Sorry for tagging a bunch of random people and writing too much! I was tagging certain people and then random people. Oh and I promise it's a quick read and an even quicker skim ;]

So I have been tagged.... 5 times? Ah, idk. But anyways, finally getting to that! This picture is an outtake from this day. I just now edited it.

Uhm... well how about a TON of facts (just to make up for all the tags I've missed).

1. Right now I'm listening to Eyes as Candles by Passion Pit. I love this song.

2. I just discovered the band Broken Bells a day or so ago, liking them very much.

3. I wish I had blue eyes (hence the edited eye color.. hehe.). I was born with and grew up with blue eyes, (but occasionally they'd be green) but now they're green. All the time. :P

4. Yoplait makes this yogurt flavor called "Blueberry Pie" and it seriously tastes like blueberry pie. Seriously. It's eerily spot-on.

5. My retainer tastes minty. I soaked it in listerine XD

6. I'm. So. Tired.

7. My ceiling is covered in glow-in-the-dark stuff. Colored glitter stars, regular stars, shooting stars, planets, and some glow-in-the-dark spiders suspended from the ceiling.

8. Also on my ceiling is the main light for my room. I replaced the bulbs with blacklights.

9. I think it would be cool to learn French or Sweedish.

10. I'm obsessed with juice. Apple, grape, cranberry, any kind. Especially fruit punch.

11. Fact 10 just made me thirsty.

12. My head hurts! D:

13. I finished up two rolls of film today. Ahhhh I want to get them developed!

14. It's 12AM! No wonder I'm so tired.

15. I like Skype. Er.. Skyping. Hey! Cool verb.

16. I am attempting to change my vocabulary by adding in "rad", "groovy", "ahoy", etc. They're random words but I like them.

17. The shirt I'm wearing in the picture is from Goodwill. It was just a really big Eddie Bauer shirt in like womens XL and I stretched out the colar. Woopdedoop.

18. My facts are so random! Ahhh. I have a lava lamp on my desk. It's blue and green.

19. I have like 2 billion of those stupid "Silly Bandz" thingies. I keep getting them from random sources! XD

20. My head stopped hurting! But now I'm hungry..

21... Is the legal drinking age.

22. Now I'm listening to The Ghost Inside by Broken Bells. OH it just ended. Now it's... The High Road, also by Broken Bells. This song starts out rather weirdly.

23. My friend is getting a Diana! AGH I'm so going to borrow it! :D (lol I wonder what he'll be thinking when he reads this XD)

24. Uhhhmm... I'm running out of facts! Uhh... I hate feet! They're GROSS.

25. Woah! The time is 12:34. That's cool. Ahhhahah nobody is going to read all this XD

26. I need a haircut.

27. I used to be obsessed with this anime called Gintama. It's funny though!

28. I like to make bracelets and dream catchers.

29. I really want to turn my closet into a darkroom.

30. I'm wearing a pirate hat. (And I only put it on so I could type that and be done with my facts)

DONE with facts.

Now, since I'm bored, I'm going to list 5 songs I really like.

I Want You - Kings of Leon

Tiny Vessels - Death Cab for Cutie

Happiness is a Warm Gun - The Beatles

Sunny Afternoon - The Kinks

Vaporize - Broken Bells

THE END.

I'm so tired.

On This Date: Photo taken 3/7/2012.

Hoytville's a collection of houses--a hamlet, if you would--a mile south of my town, Mulliken. I discussed its history on 3/7/2013, if you're interested.

==========

This farmyard's a bit over a mile from our house, and is visible (after a fashion) from our yard. The house is quite striking, especially in the late-afternoon sun. There are a couple other photographs I'd like to take of it, both of which would take some luck and a long lens. Since I don't routinely wander around with my long lens, they'd necessarily be planned photographs. Someday, perhaps.

This is one of a half-dozen similar photographs I took that morning. The framing changed a bit as I moved closer to the house, but they all have the same look and feel.

And please note that the photo's two rightmost barns are part of another farm, a few hundred yards down the road. Perspective can mislead.

Number of pix taken on various March 7ths: 130

I’ve been tagged by Brian/Jane Finney.

So here are 16 random things about me.

1. I really do enjoy flickr

2. I’ve been married for over 17 years

3. I’m a qualified chainsaw operator

4. I used to bread African cichlids

5. I have helped to hand rear Sheep, Cows, Goats Hedgehogs and a Tawny Owl.

6. Also I have worked with a Timber Wolf hybrid, a Wild Boar, and Thoroughbred horses.

7. In the past I have flown a plane and done paragliding.

8. I like to read when I have the time.

9. I love walking

10. The favourite TV show is heroes

11. My star sign is Cancer.

12. I love cooking , baking and making my own sweets.

13. I love being outside.

14. I’m hyposensitive to sunlight

15. I drink to much coffee.

16.My sons mean more to me than anything else

Yes, my patient friends, day three of the wild pond iris extravaganza. Placed in the third spot for good reason as I far prefer the other two series. Nevertheless, I appreciate your forbearance and assure you this will be the finale in this sequence...maybe. But at least these were yellow and I have reached the saturation point (get it? very photographic, don't you think?) with fiddling for now, so gather ye irisbuds while ye may. Who knows, I might post another self-portrait and then you'd really be disturbed.

This has really been an experiment in what can be done with the same image...really remarkable and I haven't even touched the surface. Aside from the fact that I have yet to fully reconcile my feeling about photography/art, two drawbacks to this capability exist, at least for me: 1) I can envision processing a single photo to my death, wondering how one more "touch" will look; 2) I now save every bad shot just in case something can be done to "save" it. My delete button sees far less activity than it did previously, tho intellectually I know I will never get to those saved images.

That said, it is fun to a point and provides a further appreciation and a bit of insight as to how some of the marvelous works presented by my contacts and others are created.

{Ed. Note: The titles on this series should not be misconstrued to have any relationship to Yoko or her family}

[These, like the two previous series, also fare well on black]

I bought these today, because I just can't resist a pair of snuggly socks. They are the best thing in the winter.

This isn't my duvet in the picture, it's the spare one. But I think it's gorgeous, so I used it :D My new cover, for my new bed that is, is pale blue with pink flowers on (: When I get it set up, I'll take pictures on it.

Oh, please excuse the nasty cellulite on my thighs. Cheese and dairy is my downfall.

Anywways, I got my A-level results today. Which is why I'm taking a photo, despite the fact it's now dark out and the lighting is crappp.

I got an A in photography, a B in Art and Design, and a D in English Language. Which i'm pretty chuffed with.

It also means I got into AUCB, but that wasn't hard - i only needed an E in any subject to get a place on the foundation diploma course. But still, that A means I can apply for Oxford once i'm done with my diploma :D

Oh yess, I got tagged.

1) I'm a cross between excited and nervous for uni.

2) I'm nervous because of the whole moving out thing, so much to sort out etc.

3) I'm excited because this course isn't going to be completely ACE.

4) It's going to be strange waking up in my new house without Lauren there, or mum nagging us to feed the animals.

5) it's going to be really sad without my kitties.

6) But art is going to be funnn.

7) I think it's thunderstorming outside.

8) I love thunderstorms. We don't get them often, here. Just rain.

9) But that's British weather for you.

10) SNUGGLY SOCKKKSSS <3

I loved the interior lighting with the cloud reflections all over the shot. This may be a bit too busy ...

Macro Mondays - Just Texture

Kitchen scourers part 2 - I'd been eyeing these for a while - Max Rock n' Roll. Quite striking considering their lifestyle choices!

You'll never hear me complain about paint on an SD40-2. I don't care about who owns it, where it is, or condition it's in, I've never met one that scoffed at having its picture taken.

Hello everyone!! I usually don't do these "tagged" things, but i've been tagged about 20 times in the past few weeks so I figured that i might as well do one to please everyone!

4. I go to a school where people have range rovers and where the dress code is not enforced... people call it the "rich" school... but not everyone is rich!

5. i love my macbook pro.

6. It has a pink case on it with snoopy on it

7. I made the snoopy... it is a sticker

8. I took pre-calculus this year as a sophomore

9. My dogs name is snoopy and I call my cat kitty lol. I will say I am a little obsessed with snoopy.

10.I love high waisted shorts, but I cannot seem to find any that aren't super duper short.

I would like to wish everyone a fantastic 2009!

Lenny up to no good, but with a smile on his face !!

That's correct, this is my very last TS2 edit. It's old though, not something recent. That would be difficult as I have lost most of my sims, got fed up, uninstalled the game and sold it on eBay. That's right, I am over with the Sims 2. I guess I just ended up outgrowing it. Edits weren't fun anymore and starting the game felt like a chore, so that's over for me.

For the very few at Scribblers that might read Miracle Court, not quitting that. It's on a slow curb at the moment due to busy real lives but that would be pretty much it.

For the while it lasted, it was good, and got to know a lot of awesome people I will miss, but at 27, I think I just outgrew the game or something. Either that or overdosed it, lol. Thanks to everyone that was supportive throughout, and if my msn still worked I'd still go there if I could. To the selected few with my Skype, you can still find me there, just leave a message, its always on but I'm afk most of the time.

For the image, this was to be an add in Pop&Soda.... don't know if the issue is still coming out but there is my work, with my boys, Lucas, Randem and Keith, lounging about and promoting some Club Crimsym wear.

If you zoom in you can see the teeny tiny seed he is holding in the tip of his beak.

I would put it somewhere around 33:00 in the film

I do swear that I'll always be there.

I'd give anything and everything and I will always care.

Through weakness and strength, happiness and sorrow,

for better for worse, I will love you with every beat of my heart.

From this moment life has begun

From this moment you are the one

Right beside you is where I belong

From this moment on

From this moment I have been blessed

I live only for your happiness

And for your love I'd give my last breath

From this moment on

I give my hand to you with all my heart

Can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start

You and I will never be apart

My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live

I will love you, I promise you this

There is nothing I wouldn't give

From this moment on

You're the reason I believe in love

And you're the answer to my prayers from up above

All we need is just the two of us

My dreams came true because of you

Dedicated to my husband.......

A friend of ours here at MonteCedro, also a retired Navy Captain, has collected rare books over many years. This is the title page of The Morals by Plutarch, the Greek philosopher and historian of the 1st century CE, published in 1603 in London. Note the signature of Samuel Powel, the mayor of Philadelphia and an early member of the American Philosophical Society, founded by Benjamin Franklin. His neighbor in. Philadelphia was George Washington in 1781-2. I wondered if Washington and Franklin had an opportunity to read this very book. Powel died in 1793 during the yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia.

MANY PLACES MAY HIDE SECRETS

When I visited Croome Court I enjoyed both the exterior and the interior and I remebered part of my own Story.

1. My mother's choice of secondary school was École gréco-française des Ursulines

2. I have lived 5 years in Birmingham as a University student and I always have nice memories about my life in the City and England in General.

I graduated a couple of years after the School at Croome was closed and was unaware of what had been going on until my visit in December 2019.

In one of the rooms there was a memorabilia exhibition of the ex-students and infromation about the life in the School.

Come clean on mansion’s dark past, Trust told

Abuse inquiry lawyers say ‘glowing’ references to schoolboy pranks and cycle rides cover up truth

Lunch in the Long Gallery, left, when Croome Court, right, was St Joseph’s Special School

It is promoted by the National Trust as a triumph of restoration. But lawyers acting for victims of child sexual abuse are asking Croome Court to come clean about its “ugly” history when it was run as a Catholic boarding school.

Visitors to the Worcestershire stately home are told the one-time residence of the Earl of Coventry has many distinguished features, including the gardens designed by Capability Brown.

Although the Trust’s website says Croome Court was once used as a school, the descriptions are lighthearted: “When the nuns weren’t looking, some of the boys used the dumb waiter as a lift to the ground floor with contraband biscuits.”

It also recalls: “In 1962, during the school’s tenure, a section of the M5 was built, slicing through the Croome estate. Four boys tried to escape from Croome on bicycles on the M5 and were brought back by the police.”

Lawyers at the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse claim the incident hides a disturbing truth: the boys were trying to escape beatings from the nuns and sexual assaults by teachers and priests at the special needs school, run by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham.

The lawyers are calling on the Trust not to play down this period in the building’s history. On Thursday, during the final day of evidence into the archdiocese, Caoilfhionn Gallagher QC spoke of Croome Court’s “ugly history” and criticised the Trust’s depiction of “a very glowing background”. She asked that the inquiry, headed by Professor Alexis Jay, recommend that the Trust and archdiocese work together with survivors to acknowledge what really happened at Croome Court.

Among those whose stories of abuse at Croome Court were told to the inquiry was victim D2 who was regularly beaten, including by one religious sister known as “the karate nun” because of the way she would kick children.

John Wakefield, D2’s solicitor, said: “The description of Croome Court’s schooldays on the Trust’s website really grates with my client. Its history is undoubtedly known to the Trust, as what was endured by those pupils is on public record. They are ignoring it.

“While the National Trust is not responsible for the abuse, this gives the impression they are complicit with the archdiocese in covering it up because they think it will cause reputational damage. Protecting reputations has been a common theme at the inquiry.” He said Vincent Nichols, the Archbishop of Birmingham at the time and now Cardinal Archbishop of Westmin- ster, had twice ignored letters from and on behalf of D2 requesting an apology.

Croome Court was sold to the archdiocese in 1948 and it became a boarding school for 140 boys aged 7 to 11, eventually closing in 1979.

Some victims of the abuse took decades to speak out and one attempted suicide, the inquiry heard. Last night the Trust, which has received lottery grants for an oral history of Croome Court, said: “We already (and have for many years) worked with ex-pupils at Croome and continue to do so.

“The National Trust has not played any part in this hearing as it deals with matters prior to our involvement.”

Peebles (Scottish Gaelic: Na Pùballan) is a royal burgh in Tweeddale (of which it is the county town), within the Scottish Borders region. According to the 2001 Census, the population was 8,159. The local brewery is Broughton Ales which you find their cask, bottle and keg beers available throughout the town. Broughton Ales produces many popular beers, including "Old Jock Ale, Dark Dunter, 6.2 I.P.A., Proper I.P.A., Greenmantle Ale, Hopopotamus, Merlin, Black Douglas, Scottish Oatmeal Stout and Greenmantle".

Initially a market town, Peebles played a role in the woollen industry of the Borders up until the 1960s. Although one woollen mill remains operational in the town, the industrial composition of Peebles has changed; the town is now home to many people who commute to work in Edinburgh, as well as being a popular tourist destination, especially in the summer. In the mid-to-late 19th century, this included health tourism, centring around hydropathic establishments, which over time morphed into a hotel format, with Peebles Hydro Hotel being one of the few survivors of that era. Notable buildings in the town include the Old Parish Church of Peebles and Neidpath Castle. Other local attractions include a museum and the Kailzie Gardens. Peebles has the highest shoe shop to population ratio in the UK.[citation needed] It has won multiple awards for an excellent range of shops on its High Street.

it's so rusty I picked it up for $2

I think it's beautiful.

Macaron is so excited for all the Valentines candy!!!

Crazy traffic on this pic lately.. it's an old over the top HDR.. I really don't like it anymore. Got much better pics but hey. Enjoy!

Hmm what would this other building pic be without a hdr makeover?

I would have love to see someone go into this shot on the lower right side but they all feared for their souls to be frozen into my Lumix L10... So i had to compensate with a more pushed tonemap look!! : )

There is no mixing true HDR and single Raw HDR or 2 different HDR here. It's from 3 pics once more. -2, 0, +2 as usual.

Thanks all for the feedback!! I haven't got time for photography lately so what do i do.. i post old pics that have never seen the light!! : )

Even if i wish for the composition to be a bit more complete on future pics i had great feedback from a few friends and contacts about my workflow on dynamic range images and i'm very happy about that. Espacially when it comes from others that have grately inspired me through the last year or so!!

I've tried many ways to process pics to get a natural yet pushed tonemapping!! I've mixed single raw and normal (numerous diferently exposed photos) hdr pics but it never looked quite "natural".

So i've found that i should spend less time in Photomatix and more in Photoshop.

So here is a bit of my workflow:

1-First i take at least 3 photos making sure the lowest value pic doesn't have burned highlights and in the highest value that the shadows become midtones. To try and get plenty of details in every area of the pic.

2-I blend those 3 unmodified RAW photos in Photomatix.

There is no specific recipe there but here is the one i used for this photo:

Strength: 90 - Saturation: 75 - Luminosity: 10 - Smoothing: the middle button (but i usually use a higher smoothing so halos don't appear).

Micro-contrast: 10 - White point: around 3 - Black point: around 0.2 - Gamma: 1,25 - Micro-smoothing: 8.

I leave the rest for Photoshop.

3-In Photoshop it always depend on the photo so for this one i did the following things:

The image came a bit underexposed from Photomatix but that way i didn't get halos and burned highlights so:

Shadows and Highlights:

In Shadows: Amount: 3.

Levels: RGB mode: 4 - 1,05 - 249

Brightness and contrast: Brightness: 3

After that i applied a curve cause i wasn't quite happy with the contrast but the photo was a lot brighter.

A apllied a Curves layer: Linear contrast (presets) at 50% of opacity.

Filter: Sharpen: Unsharp Mask: Amount: 60 - Radius: 15 - Threshold: 10

I played with Hue and Saturation with the "Blues" to get a darker sky and "Yellows" for the color of buildings.

Did some dodging on the buildings so it would be a bit brighter and to increase the contrast with the sky.

Applied a Noise reducer plugin (Imagenomic-Noiseware Pro).

Did a bit of lassoing to reduce those parts with too much "Cyan" around the buildings.

Finally i used a Nik Color Efex Pro plugin/Tonal Contrast to boost the tonemapping and sharpness without creating halos.

I don't remember the exact amount but i applied it on a different layer and reduced the opacity around 25%.

So that's about 95% of this shot.

That may seem a lot for those who only blend into Photomatix but it took me around 20 minutes.

The before and after results are really worth it!!

Cheers!!! Hope this comes in handy to someone!! : )

The countdown. We readied our jetpacks, checked our weapons, grabbed a few ammo clips. And then we were told to plunge in the deep darkness of the Tarisian Undercity. "Alright, men, get ready. Voché, pop the hatch!" 3..... The hatch opened, and we got our first view on the wreck that was once a city.... 2..... I slowly walked to the edge..... 1..... "Drop!" I relaxed all my muscles, and dropped down in a mind boggling free fall.

Brakes, the idiot, thought he'd be cool if he would do some skydiving tricks. Well, what goes around comes around. A clone from another platoon got hit nearby, and the explosion that followed threw Brakes off course, interrupting his current looping. I don't know where he landed, but I'm sure he'll be fine. Hatch thought it was smart to disobey my command and go after him, so know I have to do it with two men less. Well, I think I'm better off without those guys anyway.

After we landed, the search started. We had to get to some kind of river and await the Destroyers there. I had left Trev to cover our six, in case the Seps had dispatched more droids to assist the Destroyer team. We started picking them off one by one. But after four of those things, we got to a new part of the area, a little further down. As we entered, a Droideka suddenly 'appeared' right in front of me. While I finished it, out of nowhere we were under fire. Perfect...

"Ambush, ambush!" "Copper, get down here! Everyone, find cover!" "This place is a fuckin' death trap!" "Shut it, Carter!" "Sir, I see them!" "What do you see, Copper?" "The snipers!" "What snipers?" "Droideka snipers." "Retreat, retreat! Did you say Droideka snipers ? Seriously?" "Sir I recommend we call for assistance!" "Good idea, Voché."

Dec 12, 2008 #444 on Explore...

Hello all my friends....very sorry for my absence over the past 2 weeks or so..have been really busy in life and had no time for flickr.

actually there are a few reasons for my absence..one..is my husband has been using my lap-top leaving me very little time ...and by the time I can use my computor I am usually too tired...

2. I have joined a gym and having been spending my free time there..need to get away from flickr as I have been spending too much time and it is far too addictive..as many of you know..

3. needed a change of lifestyle as spending too much time in front of this computor is not good for ones health..mental and phyiscal..

4. have been in Cirali for the past 5 days over the Kurban bayram holiday..

This photo was taken the other night...and I did not have my 300mm zoom or tripod...also that night I witnessed a halo effect around the moon...unfortunately I was not able to get a photo of this awesome sight...and as quickly as we saw it ...it had dissapeared in the same way..

Moon Ring Weather Folklore

Folklore has it that a ring around the moon signifies bad weather is coming, and in many cases this may be true. So how can rings around the moon be a predictor of weather to come? The ice crystals that cover the halo signify high altitude, thin cirrus clouds that normally precede a warm front by one or two days. Typically, a warm front will be associated with a low pressure system which is commonly referred to as a storm.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_(optical_phenomenon)

A halo (ἅλως; also known as a nimbus, icebow or Gloriole) is an optical phenomenon that appears near or around the Sun or Moon, and sometimes near other strong light sources such as street lights. There are many types of optical halos, but they are mostly caused by ice crystals in cold cirrus clouds located high (5–10 km, or 3–6 miles) in the upper troposphere. The particular shape and orientation of the crystals is responsible for the type of halo observed. Light is reflected and refracted by the ice crystals and may split up into colors because of dispersion, similarly to the rainbow.

Sometimes in very cold weather optical halos are formed by crystals close to ground level, called diamond dust. The crystals behave like jewels, refracting and reflecting sunlight between their faces, sending shafts of light in particular directions.

Atmospheric phenomena such as halos were used as an empirical means of weather forecasting before meteorology was developed.

Other common optical phenomena involving water droplets rather than ice crystals include the glory and the rainbow.

I was scrambling for a shot tonight and nothing was working out. As I was thinking, I caught myself looking at my phone at flickr to see what was going on. So, I decided to do a "self-portrait" of what I was up to at the time in order to get something photographed before midnight. I guess some days are just like that when you're doing a Project 365. This one isn't my favorite, but it definitely shows a piece of my day.

This shot actually may be more interesting from a technical standpoint than it is visually. My setup/thought process was as follows: (1) Light the phone/hand - I setup an SB-600 through a lightbox camera left and above (close in for a big, soft light source). I had to make sure to hold the phone in a way that the screen didn't reflect the light back at the camera. Once I had that the way I wanted it, I moved on to the background. (2) I setup the pieces of crumpled tinfoil from the other night in the background and aimed a green gelled SB-600 at the tinfoil. I adjusted the light until I liked the balance between the hand/phone and background. I also tweaked with the aperture to adjust the size of the bokeh (which forced me to adjust both flashes in equal proportions to the aperture adjustments). (3) Once the "strobed" portions of the scene were set, I worked on getting the screen of the iphone to photograph properly. I did this by adjusting the shutter speed -- which does not affect your "strobed" portions of the scene. Basically, I slowed down the shutter speed until it was open long enough to let the light from the screen "burn in" and balance with the flashes. I was working in a dark room, so ambient was not a factor. There you have it. Also, I used auto-focus, which was easy here because the screen was the only light, so the autofocus saw only screen light and focused on it.
