19. un 20. aprīlī darba vizītē Latvijā uzturās Polijas bruņoto spēku komandieris ģenerālis Lešeks Suravskis (Leszek Surawski), lai tiktos ar aizsardzības ministru Raimondu Bergmani un Nacionālo bruņoto spēku komandieri ģenerālleitnantu Leonīdu Kalniņu un pārrunātu Latvijas un Polijas divpusējo sadarbību aizsardzības jomā, kā arī ar NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes Latvijā kaujas grupu saistītus jautājumus.
19.aprīlī, godinot kritušo karavīru piemiņu, ģenerālis L.Suravskis piedalījās svinīgajā ziedu nolikšanas ceremonijā Rīgas Brāļu kapos.
20. aprīlī vizītes laikā Polijas bruņoto spēku komandieris apmeklēja Ādažu bāzi un iepazinās ar Sauszemes spēku Mehanizētās kājnieku brigādes spējām un uzdevumiem, kā arī tiksies ar NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes Latvijā kaujas grupas Polijas kontingenta karavīriem, lai pārrunātu viņu dienesta gaitu Latvijā.
Dalībai NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes kaujas grupā Polija uz Latviju nosūtījusi vienu tanku rotu ar atbalsta elementiem vairāk nekā 160 karavīru sastāvā, kā arī tankus MBT PT– 91.
Jau ziņots, ka 2016. gada NATO samitā Varšavā NATO valstu un valdību vadītāji apstiprināja vienošanos par daudznacionālo bataljona līmeņa kaujas grupu izvietošanu Baltijas valstīs un Polijā. Kaujas grupu izveides un izvietošanas mērķis ir veicināt NATO īstenoto atturēšanu un stiprināt alianses aizsardzību, demonstrējot alianses solidaritāti un apņēmību aizstāvēt aliansi pret jebkāda veida agresijas izpausmēm. Savukārt 2017. gada 19. jūnijā Ādažu bāzē notika svinīgā NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes Latvijā kaujas grupas sagaidīšanas ceremonija.
Daudznacionālo kaujas grupu Latvijā vada Kanāda, un to veido vairāk nekā 1000 karavīru no Albānijas, Itālijas, Polijas, Kanādas, Slovēnijas un Spānijas, kas rotācijas kārtībā pilda dienesta pienākumus Latvijā, piedaloties mācībās ar Nacionālajiem bruņotajiem spēkiem, tādējādi uzlabojot savietojamību ar reģionālajiem sabiedrotajiem, lai spētu reaģēt uz drošības vides izaicinājumiem.
Šogad NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes Latvijā kaujas grupu papildinās arī Čehija un Slovākija.

Nicole and Sarah( stranger #18 ), were doing some promotions' work at a supermarket today.
I explained that I wanted to take their pictures for a photography project and handed out my MOO card.
At first , they thought that I wanted a picture of them both together, but then I explained that I wanted portraits of them on their own. In retrospect, I should have taken one of them both together as well. Something to remember for another time.
Nicole was giggling to start off with and covering her mouth with her hand, but soon relaxed and showed off her lovely smile.
Thanks for being my 19th stranger, Nicole. I hope you like your picture.

No dia 19 de Abril é comemorado o dia do Índio no Brasil. A data foi criada pelo presidente Getúlio Vargas em 1943.
Origem do Dia do Índio
O dia 19 de abril é lembrado como dia do Índio, devido a um acontecimento ocorrido em 1949 no México, no qual diversas lideranças indígenas resolveram participar do Primeiro Congresso Indigenista Interamericano.
Preocupados que suas reivindicações não fossem ouvidas pelos “homens brancos” no congressos os indígenas não compareceram nos primeiros dias do evento. Durante o evento foi criado o Instituto Indigenista Interamericano, que tem como objetivo principal cuidar dos direitos dos indígenas na América. O Brasil não aderiu imediatamente ao instituto, mas após a intervenção do Marechal Rondon apresentou sua adesão e instituiu o Dia do Índio no dia 19 de abril.

On April 19 is celebrated the day of the Indian in Brazil. The date was established by President Getúlio Vargas in 1943.
Origin of the Day of the Indian
The day April 19 is remembered as a day of India, due to an event occurred in 1949 in Mexico, where several indigenous leaders resolved part of the First Indian Congress Inter.
Concerned that their demands were not heard by the "white men" as the natives did not attend conferences in the early days of the event. During the event was the Indian Institute Inter, which main goal is to look after the rights of indigenous peoples in America. Brazil has not joined immediately to the institute, but after the intervention of the Marechal Rondon had its membership and established the Indian Day on April 19.

Why???
Apparently its to make you think thus making you more aware of the sign. Well yes i suppose it does do that but surely these signs come at a cost as no other town is stupid enough to have 19 MPH as their speed limit. and Especially when there's no end of 20 signs lying around. It's basically some Cambridge graduate being clever and some idiot agreeing to it.
