I was on the inside of the kennel, facing east. Perhaps a shot from the opposite side would have been better, but I did not want to open the gate and disturb the crystals. And the snow is still way too deep to walk around to the other side - at this time of the AM - forget it.

* also known as Arabian star flower or Star of Bethlehem makes a fabulous cut flower for a vase indoors.

* A tall, elegant early summer bulb bearing clusters of white starry flowers with striking black, bead-like ovaries at the centre and a delicious sweet scent. A superb specimen plant for the patio or greenhouse, this half-hardy bulb can also be plunged into summer borders and lifted for over-wintering in a frost-free position.

* Bulb size: 12/14. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 10cm (4").

Flowering period: May, June. Position: full sun

- Ornithogalum arabicum - Ster van Bethlehem

* Een ster van Bethlehem is een meerjarige kruidachtige plant met kleine ster-achtige bloemen die zes bloemblaadjes hebben. De plant is vernoemd naar de ster in het Bijbelse verhaal van Jezus' geboorte.

* Ornithogalum arabicum wordt ca. 45 cm hoog met witte of bleek crème bloemen die groeien in clusters op een dunne steel, de bloemen hebben een bijna zwart hart.

* De bloeiperiode is begin mei - juni. Deze heerlijke geurende bloem leent zich uitstekend als snijbloem.

A wave surges water through a narrow gap between 2 blocks of basalt and into the piscina natural (natural pool) called Belo Abismo (Beautiful Abyss) at Bisciotos on the Ilha Terceira, Azores, This is just one of the natural pools at Ponta Biscoitos that are found in the gaps between basalt blocks and are fed by waves and tides along the seashore. These natural rock pools contain crystal clear water and are natural swimming holes. At Biscoitos, the swimming area has been improved with walkways, steps, bridges, and shelters.
