This is an 1891 Morgan Silver Dollar - note that is bears 13 stars for the 13 original colonies. In 1891 Wyoming was added as the 44th US state.
Interestingly, note that they are 6 pointed stars, unlike the 5 pointed stars on the US flag. The five-pointed star which, in the traditional language of heraldry, is known as a mullet. Strictly speaking, in heraldry only the six-pointed depiction may be called a star, yet both variants have been used interchangeably on United States coinage. In American numismatics the mullet is sometimes referred to as an American star, while the six-pointed version is described as an English star.

Este lugar es conocido internacionalmente por ser el lugar de residencia de Salvador Dalí. En lo que fue su casa hoy se puede visitar la Casa Museo Salvador Dalí. Salvador Dalí vivió en esa casa que él mismo diseñó, a pocas horas al norte de Barcelona, en la región de la Costa Brava. Dalí vivió aquí desde 1930 hasta la muerte de Gala, su esposa en 1982, y la colección un tanto incoherente de tres cabañas de pescadores es ahora un museo que ofrece un pequeño vistazo a su vida única.
Dalí fue citado diciendo que el sol se levantaba sobre su cama antes que en cualquier otro lugar en España, ya que él ponía su cabeza hacia abajo hacia el punto más oriental de España (se refería a la España peninsular, el punto más oriental de España se halla en la isla de Menorca). Ideó un sistema múltiple de espejos ingenioso para que los primeros rayos de sol de la mañana le dieran directamente en la casa.

After being out all day in freezing conditions last week I was ill all this week, making any conversation at work almost impossible by sneezing every 4 minutes. But I recovered in time for the weekend and went to visit other ill people in hospitals on Saturday and then went on my next 3-hour run on Sunday with actual spring-like weather. So spring-like that I now have my first running shorts tan lines that will never go away despite being ever so faint.

Each fish painting (all done in Photoshop using a mouse) is based on a fish found in nature. Of course you would never find this assortment of fish all in the same environment since some are salt water and others fresh water dwellers. Nevertheless, they live happily together in my ichthyological fantasy ;-).

The Pannonian Plain is a large plain in Central Europe that remained when the Pliocene Pannonian Sea dried out. It is a geomorphological subsystem of the Alps-Himalaya system.
The river Danube divides the plain roughly in half.
The plain is divided among Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
The plain is roughly bounded by the Carpathian mountains, the Alps, the Dinaric Alps and the Balkan mountains.
Although rain is not plentiful, it usually falls when necessary and the plain is a major agricultural area; it is sometimes said that these fields of rich loamy loess soil could feed the whole of Europe. For its early settlers, the plain offered few sources of metals or stone. Thus when archaeologists come upon objects of obsidian or chert, copper or gold, they have almost unparalleled opportunities to interpret ancient pathways of trade.
The precursor to the present plain was a shallow sea that reached its greatest extent during the Pliocene, when three to four kilometres of sediments were deposited.
The plain was named after the Pannonians, a northern Illyrian tribe. Various different peoples inhabited the plain during its history. In the first century BC, the eastern parts of the plain belonged to the Dacian state, and in the first century AD its western parts were subsumed into the Roman Empire. The Roman province named Pannonia was established in the area, and the city of Sirmium, today Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia, became one of the four capital cities of the Roman Empire in the 3rd century.
Out in the woods on a beautiful spring afternoon... I took this on Monday & after reading that the prime minister was making an announcement related to the current pandemic later that evening, I was worried it might be Flynn's last outing for weeks, or potentially months. For Flynn's sake, I am so relieved that, at least for now, we can still go out for 1 form of exercise... I only hope these measures are enough & we don't need further restrictions.
The local footpaths are actually quite busy now the "lockdown" is in place - lots of new joggers, cyclists & families out & about. Having a dog who I've been taking for "social distancing" walks for years is finally coming in handy though! Flynn's generally indifferent to most strangers (human & canine) but he *can* be nervy & occasionally grumpy with big bouncy dogs, so I've always tended to err on the side of caution & tried to avoid directly crossing paths with anyone. I know all the quieter routes already & have got pretty good at spotting people coming from a long way off - if I don't notice them, Flynn lets me know, giving us time to dart away & "hide"!
Tried to get rid of the fence but it's not going. That serves me right for being too lazy to get out the car and get a better shot! (in my defense, i had two sleeping boys in the back and didn't want to wake them)
I adore rain. I love the sound of it, the smell of it, the way it makes every colour more vibrant and the way it makes everything look more beautiful than it was before.

Today I had like less than four hours of sleep, so this time there won't be ramblings: I need going to bed >.< Plus, I spent all the day in front of the computer designing and coding and my eyes are red and hurting. But I am glad I did: I needed to practise a little, and fighting with a contact form and all the input and textarea classes has been a good way to do it.
I took this during the only hour I have been outside home. Not too interesting, but it is better than nothing.
