began automobile production in 1999 after acquiring toolings and a license to produce the first generation Seat Toledo. Interesting is that Chery was only granted a production license for passenger cars in 2003, which means Chery cars couldn't be legally sold until 2001. Until then Chery was officially only producing automotive components, albeit in a fully assembled form. In 2001 Chery solved the problem by piggybacking on a SAIC Motor license, China's largest state-owned car manufacturer. Chery surely knowns the way around the law... After rising tensions between Chery Automobile and General Motors (GM) and Volkswagen, two of SAIC's joint venture partners, the 20% ownership SAIC once held in Chery was sold. GM was not amused and filed lawsuits after Chery copied their Spark (Matiz) and Epica (Evanda/Magnus) models. Volkswagen also planned a lawsuit against Chery, because they apparently secretly purchased the Seat Toledo blueprints, which is quite interesting considering Seat is a subsidiary of Volkswagen...
The Fengyun or Windcloud, also known as Fulwin, was followed by the Qiyun or Flagcloud, also known as Cowin, in 2003. The Flagcloud had a unique front end and rear end. Chery had a terribly messy line-up after it launched three new sub brands in 2009, two of which completely failed: Rely, Riich (both now defunct) and Karry. One of Karry's products was the Karry Youyi, in the vein of cars like the Opel Combo Tour. The Karry Youyi was initially branded as Chery Karry before Karry became a new brand. The Karry Youyi is based on the platform of the Windcloud/Flagcloud, and also shares its interior with these models (and Seat Toledo). Chery further complicated their line-up when it launched a whole range of Cowin-badged models in 2010: the QQ6 continued as Cowin 1, the Cowin (Flagcloud) as Cowin 2, the A5 as Cowin 3 and the Eastar as Cowin 5. The Cowin 2 continued to be produced until 2016, which finally marked the end of the old Seat Toledo launched in 1991.
Today Queen Mary 2 arrived into Liverpool part of Cunard's 175th Anniversary. She will stay overnight and meet her sisters Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth in the Mersey tomorrow.
This is one from a shoot I had yesterday, really wishing I had a studio to work in lately instead of the living room..

also, listen to this. so amazing.
I'm actually so upset that I can't go see One Direction in Toronto. No one will go with me and my parents won't let me go by myself. I honestly would buy someone their ticket, thats how bad I want to go. I'm honestly thinking about buying a ticket and not telling my parents and then going, hahah sneaky. But I don't have a credit card and I don't think you can buy online with a debit card? fml.
anyways today is going to be an absolute crap day. I have to study this morning for my english test today, which I haven't studied for yet, oops. oh well it should be fairly easy. I'll probably workout after lunch and then I have to go to school. then after dinner i'll run and thats it, welcome to my exciting life.
also sorry that this is kinda lame for my second day, but it was raining today and i'm not sure the next time it will rain since its november, and i wanted to do this. ok bye.
In December 1998, Cunard released details of Project Queen Mary, the project to develop a liner that would complement Queen Elizabeth 2.
Her keel was laid down on 4 July 2002, in the construction dock at Saint-Nazaire, France, with the hull number G32. Approximately 3,000 craftsmen spent around eight million working hours on the ship, and around 20,000 people were directly or indirectly involved in her design, construction, and fitting out. In total, 300,000 pieces of steel were assembled into 94 "blocks" off the drydock, which were then stacked and welded together to complete the hull and superstructure. After floating out on 21 March 2003, the QM2 was fitted out in the large fitting out basin ("Bassin C"), the first ship to use this huge dry dock since the shipyard built large tankers in the 1970s, such as the MV Gastor. Her sea trials were conducted between 25–29 September and 7–11 November 2003, between Saint-Nazaire and the offshore islands of Ile d'Yeu and Belle-Ile.
Construction was completed on schedule. Cunard took delivery in Southampton, England on 26 December 2003. On 8 January 2004, the liner was named by her namesake's granddaughter, Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Mary 2's facilities include fifteen restaurants and bars, five swimming pools, a casino, a ballroom, a theatre, and the first planetarium at sea. There are also kennels and a nursery on board.
On 19 October 2011, Queen Mary 2 had her registry changed to Hamilton, Bermuda, from her home port of Southampton, England to allow the ship to host on-board weddings. This marked the first time in its 171-year history that Cunard has not had a ship registered within the UK.
