Window 2

I will be uploading the windows one every day .

This is a shot from the editor, while editing the first level for Chopper 2. I'm trying to make this level a complete experience now, before I move to working on other levels.

The game view in the bottom right is displaying my current progress on the 'mission failed' screen. It goes red, the Chopper explodes and stuff, and thats about it. But I'm actually really stoked that it is finally possible to fail a level and trigger some kind of fail screen. The completion and introduction screens are more advanced.

I'd love to just put in a giant crappy font: "FAIL". But Chopper 2 is a bit too serious for that. It will politely say why you failed, and you'll have to try again.

I also added the first trees today, and in the top right, you can see the white lines showing where the the 3D tree model intersects the 2D level plane. The tree is made of 3 quads, which seems to be a good compromise.

The trees add hugely to the visual appeal of this level, and also add obstacles to low fliers, which works well for gameplay.

Suffering from 2 busted strobes. Used ambient and a 430ex on cam at 1/2. I'm aware of the burn in the doors, but given the lighting I had, I didn't have much choice. I bumped the recovery all the way up in LR, but still had a bit of burn. This entire set was for a stager, so my shots focus more on the stuff in the house as opposed to the actual rooms.

I’ve Been “Tagged”

1.I’m 52 years old. I will be 53 on September 11. No one knew exactly when my birthday was until that day in 2001 when the world changed.

2.I started working when I was 19 years old for what was then “Penelec” and have seen a lot of changes thru the years to where the company is now a part of FirstEnergy Corp. You can do the math as to how long I have been working. I am fortunate to have survived many downsizing and still work in the same building complex as when I started so many years ago.

3.Much of my career I worked with Harry Hunt (he turned me on to Flickr) so we go way back.

4.I live in rural western Pennsylvania near the Quemahoning Dam on the family homestead. I was fortunate to purchase 18 acres so I have a part of my history. Most of my time now is spent taking care of my 82 year old mother who lives with me.

5.I began taking photographs around 30 years ago when I bought my first camera, a Vivitar 2200SL. I still have the camera and use it occasionally. Also have approximately 3 dozen antique and other cameras.

6.Other activities include golfing and hiking (not as much as I’d like to). Gardening and cooking. Love hot peppers and grow them every summer. Also do woodworking. I remember going to the local High School with my dad when he built furniture in their shop. Must be where I picked that up.

7.Used to ride bicycles with a group of friends. We used to go on rides in Lancaster County, PA and other places. I remember the time Harry and the others left me to die on the trail. (Ask Harry about this. He likes telling the stories).

8.I used to take wedding photos but have gotten out of that and just take portraits and photos for me now. I love the digital cameras so now I can enhance them myself.

9.I’ve met some good friends on Flickr and get so many ideas from the photos posted. I need to get to West Virginia soon to take some photos of all the waterfalls I see.

10.Almost forgot, I started to download my album collection to CD. It will take quite some time to complete but it will be worth it.

I am grateful to have the chance to learn about plants and their medicinal qualities. Skullcap is an herb that has helped me tremendously. I was delighted to discover that there is a skullcap that is native to Arizona and is being grown by Desert Survivors Nursery in Tucson that also carries the medicinal qualities of it's better know relatives. It is a beautiful little plant that flowers during May and through the summer and then disappears during the winter. It reseeds and finds it's own special places among the rocks of my garden. It does well on the north side and with afternoon shade and requires more water than the local, native plants.

Centaurium tenuiflorum (Hoffmanns. & Link) Fritsch, syn.: Erythraea tenuiflora, Erythraea latifolia auct., non Sm.

Slender Centaury, DE: Tausendgüldenkraut, CR: nježnocvjetna kičica

Slo.: ozkocvetna tavžentroža

Dat.: June 22. 2010

Lat.: 44.39193 Long.: 14.79848

Code: Bot_431/2010_DSC2846

Habitat: sea shore, flat terrain, partly grassland; calcareous, skeletal, humid ground; full sun; exposed to direct rain; elevation 10 m (33 feet); average precipitations ~ 1.000 mm/year, average temperature 13-15 deg C, Mediterranean phytogeographical region.

Substratum: soil.

Place: Adriatic Sea; Island Olib, 'Slatina' beach, Kvarner bay, Rijeka region, Croatia EC.

Comment: Centaurium tenuiflorum is a typical Mediterranean plant, which is quite common along sea shores of Adriatic islands. Otherwise the plant grows in the entire Mediterranean. It requires humid ground. So, it is often found close to sea on marshy ground, near springs and half salt lakes, which often form in small bays along the law land coast.

There are several other quite similar species in this genus growing in Mediterranean. Typical traits of Centaurium tenuiflorum are clustered, flat-topped flowers, which have short flower stalks and narrow calyx tube of only about 1 mm diameter. Also there are no ground rosettes leaves. Two ground leaves are almost completely withered at the time of flowering.

The pictures were taken on the island Olib in Croatia, but the plant can be (still) found along Slovenian sea shore. It is rare there and considered critically endangered facing extinction in Slovenia.

Protected according to: Pravilnik o uvrstitvi ogroženih rastlinskih in živalskih vrst v rdeči seznam, Uradni list RS, št. 82/2002 (Regulation of enlisting of endangered plant and animal species onto Red List, Official Gazette of Republic Slovenia, no. 82/2002) (2002). Enlisted in the Slovene Red List of rare and endangered species, marked by "E" representing a critically endangered species.

Finally went to the doctor today! It felt really good - I got diagnosed and all med'ed up - and set out on the path to recovery. I also learned that I LOVE the Rougemont doctor and he adorable little chalet office! I have a virus in my stomach...that causes stomach spasms....that makes me obviously not want to eat...you know, because it hurts. This just aligns perfectly with the theme of this year - 2012 The Year I Found Every Way to Not Eat. So miserable.

But path to recovery - yes! And after my amazing visit with Rougemont Doctor Saint, we stopped off at the little grocery store in town before heading back to the office/home. I snapped this picture because (1) I was really happy at this moment with the sun out and my new prospects of recovering, and (2) I couldn't believe how jammed packed the parking lot was out front. All four spots were taken and two more cars were double parked. Big day in town.

I was really scared to try these, but they were actually a blast to make! Three Little Pumpkins sent me a paper piecing pattern for them. I ended up tracing the pattern and used Oh Fransson!'s method for using freezer paper (found here: www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2009/07/map-of-the-states-...) to cut them out and piece them. They were actually pretty easy this way. :)

Thank you Three Little Pumpkins for the pattern! You saved me! ;)

This photo accompanies Figure 16.—Indicator A11 (Depleted Below Dark Surface). [Field Indicators of Hydric Soils in the United States].

Typical soil profile of the Hegne soil. The Hegne series (Typic Calciaquerts) consists of very deep, poorly drained soils that formed in clayey calcareous lacustrine sediments on glacial lake plains. These soils have slow or very slow permeability. They have slopes of 0 to 2 percent. Mean annual precipitation is about 20 inches. Mean annual air temperature is about 42 degrees F.

The Hegne soils have slightly convex to slightly concave slopes of less than 2 percent on glacial lake plains and in a few places these soils are on flood plains. These soils commonly are on the higher lying positions of microrelief topography. They formed in clayey lacustrine sediments of Late Wisconsin age. Mean annual air temperature ranges from 38 to 45 degrees F. Mean annual precipitation ranges from 15 to 27 inches. Frost-free days range from 90 to 140. Elevation above sea level ranges from 650 to 1800 feet.

Nearly all of these soils are cultivated. Principal crops are small grains and sugar beets. Native vegetation is tall grass prairie. Hegne soils are of large extent principally in the Red River Valley of northwestern Minnesota and eastern North Dakota, also in smaller glacial lake basins in western Minnesota and north-central North Dakota.

A, E, and calcic horizons may have low chromas and high values and may therefore be mistaken for a depleted matrix. They are excluded from the concept of depleted matrix unless the soil has common or many distinct or prominent redox concentrations occurring as soft masses or pore linings.

Soil profile and features:

This indicator often occurs in Mollisols (mollic epipedon) but also applies to soils with umbric epipedons and dark colored ochric epipedons. For soils with dark colored epipedons more than 30 cm (12 inches) thick, use indicator A12.

Note: A depleted matrix requires value of 4 or more and chroma of 2 or less. Redox concentrations, including soft iron-manganese masses and/or pore linings, are required in soils with matrix colors of 4/1, 4/2, or 5/2.

Zoom in and you will see this soil has a depleted matrix directly under the surface horizon: (10YR 4/2) in the upper part (Bkssg1) and (10YR 5/2) in the lower part (Bkssg2) with common to many distinct or prominent redox concentrations and redox depletions, increasing with depth.

Taking this picture a couple of hours after image 2 (I had stopped for lunch). Then as I continued on my way this sideview caught my eye and I had to shoot one last image even though it wasn't in the best of light being around noon time.

Photos from a seven day trip to WA State's wilderness coast. Hiking south from Ozette Lake to a bit south of Cedar Creek.

Day 2 - I hiked from the Lake Ozette Campground to Yellow Bank. With all the hiking on the coast you have to mind the tide and I rounded the last point to Yellow bank with the tide lapping at the rocks I had to clamber over. Camped in the woods up in a high bluff on the titular Yellow bank.

I present the Stalefish 2!

I created the original Stalefish ship nearly a decade ago, you can still see the old Brickshelf gallery here:

After collecting dust all those years on my shelves, I decided I could make it better. I tried to stay as true to my original design and concept as I could, just give it a facelift.

I used photoshop to turn the original image (shown below) into a sphere using various filters. I cut the sphere in half, kept the best side, duplicated the best side, and put them together to create the final image. I merged the image into a jpg & used picasa to adjust the colors.
