From the name Sheffield Park, you might assume that this was in Sheffield. It is, but it's not the one famous for its steel.
This is Sheffield Park Garden in East Sussex, which is not a million miles away from the seaside town of Brighton.
Sheffield Park Garden has some excellent autumn foliage, and is also home to one of the national Azalea collections; so it's particularly pretty in both spring and autumn.
The garden was designed by Lancelot "Capability" Brown an internationally renowned landscape gardener from the eighteenth century.
Tech:
Canon EOS 400D (aka Digital Rebel XTi), Canon EF-S 10-22.
Three exposures (0+/-2), centred at f4.5 @ 1/45th ISO100
3xRAW converted to 16bit TIFF and CA corrected with DPP, HDR and ToneMapping in Photomatix, final contrast and sharpening in Photoshop CS2.
N.B image replaced Sep09 to correct a minor colour cast.
Test shot-unprocessed. Shot at f/6.3 1/200 ISO 100 focal range; 29mm
This is as unprocessed, "out of camera" as I can make it. Brought into Photoshop as 16-bit Smart Object. Saved as: jpg (8-bit) for upload.
* Not as sharp as I would have liked (or had expected). If I were to process this image, I would most likely apply a bit of Unsharp Mask sharpening. (or alternately use Topaz Detail - lowest setting).

Another one from the archives....didnt like the exposure on the original..so decided that it might be a good candidate for some extreme HDR(not usually a fan of the much hyped extreme effects of HDR but oh well) and some extreme post processing...im not sure what ive done with this image..all i can say is i have post processed the crap out of it to make it look a little interesting..hope u like it...

The story of this photo:
Today, I am posting a photo that is a bit more abstract than normal... well, a lot more abstract. I shot this in a staircase in the Bardo museum in Tunis, Tunisia. I think the interplay between light and shadow is really nice, and I tried to enhance it even more in post-processing. I tried to avoid noise as much as possible, so this is an exposure fusion, not an HDR. Also, these are not the natural tones in this place. The original color was white. I added the golden tones in post-processing for no particular reason other than I think it looks nice. So don't travel to Tunis and search for it, you may not find it. ;-)

The story of this photo:
This was shot as we slowly floated into the harbor of Palermo, Italy on the AIDAbella cruise ship. When I was shooting this, I was bracketing the shot as usual. But I did not think that I would get these shots aligned properly as there was a parallax effect since I was moving. I was quite surprised that Photomatix somehow managed to cope with this. This is another proof for my most important rule: Always bracket, no matter what! :-)

I ran the 112 images in Helicon Focus using 3 Methods. C,A,B (Depth Map)
I then saved them out as 16bit tiff files and reopened in Helicon Focus again to run the 3 tiffs using Method B (Depth Map)
I find that method sometimes picks up noticeably more detail.
I only post this info in hopes to help not overwhelm newbies.

The story of this photo:
This is a Mausoleum built on the Württemberg mountain. It was commissioned by William II of Württemberg for his wife Katharina. The interesting thing is that the King had Wirtemberg Castle removed in 1819 from that very place in order to build this Mausoleum. Obviously he loved his Queen very much.
On a technical note: This is my first vertorama upload that was created from 4 individually stitched vertoramas (one for each EV and an additional one with -4EV created with Adobe Camera RAW). Stitching the 32-bit files in Photoshop led to a massive loss of details again. Stitching the tone-mapped images resulted in very uneven lighting and color. Therefore, I had to do things differently here.

How it was shot:

> 4x3 autobracketed shots (three exposures each, with 0, -2, +2 ev)

How it was stitched and tonemapped:
> Converted the RAWs to TIFFs using Adobe Camera RAW with the Five TIFFs method
> Stitched one vertorama for each EV in Photoshop
> Aligned and cropped the vertoramas in Photoshop
> Merged and tone-mapped the resulting vertoramas using Photomatix Pro 4.0 (Detail Enhancer)
> Saved the images as 16bit TIFFs
How it was post-processed:
> Post-processing was done in Photoshop
> Slight perspective correction and cropping
> Topaz Adjust on the entire image to get back the colors and the details [details]
> Topaz Denoise (more aggressively on some parts) [details]
> Topaz Infocus on the entire image for sharpening
> Corrected some uneven lighting and colors in the dome using a saturation and a levels layer masked accordingly
> Saturation layer on the white walls (slight desaturation)
> Saturation layer on the floor (master)
> Levels layer on the floor (more contrast)
> Vignette effect using a masked fill layer [details]
> Sharpening using the high-pass filter [details]
> Watermarking
