This is a shot from the editor, while editing the first level for Chopper 2. I'm trying to make this level a complete experience now, before I move to working on other levels.
The game view in the bottom right is displaying my current progress on the 'mission failed' screen. It goes red, the Chopper explodes and stuff, and thats about it. But I'm actually really stoked that it is finally possible to fail a level and trigger some kind of fail screen. The completion and introduction screens are more advanced.
I'd love to just put in a giant crappy font: "FAIL". But Chopper 2 is a bit too serious for that. It will politely say why you failed, and you'll have to try again.
I also added the first trees today, and in the top right, you can see the white lines showing where the the 3D tree model intersects the 2D level plane. The tree is made of 3 quads, which seems to be a good compromise.
The trees add hugely to the visual appeal of this level, and also add obstacles to low fliers, which works well for gameplay.
