The word 'paint' contains the word 'pain', and lately RB 18 and 19 have been a right pain in the, err, Dart. Even after several coats of white and green, the old livery was still visible through! After a long wait, 19 finally got finished, but as it was supposed to enter service a long time ago I thought it would be too much time to waste making the graphics too, so as a compromise it's just entered service like this and the graphics will be done in due course. Also, I don't yet have a square number plate for the rear so there's a rectangular one slapped on to the engine door with a little light above it so it is lit at night. Eventually I will get round to getting proper number plates, graphics and fleet numbers.
she planned another beach day. i was encouraged at the gym by kristin, the stinker, who i admire and taught me the ways of super silvers. they hopped in the hot tub and we stayed for dinner as the potatoes cooked (to perfection) we threw in a thirteen minute photo walk for good measure...the fog called for it, rolling in fast and soupy.
I've had quite a sociable day today. I could have photographed Hugo the pheasant, gingerbread men, Belgian buns, or any of the people with whom I chatted (and chuckled). But no, I didn't have a camera to hand; so instead you've got a rose from a vase on the kitchen windowsill. C'est la vie.

Lors de mon dernier voyage en Italie, j’ai pensé vous rapporter des photos pleines de couleurs et de soleil. Malheureusement il n’y a eu que de la pluie, toutes mes photos ont été prises sous la pluie avec l'aide de mon assistant (le bras gauche) qui tenait le parapluie et moi qui mitraillé toute la grisaille, mais j’ai décidé également de les partager avec vous.
Durante l’ultimo mio viaggio in Italia ho pensato di far delle foto piene di sole e di colori; sfortunatamente ha piovuto durante tutto il mio soggiorno, Tutte le foto sono state prese sotto la pioggia con l’aiuto del mio assistente (il braccio sinistro) che teneva l’ombrello mentre mitragliavo tutto il grigio che era nell’atmosfera, ma ho deciso, malgrato tutto, di dividerle con voi.

As the Soviets surround the capital of the Großdeutsches Reich, Berlin, the German defenders, Wehrmacht, SS, and civilians alike are making the final preparations for what will become one of the deadliest battles in the history of warfare. Not even the walking wounded are spared from the carnage.
“The war is nearly over. Everyone feels it, I know, but nobody voices it. Being a tank commander in a city is absolute hell, I must say. Everywhere you go there is risk of a sniper perched in an apartment building, ready to blow your brains out. The SS soldiers show nothing but ferocity. Fools, I say. Death is not something they fear, but they fear the possibility of failure. Damn fanatics. They've been rounding up anyone who makes a defeatist comment.”
I’m sort of surprised no one has asked about the swans. Their eggs failed this year. A neighbor said the female sat and sat and sat on the nest, long after the eggs should have hatched. They both look worse for the wear but at least they’re moving about the lake and feeding again.
I had to sit down on the wet grass to get the angle I wanted on this shot. A few months ago, I’d been viewing “what’s in the camera bag” videos and saw a guy that carried a waterproof cloth with him for just such occasions. I’ve been carrying one ever since. I got a black one (actually it’s a ground cloth for a single-person tent) to use as an old-fashioned cloth hood to hide under when I’m trying to see the review screen in the middle of the day. I can’t recommend that specific idea but I couldn’t bear the thought of being under black plastic in the Georgia sunshine. So, I like the waterproof. I like the cloth. But the long shape of a tent ground cloth is all wrong (even if it is a good, packable size). I’ll keep searching for a suitable shape and size.
