Buachaille Etive Mor - By Moonlight
After making the early morning climb up Beinn A'Chrulaiste, I looked for a suitable location that looked down on to Buachaille Etive Mor. After catching my breathe I started to set up my gear, this was the first image I made of the morning catching the scene by moonlight.
Please feel free to share this image with your friends and family...enjoy;)

Pāhoehoe (on the left) is basaltic lava that has a smooth, billowy, undulating, or ropy surface. These surface features are due to the movement of very fluid lava under a congealing surface crust.
ʻAʻā (on the right) is basaltic lava characterized by a rough or rubbly surface composed of broken lava blocks called clinker. The clinkery surface actually covers a massive dense core, which is the most active part of the flow. As pasty lava in the core travels downslope, the clinkers are carried along at the surface.
The Hawaiian words were introduced as technical terms in geology by Clarence Dutton, who was head of the division of volcanic geology at the United States Geological Survey in the 1880's.
I can confirm from personal experience that it is quite easy to walk on pāhoehoe, but the loose, broken, and sharp, spiny surface of an ʻaʻā flow makes hiking difficult, slow and very hard on both feet and shoes.
I hope your week ahead has more pāhoehoe than ʻaʻā. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

I just LOVE Calla Lilies!!!
After someone mentioned that this reminded her of the work of Georgia O'Keeffe, I decided to rename this.

The picture was taken in a full moon night in March 2015. I was there from one to four o' clock in the morning. It was cold, but it was a great feelin' to have a full moon night at the river.
the music is much more older, but I think, the song is ok for the picture

We'd taken a 'break' from looking for strangers and stopped at an infamous Brick Lane pub for a quiet drink when I spotted Olivia walking along with a group of friends. She carried off her look with such style and grace that I was unable to not react. I passed my wine glass to someone (Iian I think) and went straight into my pitch. Olivia was happy to play along and a mural just next to the pub was the perfect colour tone for her.
I've really struggled to choose a picture to post here because I have more than a few keepers. I also did 4 different edits of this one and love them all equally. Definitely one of my favourite shots of the day.
I enlisted a friend of hers, who I've since discovered is called Toby, to hold the reflector for us. I bossed him around quite mercilessly and dubbed him 'Reflector Man' which raised some mirth. I don't know why it is that I get really bossy when I have a camera in hand because I'm not normally that way inclined. Definitely something for the psych couch one of these days!

Oxburgh Hall is a moated country house in Oxborough, Norfolk, England, today in the hands of the National Trust. Built around 1482 by Sir Edmund Bedingfeld, Oxburgh has always been a family home, not a fortress. The manor of Oxborough came to the Bedingfeld family by marriage before 1446, and the house has been continuously inhabited by them since their construction of it in 1482, the date of Edward Bedingfeld's licence to crenellate. A fine example of a late medieval, inward-facing great house, Oxburgh stands within a square moat about 75 metres on each side, and was originally enclosed; the hall range facing the gatehouse was pulled down in 1772 for Sir Richard Bedingfeld, providing a more open U-shaped house, with the open end of the U facing south. The entrance, reached by a three-arched bridge on the north side, is dramatised by a grand fortified gatehouse, evoking the owner's power and prestige, though as fortification its value is largely symbolic; it is flanked by tall polygonal towers rising in seven tiers, with symmetrical wings extending either side that reveal nothing on the exterior of their differing internal arrangements. About 1835 the open end of the U was filled in with a picturesque, by no means archaeologically correct range that recreated the central courtyard. Other Victorian additions include the Flemish-style stepped gables, the massive southeast tower, the oriel windows overhanging the moat (illustration, left) and terracotta chimneys. Four towers were added to the walled kitchen garden. The hall is well known for its priest hole. Due to the Catholic faith of the Bedingfeld family, a Catholic priest may have had to hide within the small disguised room in the event of a raid. The room is reached via a trapdoor, which when closed blends in with the tiled floor. Unlike many similar priest holes, the one at Oxburgh is open to visitors. The hall is also notable for the Oxburgh Hangings, needlework hangings by Mary, Queen of Scots and Bess of Hardwick. Mary worked on these while imprisoned in England, in the custody of the Earl of Shrewsbury. The estate has a number of woodland walks, including a 'Woodland Explorer' trail. Oxburgh Hall is a popular location for film and television series, including brief appearances in the Dad's Army episode "Museum Piece", and later in You Rang, M'Lord?. It was the major setting for the 1994 television dramatisation of Love on a Branch Line, a novel by John Hadfield. It is a Grade I listed building, the highest-level designation.
The Golden Twin-spot or Tomato Looper is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It is found from southern Europe, the Levant and tropical Africa, but can be found in great parts of Europe because it is a migratory species. The length of the forewings is 15–18 mm.

After a few photoshoots with disappointing results I have finally a photo I can show you. It is maybe the only day of the week without rain, snow or fog. Not a real sunrise, but the sun illuminated the clouds in very nice colors…

Are you a fan of the HBO series Game of Thrones? Are you really looking forward to the new season? Are you wondering if Jon Snow will be back?
If you're anything like me your answers are: Yes! Most definitely!
He has to!
Last week HBO announced that the new season would premiere in April with an awesome poster featuring a bloodied Jon Snow. Talk about juicing the fan base!
The poster is a really cool piece of graphic design - and it immediately started to shake me out of my creative funk.
(Did I mention I was in a creative funk?)
As we all know, inspiration can come from anywhere at any time - and that poster was pure inspiration to me. I enlisted my son Kyle, who has Jon Snow-like hair and features, as my model. I mixed up a batch of "blood" using corn syrup and a few drops of red and blue food coloring, borrowed a faux fur collared coat and got busy...
Winter is coming!
In case you haven't seen the poster...

Boterlaerhof Castle
Boterlaerhof castle dates from the 16th century, around 1525. In 1626, it was bought by Jonker Dassa, who made it his country house.
Rubens and Napoleon once stayed at this castle.
In 1907, the castle burned down completely, but was rebuilt the same year.
The castle remained inhabited until 2009. After that, it was put to other uses.
In 2015, the carelessness of a few teenagers resulted in the castle being destroyed by fire again. Boterlaerhof Castle rose from its ashes in 2019 and now serves, among other things, as a centre for youth holidays.

Its no secret I enjoy the post processing element of photography the most, but even I like it when post processing is a single click of a Lightroom preset. However there comes a time when I like to get intricate and detailed working on the pixel level for hours perfecting layer masks and this was an image I wanted to do this on.
Starting off as a single handheld shot in bright sunshine I removed and rebuilt a minimal sky to give the impression of an extremely long exposure.

The USS Midway Museum is a historical naval aircraft carrier museum located in downtown San Diego, California at Navy Pier. The museum consists of the aircraft carrier Midway. The ship houses an extensive collection of aircraft, many of which were built in Southern Californi
The USS Midway was the United States' longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century, from 1945 to 1992. Approximately 200,000 sailors served aboard the carrier, known for several naval aviation breakthroughs as well as several humanitarian missions. It was the only carrier to serve the entire length of the Cold War and beyond. It is currently a museum ship in San Diego, California.
Midway opened as a museum on 7 June 2004. By 2012 annual visitation exceeded 1 million visitors. As of 2015 Midway is the most popular naval warship museum in the United States. The museum has over 13,000 members, and hosts more than 700 events a year, including more than 400 active-duty Navy retirements, re-enlistments, and changes of command. The museum also hosts approximately 50,000 students on field trips and 5,000 children in its overnight program annually.
Admission includes a self-guided audio tour, narrated by former Midway sailors to more than 60 locations, including sleeping quarters, engine room, galley, bridge, brig, post office, foc's'le, pilots' ready rooms, officers quarters, primary flight control, and "officers country". Other features include climb-aboard aircraft and cockpits, videos, flight simulators, and a narrated audio tour for youngsters.
In addition to private events, the museum has hosted several events, including a nationally broadcast NCAA basketball game between San Diego State University and Syracuse University in 2012. American Idol has filmed an episode on Midway, as have the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, FOX News, The Bachelor, Extreme Makeover, History Channel, and Military Channel.
Membership has grown to more than 25,000. A high definition, holographic movie theater, "The Battle of Midway Theater", was added in 2017, and in 2019 the museum is adding a virtual reality flight simulator ride in addition to its existing four flight simulators.
You know the situation when you visit a place so often so you can not see all the beauty of it. This happened to me recently. I've been to the park in the center of the city a lot of times, but never in the night. It was a good surprise for me to watch all the lights and play of reflections in the pond. It's the only water surface in the region that is not covered with ice as I remember. So all the ducks from the city came here to find a shelter, to survive....
Thank you for all you comments and favs, my friends.

Littles of Ilkeston picked up additional DCC contracts in October 2017, following on from the 140/1/2 and 150 they gained in October 2015. Littles now operate Matlock local routes 216 and 217 which were previously worked by TM Travel, as well as routes 143 and 144 which had been operated by McEwens. In contrast to the Enviro 200s purchased new to cover their additional work in 2015, these latest routes appear to be operated by late-life Solos.
Former NCT Optare Solo M920 V257DRB (B5) is seen here crossing the 1761-constructed Beeley Bridge at the southern end of Chatsworth Park with the 10:00 217 back to Matlock. The 217 came about in January 2015 to cover the stretch of the 218 between Chatsworth and Matlock which was largely abandoned when TM Travel increased the frequency on the rest of the 218 route. It essentially amounted an extension of Matlock town service M3 north of Hackney, and consequently does not connect well with any of the longer-distance routes it shares termini with. The Sunday service, which omits Hackney, is still operated by TM.
It was looking like a rainy afternoon back on the boat after a long morning walking tour of Bastia. As the day wore on, the rain slowed and the sun began to play through the clouds at that low angle that makes landscape photographers grin from ear to ear. I scurried off the boat, tripod, camera, umbrella, and set up on the edge of the wharf. The light that soon enveloped the coast was truly amazing.

Finally it seems like the summer has arrived in Germany! Most of us probably try to find some refreshment… Hopefully you feel a little refreshed when you see this image ;)
Such a splash-shoot makes so much fun! I did it already quite some time ago… but it certainly is something you can repeat without getting bored. And I love those shootings where can nibble your subjects in the end ;) These cherries from the garden were delicious..
Strobist info: I used two YN560III. One was facing the background and the other one was pointing at the subjects.
