Evocación poético-histórica, en el claustro de Juan I, del monasterio de Batalla (Batalha).
El ejército portugués mandado por Nuno Alvares pretendía defender la nueva dinastía lusa encabezada por Juan I, de la casa de Avís, frente a las tropas españolas que querían mantener la antigua monarquía. Ante la superioridad numérica de las tropas castellanas, el rey Juan I hizo la promesa de construir el más bello monasterio que se pudiera realizar, si ganaba la contienda. En la Batalla de Aljubarrota, 1385, los castellanos fueron derrotados.
Aquí comenzaron a dividirse los hermanos luso-españoles por culpa del separatismo de los consejeros con mente provinciana y de las monarquías ineptas.
Aspiración vana.
Busca el poeta con ardor sublime
encerrar en el ritmo de sus versos
las dudas de su alma dolorida
y de angustias punzantes el recuerdo.

y dar vida inmortal a un pensamiento.

Northern Pintail (m with f behind) The Pintail walks well on land, and swims buoyantly. It has a very fast flight, with its wings slightly swept-back, rather than straight out from the body like other ducks. A pintail skeleton was found at 16,400 feet on the Khumbu Glacier during the 1952 expedition to Mt. Everest. IMG_5804

I shot this a few weeks ago but hadn't got around to uploading it until today.
This is Tacking Point Lighthouse at Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid North Coast.
Today I reached out to a lot of my friends here on flickr and asked them to go out of their way to vote for me in a frivolous online photography competition and was shocked at how happy each and every one of you were to help me out!
