BrickFair VA 2013 has already come and gone! I just got back this morning, and I can't believe how fast that went by. It was great though, meeting so many new people, and seeing the huge increase in mocs. I must admit, things were pretty hectic for me; As a result I was not able to obtain footage or photos of most of the mocs at the event.
This year I decided that I'd take it slow in terms of my displays, and therefore I brought my case full of my latest custom minifigures along with the rather simple Iron Man 3 Hall of Armor moc that I finished constructing last month. I'm glad that everyone enjoyed the both of them! Things won't be as simple next year ;)
A lot happens in a year, and it's great to see everyone grow and innovate in the community.
Thanks for an awesome time guys, and I'll see you at BrickFair VA 2014!
I did my grocery shopping and I got something for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sadly I forgot to buy dessert! ;-)

Sand and even what looks to be a crab fly, including tempers with these two, clearly hubby got home too late and did not get on with the chores around the beach house pad! Bet he wished he made the call earlier.
Absolutely loads of these European Peacocks about at the moment, I don't know if I've seen so many before. Certainly looks to be a good year for Butterflies and definitely an improvement on last years washout.
I used my 180mm Tamron macro for this on 12mm of extension tubes mounted on my heavy duty Manfrotto tripod. I was surprised how approachable they are when feeding, most were feeding on Ragwort. I really struggled with DOF here and to get the whole Butterfly in focus was tricky, you have to wait for those wings to flatten out and pray it's going to work.
Thought this would make a colourful change from more Common Darters LOL :o)
Watching "To Kill A Mockingbird" tonight, they don't make them like this anymore, a great film, I really should read the book :o)

The 2013 Workhorse is a microvan offering from the German automotive giant, Volvexa. With a V-6 under the hood, the Workhorse is a formidable powerhouse with room for 2 minifigures.
I've been wanting to photograph this one for a while, but I just now had the time! Definitely one of my favorites.

Sorry I haven't been around flickrtown all that much recently. It's been a busy time of the year, with trips to see family and friends taking up a lot of the holidays. Of course, that didn't stop my wife and I from taking our 16th trip to Yosemite in 2012. We haven't set a goal for 2013, but it sure is a hard place to stay away from. :-)

If I comment on somebody's photograph it's because I've been moved to do so, and it's nice to think people will do the same for me. However, PLEASE don't use banners and distracting graphics. Whilst it's always lovely to know someone likes a particular photo, these 'awards' are ugly and, because they don't say anything constructive, will be removed.

I found this honey bee in a waterlogged plant pot today. It was soaked so I moved it into the sun to dry off. It eventually flew off, but stayed still long enough for me to get a few shots. Anyone know what that is on it's back? Babies? They have legs....
