2 Viv 285HV CL CR both on light stands (not ttripods) w 35" silver convertible umbrella's
SB-24 w/ Sto-fen Omnibounce in corner far R to R of chair, 1/16th - didnt fire
SB-28 tucked in far room L behind slats with at 1/8th
SB-600 on camera triggering all Sonia Optical sensors attached to each flash via PC cord - sweet setup but will move to all SB-80Dx in future - less work.
This was a 103 deg day, shoot 2 of 2 I hadnt eaten and was dehydrated and pissy w a headache from heat exhaustion.
Anyways, 6500 sq ft Folsom Lake-front 80's Miami Vice House totally cheesy Modern w indoor pool, everything white w peach except this room was African decor???
Okay I got the silver umbrella reflection on slatted wall-door unit pullout thing, not sure how much of that is from the (add-edit ->) Sunlight through door L..., reflection ceiling L behind that, otherwise, pretty clean for my first 5-flash shot I'd say.
Shooting with all these flashes is what I've been saving up to do for 2 years, had a blast setting up, figuring out placement etc. Wicked - no more HDR!! In total only shot maybe 65 photos - we're talking 15 big rooms.
I also shot lower than I was before - like it better, verts not adjusted door R
I guess what I am looking for from y'all is a solution to the far L strobe reflection / ceiling issue...lower on tripod and down to 1/16th?
Exactly 2 months after giving birth to Maddy, I finally got back in the pool. I surprised myself by swimming my pre-pregnancy pace (a little over 50 seconds/lap), though I only did 16 laps instead of my usual 36. Still, a good workout. Less good was the fact that there was NO hot water in the showers afterwards. My poor babywearing muscles need a good hot shower!
Today's positives?
1. My darling girl is 2 months old
2. I've recovered pretty much completely from the havoc she wreaked on my body on the way out
3. I've got great friends in the department who are willing to watch Maddy while I swim.
4. I got to swim!!
(Yeongdo, Busan, South Korea) Some part of this probably dates to the colonial period, but its hard to tell at this point. Either way, it was probably built before 1960. The buildings around Yeongdo may be some of the oldest still standing in Busan. Taken around the old harbor in present day Yeongdo-gu in Daepyeongdong 1(il)-ga and Daepyeongdong 2(i)-ga.
4 1/2 yards for the plaid. 3 1/2 for the solid. 3 1/2? I'm not sure I buy that for a dress with such a big skirt.

I knew this would happen, I'm obsessed already! I've been back to watch the Hares again tonight.
Fascinating creatures. It is no wonder I have not seen them before, apart from once chance encounter. They lie so low in the grass with literally an ear visible at best. I only saw this when it turned its head and the sun caught it.
Tonight there was one lying low in its form to the right of the gate. Just moving it's head occasionally. It was the only one I could see after scanning the field. The very second the sun set over the horizon another rose from my left and started heading from left to right across the field directly towards the other one. It was quite bold as it headed across the field and didn't appear bothered by my presence. The two Hares ran around in circles chasing each other before disappearing through the hedge into field 1.
I'm just going to watch from a distance on my next few visits to see what they do and where there go so I can get myself nearer hopefully.

On Friday, at 2, I went to the dentist (a place that normally I would NEVER go-HATE, HATE HATE, the dentist. Not personally, just as a general rule of thumb.) She removed my broken, abscessed molar. All was good, till she pulled the roots out. It was as close as I have ever come to fainting from pain. She kept telling me how brave I was. Uhh, "stoopit" is the word I think she was going for. lol What am I, 5 years old? Such a brave little boy. lol All that under the influence of two Ativans. Needless to say, I probably shouldn't have gone back to work. Went home, and layed on the bed. Woke up to take my night time sleeping pills (Yeah, I know), and didn't wake up again till 8:30 Saturday morning. Had a family photo shoot at 10:30, and as I'm almost out the door about a quarter to 9, I get a call from an old student. She has a wedding to shoot, and she is sick with pink eye, can I help her. Sigh. You can guess what I said. "What time is it, and where is it, and does the bride know?" lol Well, I spent from 1:30-10:00ish helping there. Took around 1100 shots. Sigh. All the time feeling sick as a dog myself from the antibiotics from my tooth, and pain in my whole jaw. Last nite I felt so sick, and had so much pain, I got about an hour of tortured sleep. :-( My jaw keeps puffing up, and going down again, still feel sick (all through my grandson's 4th birthday party today), and I'm still fighting mind numbing pain. Then my boss texted me today to ask if I would work every day for her this week. What did I say? As long as you know that I have a rheumatologist appointment, a GP appointment, and a follow-up dental appointment, on three different days. Maybe I'll slip an MRI in there somewhere too, as that looks like the next step. Other than that, yeah, things are good. :-) How was your weekend? lol Hey, I am laughing about it (through the pain, and stomach ailment). Who knew that getting old could be so much fun? So, if some of my comments the last few days, have been slightly unintelligible, now you know why. lol This shot is from the wedding yesterday, which had a beautiful Christmas theme. It was a gorgeous red and whitepalooza.
While I was down in Onehunga photographing the harbor the other week, I spotted this fenced-off back entrance to the port. It immediately put me in mind of several scenes from Half-Life 2. I couldn't resist doctoring it up a little bit to add to the effect.

…And it hit me like a fright train.
Around about this time a year ago, one of the big hips in my life had revolved around the idea that I was finally going to see one of my stories become a comic book series. As you can see, a year later. That never happened. Not only did my story, like so many before never leave the pages of it’s original manuscript, the aforementioned comic book company never even managed to spread its wings and get off the ground. Bad management sealed our fate, and it was over before it had even begun.
I can’t say the experience was entirely heart braking. I figure any opportunity that arises worthy enough to get my gears grinding out a new story is always a plus. The comic book, maybe dead (at least for the moment) but the story is not. And in this case I feel like it was a double plus, considering I decided to run with an idea my wife had been quietly sitting on for a good number of years. Odele, isn’t dead. She’s just been put on the back burner. Actually I get to call it a triple whammy. During that time frame we’d also befriended a fellow writer, and have since stayed in touch. We still have aspirations of working on a project together one day. And we’ve both been patiently hunting for an opportunity since.
That was a year ago, and opportunities. Well they just don’t seem to be there. That got me thinking today. Well, actually like I’d mentioned before. It kind of hit me like a freight train. “Dude, I should just make my own damn comic book.” Then I remembered that I couldn't draw worth a shit, and for a second I kind of pushed the idea out of my head. Till I thought back on Sin Blanca. I’ve done three installments now. Each three panels long. Each a little more intricate then the last. Sort of like character development. Or early storyboard concepts. And that’s when it really hit me.
“I don’t need to find an artist to make a comic book. I already have one…Me.”
I’m not even sure it’s ever been done before but that is my plan. I’m going to start a new story (there’s a reason for that). My aim is for a short forty page graphic novel. Dark, dry, dirty, and left wide open for the opportunity to further the story. Simple. I already have a new protagonist. Sin. To turn it into a graphic novel, I’m not going to call on artists to draw me up pages though. I’m going to rally a few friends, pass a script around, and create the entire thing with my camera.
I’m gonna make a comic book with processed pictures. Hence the reason for a new story. I can think outside of the box, but only as far as what my camera lens can feasibly capture. A ten story building blowing up, and then collapsing. Cool as that might sound. I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be able to get a picture of that. I have limitations. But this isn’t the first time I’ve had to write under scrutiny, and really I’m limited only by what I think I can shoot, and post process. Beyond that. The sky is the limit.
If all goes well I hope to have a decent story in the next few months. Rally a few friends to enlist as cast, and hopefully shooting will begin on schedule early to mid spring.
I have a feeling this is going to be fun as hell.

2. I now spend a lot of time in the City and I do enjoy all it has to offer... including some of the very naughty people you find there ;-)

4. I enjoy taking risks (and I do things in sl which part of me would love to do in rl)... but not without limit... all suggestions welcome ;-)
5. I have a serious fashion addiction.
6. I CAN save... until I see the latest shoes!

12. I think the fashion in sl has been better than that in rl over the last year.

#18, Movie, The Watcher with James Spader
I am a police officer in 3 different scenes.
1) I am passing out a flyer to a woman
2) I am the police officer behind the Detective Planet of the apes) on the corner
3) I am the police officer on the right ,across the street as the guy on the skate board shows up
taken a little after my cat nap and before going off to church services. Overall, OpenSim works good as a standalone. I've been reading about how a standalone can be connected to a grid as its own pre-formed region with its own grid coordinates. This is somewhat liberating, being that you have more control on whether you want to have your region up 24/7, or have specific times and particular events to have your region activated and public. However, it sounds like it would be best to wait until I have a dedicated server to work this out. But, for now, knowing that it is possible to connect my region(s) to OpenSim grids is cool enough.
Besides the privacy, some things I like about OpenSim Standalone are:
1. I don't have to deal with noobs for any reason.
2. I can use realistic sizes and not have people freak out and call it being a child avatar, and therefore some nasty, evil pervy pedo, simply because I like having my avatar be my real height of 5'11 instead of nearly the size of a two story building.
3. NO DRAMA! None whatsoever. Oh sure, Ioh and Jane might argue a bit, but honestly? Arguing with yourself gets boring quick. <.<
4. IT's FREE! At least uploading the components and getting it all set up is mostly about spending time figuring it out. But, once you do get it figured out, you find it's time well spent. Especially when it gets down to building your own virtual world on your computer for free. Sharing it with the rest of the world might come with a fee, but the initial ability to have a free personal region or grid to work on that isn't dependent upon how good your connection is, well that is priceless.
5. Who needs LL? Seriously,who really needs them? Sure, they were innovative for a while in the metaverse when they first came out, and pretty much up until about the end of 2007. Since, most of their decent innovations, including mesh, has come from third party viewers and OpenSim itself. Now that LL has shown their true 'green' (not environmental) colors, all bets are off. Both TPVs and OpenSim would do better without SL, especially if they join forces and work to bring about a fully functional and operational hypergrid, which it is certainly progressing in doing. Regardless of SL abandoning it, hypergrid is the future of the metaverse. At least it is a much more preferable one wherein it is free and open, and truly a world that is yours and up to your imagination to help create it. And now with LL's umbilical cord cut, it's about time for OpenSim to grow and expand, especially now that it no longer has to wait for SL to catch up.
Only things I haven't liked about OpenSim:
1. It can be hard to find people. Sure, OpenSim Grid is one of the largest of the open grids out there. It rivals both comercial grids InWorldz and Avination in terms of population. But even so, SL is still so much larger in terms of people using it. I don't see as many SL types making a huge leap into OpenSim at the moment. There's still people that think they can cash in on LL's pyramid scheme, that more often than not leaves a person having to pay for a bloated, over-priced sim that they can no longer manage. LL still doesn't fix stuff from years ago, but people still want to support SL, regardless of how it is becoming more and more of a closed grid that doesn't care about anything other than making money. I guess stick to what you're used to?
2. Quit whining about SL and move on! Sure, this may sound hypocritical,but it is true that Open Sim needs to quit focusing on what SL's next big move is and just focus on what new and awesome improvements and innovations OpenSim can do. SL was mostly dragging Open Sim down as some tag-along, and never really seemed to care about hypergrid, save for when There.com was a big competitor and SL was trying to put itself in the light of the freedom world. Now, SL is equivalent to what There was then, and There is coming back as something more community oriented, like SL used to be. Open Sim, though, is positioned perfectly to take up the reigns of being that go-to part of the metaverse that actually does care about the people residing in it. But they can't do that if they don't let go of SL and move on.
Beyond that, I am finding I enjoy life in the OpenSim part of the metaverse quite well. I still reside on 3rd Rock Grid on Jack's Hill, and find that a friendly enough grid. Always happy to have some visitors come along, and we can relax on my little plot of land, or go about exploring, and seeing what new opportunities await. Just have to know who's on board?

3. Till now I don't like potty training, I think the grass and sand is scary...

5. I am walking on my pink leash very good already, but my legs are so short so I'm tired quickly.
6. In the evening when it's bedtime I have to go in the bench, but when I wake up in the morning Woody and I are allowed to come on mom and dad's bed for a few minutes. That's big fun!
7. I love to play with Woody, we're pulling rope to see who's stronger, but Woody always win.
8. I want to taste almost everything I see, but that's not allowed by mom and dad. Why not, bugs taste good!
9. When I'm alone in a room for a moment I start to cry. I hate it to be alone.
10. I think the family cat Lilo is strange. She likes to go for a walk with us, but don't want to play with me.
11. I already listen to my name. When someone calles me, I run to that person cause I know I get petted than.

A rather tired looking Honda Jazz which I only really photographed due to it's colour.
I took this photo whilst watching a woman try to park her giant electric Audi thing. She mounted the kerb, nearly running me over and then proceeded to kerb the car multiple times trying to squeeze into an end space. I honestly thought she was going end up scraping the Volvo next to her as she was only inches off it. She'd have been far better reversing into the space, but honestly it was a great example of how cars have gotten far too big.
There's things i haven't told you ... yet! (btw i really love the kid in that video!)

I grew up with the famous 1960's Phillips 66 stations, known as the "Gull Wing" design, with the triangular canopies over the pumps.
But Phillips had used a charming Cottage Style much earlier. Now that I know this, they're jumping out at me everywhere!
This one, now a coffee shop, in Kansas (barely--it's on State Line Road, looking into Missouri) has the chimney, the slate tile roof, all of it!

1) I hate labels. They are obstacles to communicating and understanding.
2) I am a Miami Dolphins fan. I chose them as a child because someone asked me to name a favourite football team. So glad I did not pick the Cincinnati Bengals!
3) I am naturally nocturnal. Whenever I am off work for more than a few days, I adjust to a schedule that keeps me up until 4 or 5 AM.
4) I am extremely shy.
5) I like variety. A big buffet, a set of 144 markers, a playlist ignoring genres, and a library are all examples of things that make me happy because of the variety of options.
6) I named my 2nd youngest sister. The doctor said the sonogram showed a boy so my parents had only selected boys names. When she was born, we were all very pleasantly surprised. My parents liked the name I suggested (“Sanci”).
7) I have always wanted to be a twin.
8) In high school, my goal was to be a minister and lecturer who specialized in apologetics. Think of C. S. Lewis with a Samurai sword and a ‘fro.
9) I love the beauty of human beings. We are a species I find very attractive. Male, female, young, old… does not matter. Every ethnicity is beautiful to me.
10) I adore predatory animals. The big cats, Peregine falcons, wolves, hyenas, sharks and bottle-nosed dolphins amaze me. Even fictional creatures like vampires, dragons, and the Borg strike me with a fascination. There is something about the hunt…
11) For most of my life, blue was my favourite colour. When my youngest brother passed away 2 years ago, I started liking red (his favourite) because it reminds me of him.
12) I like my own company. Being an introvert, I use the alone time to recharge.
13) When I was in junior high, my mother’s friend took one look at me and said “I bet you can’t keep this one out of the mirror.” Ever since then, I’ve never put any value on what I looked like. She probably did me a favour and squashed any vanity that was beginning to brew.
14) I have 24,244 songs on my iPod Classic (160GB). My tastes vary, but I came of age in the 80s so I have a strong bias towards that decade.
15) In high school, I developed a habit of listening to music late at night when I am tired. Over the years, there have been a number of times when I am so relaxed and in that space between sleep and awake that the music becomes richer... almost three dimensional.
16) I work at listening and forgiving. Both are difficult at times, but worth the effort. My goal is to encourage people to always be themselves around me. The world already judges and dismisses us in many ways, so my hope is to not personally contribute to those feelings. Let's just say I'm better at listening than forgiving.
