"Salartij" is located in Barriada Blas Infante and is the second mural by the Moraga collective comprised of inmates from the prison in Alhaurin de la Torre.

The name is a reference to the animals which are depicted on the mural. The two salamanders are each 5m high and are made of metal fixed on to the wall of the building. It was inaugurated in September 2014.

"La Ruta de Murales Artísticos de Estepona" (Estepona’s Route of Artistic Murals) is an incentive implemented by the local council and the mayor, Jose Maria Garcia Urbano that was started in September 2012. The route is just one part of a local rejuvenation project.

The objective was to improve and enliven some of Estepona’s forgotten or neglected neighbourhoods and it was hoped that the series of murals that are spread across the town would put Estepona on the tourist map and make it a cultural destination. It was clearly a successful initiative and looking at the wide variety of murals it is clear to see why tourists and residents alike are eager to follow the route and view each of the murals (information by Marianne Hill).

Llangollen Railway - Following the serious news earlier in the week - I attach three of my favourite Llangollen images taken in 2012, 2013 and 2016 (all on 1000 straight - what a location) as support to the Railway.

Let's hope some good comes out of this and that other Railways can survive what are very difficult and unusual times. I am sure that others are also close to the Llangollen situation (DSC 0184)

"那一年我們望著星空 未來的未來從沒想過

當故事失去美夢 美夢失去線索 而我們失去聯絡

這一片無言無語星空 為什麼靜靜看我淚流

如果你在的時候 會不會伸手擁抱我

Another re-edit of this image, was jsut taken after i got my first DSLR in 2012, i cant seem to get the MW look 100% but this i think is more to do with the angle of the MW. Also it was taken on a 50mm 1.8 prime lens.

Thanks for all visits and comments. Taken with a cell Nokia N8. This photo was taken on November 24, 2012

A co-worker gave me this display cabinet yesterday so I put all my LPS Blythe's in it. It's in my bedroom on top of my grandma's hope chest. It's nice seeing them all together. I have all of them that are currently available except the 2nd Pet Jet that is a Toys R Us exclusive. It's spot is waiting on the top right of the cabinet. New ones are being released soon - maybe later this month!!

Continuation of Rügen winter series. This time one picture from national park "Jasmund". Stormy sea and iced bolders makes great composition for me. The green color of the sea is from chalk here.

Fast same conditions as on my first image of this series.

Enjoy!

Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Bell of the striking clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, England, and the name is frequently extended to refer also to the clock and the clock tower. The official name of the tower in which Big Ben is located was originally the Clock Tower, but it was renamed Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II.

The tower was designed by Augustus Pugin in a neo-Gothic style. When completed in 1859, its clock was the largest and most accurate four-faced striking and chiming clock in the world. The tower stands 316 feet (96 m) tall, and the climb from ground level to the belfry is 334 steps. Its base is square, measuring 40 feet (12 m) on each side. Dials of the clock are 22.5 feet (6.9 m) in diameter. All four nations of the UK are represented on the tower on shields featuring a rose for England, thistle for Scotland, shamrock for Ireland, and leek for Wales. On 31 May 2009, celebrations were held to mark the tower's 150th anniversary.

The tower is a British cultural icon recognised all over the world. It is one of the most prominent symbols of the United Kingdom and parliamentary democracy, and it is often used in the establishing shot of films set in London. The clock tower has been part of a Grade I listed building since 1970 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

The humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is a species of baleen whale. One of the larger rorqual species, adults range in length from 12–16 metres (39–52 ft) and weigh approximately 36,000 kilograms (79,000 lb). The humpback has a distinctive body shape, with unusually long pectoral fins and a knobbly head. An acrobatic animal known for breaching and slapping the water with its tail and pectorals, it is popular with whale watchers off Australia, New Zealand, South America, Canada, and the United States.

Males produce a complex song lasting 10 to 20 minutes, which they repeat for hours at a time. Its purpose is not clear, though it may have a role in mating.

Found in oceans and seas around the world, humpback whales typically migrate up to 25,000 kilometres (16,000 mi) each year. Humpbacks feed only in summer, in polar waters, and migrate to tropical or subtropical waters to breed and give birth in the winter. During the winter, humpbacks fast and live off their fat reserves. The species' diet consists mostly of krill and small fish. Humpbacks have a diverse repertoire of feeding methods, including the bubble net feeding technique.

Like other large whales, the humpback was and is a target for the whaling industry. Once hunted to the brink of extinction, its population fell by an estimated 90% before a moratorium was introduced in 1966. While stocks have since partially recovered, entanglement in fishing gear, collisions with ships, and noise pollution continue to impact the 80,000 humpbacks worldwide.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humpback_whale

In Iceland it is possible to see whales in Eyjafjordur, Skjalfandifloi and Faxafloi. The towns offering whale watching are Dalvik, Hauganes, Húsavik, and Reykjavik. Most common are minke whale, humpback whale, white sided dolphin, blue whale, and harbour porpoise.

The Ghost Cat is my special needs cat. Most of my other cats do not like her and she has her own room when I am not home and at night. Some nights I let her sleep alone in my room with me. She must have had a terrible time at some point in her life.

All I know about her is that in late 2009 she turned up at the pound. One of my coworkers was talked into adopting her from the pound to save her life but he and his family were not happy with her. She hid all the time and lived like a ghost in their house. She would come out only at night to eat and to use the litter box and to get into stuff in the kitchen. I offered to trade one of my friendlier, fixed rescued cats for her. Mango went to my coworker's home and this timid cat came to my home. She was about a year, maybe a year and a half old at the time. I don't know if she had a name at her previous home, but I named her Ghost because of her lifestyle at my coworker's home.

I got her spayed and worked with her for months. I even adopted her out once. She did not do well at her new home and was returned within a few days. My parents even took her for a week when I went on holidays at Christmas last year. They tried to work with her but she just shut down. If I could find her a great home, I would adopt out this beautiful cat, but she is so special needs that whoever took her would have to be very patient. Good homes are hard to come by, so it seems likely that she is one of my forever cats.

When I am home she sometimes stays in her room, but at other times she will venture out into the main part of the house. Today she came out and even had a fun time with an unattended mousie she found.
